In my point of view, this advertisement taught us not to be so hard on ourselves. I'm sure there are more to the story on why he became a bad person in the first place. I don't think anyone was born "bad" nor does a bad behaviour is something that could be passed on from our parents. He must experienced something bad in his life that because of it he become the person that he is in that video. Maybe he came from a poor background with divorced parents or raised by a single parent or maybe he was an orphan so he never had any role model he could follow up to. Maybe at school he hung out with the wrong person or he grew up at a poor neighborhood and society that taught him to be the way that he is now. Whatever the reason was, this commercial taught me that even when you know you're a bad person, even if the whole world hates your guts and wants nothing to do with you, you could still be a decent person. It's not too late to start that, even when you're gone from this world.
After watching this video, I can say that as human beings, we cannot judge each other just by looking at how they respond to the environment around him. This advertisement shows that we cannot judge a book by its cover. It is very contradictory to see that every day he is being the grumpy Cole Sweeney and suddenly when he died he became an organ donor to many people in need. I think that as human beings, we can take the lesson of not judging people, and should always be open to many aspects. Truthfully, even the nicest man on earth might not do something like Cole Sweeney. I am not that surprised when I watch this advertisement, because I encountered that particular phase where I know someone that is actually very kind in terms of their personality but other people judged him the opposite because he was very harsh in terms of language.
This is a very good video to watch by all people in this world. The video taught us not to be such a judgemental person, because not all people are like what we think. "Don't judge the book by its cover". That's what old people said, even nowadays, that sentence is still popular among us. Because we cannot just judge people wether this person is a good or a bad person without knowing the inside of it, because sometimes, the one who looks like an angel can be a very bad person, and the one who looks like a demonic beast, is a good, polite, honest person, etc. In this advertisement, it showed that Sweeney is such an asshole being. He often broke the rule, even the simplest rule, which is entering the girl's restroom. It made him well known by all people in his town because of his bad habits. But people didn't know what was truly happened that cause his bad habits. They just judged him as a bad person, and it's a true reflection of nowadays society, which there's still so many judgemental person. After he died in the restaurant, the waitress found out that he was an organ donorer. He had save so many people that are dying. Behing his asshole character, he already saved a plenty of peopke with his organ. Not even a better person than him will do such thing. This is the problem of todays society. Most people's first perception to other people is based on what they see, not what they know about that person. Even me. So i think people must change that kind of judgemental thing for the greater goods
Love or hate at first sight is a common thing. We cannot deny that we attend to judge people from the outside without knowing the inside. People are so opinionated and set certain expectations toward things or even people from the physical appearance. From the video, we can learn that not everything shown is true. Colin Sweeney, a figure that known to be harsh and selfish is actually a hero. His attitude may irritates others but deep down he was aware towards his surroundings. He has his own definition of life and decided to dedicate his organs to the people who truly need it. This taught us to not judge other people before getting to know them because each person may express themselves with different ways and we will never know the reason behind it. Thus, we cannot easily believe what other people said because it is not necessarily true and remember to always be kind to everyone.
The first thing that was on my mind when I saw this video is that there’s always one person in this world that has that kind of personality. Not all people are perfect in this small world, so much things he did to others that are human/non-human like is what describes the person's personality (in my opinion). There must be a reason why he did that, or maybe it was for his own enjoyment, even I don't know. Maybe he's really an unprincipled person that don't even care about what people thinks about him and even maybe, he doesn’t know what he did was wrong. But in the last part when he passed away in the diner I thought it was a consequence for him for all the things he did but in the same time, maybe he wanted it to happened, he wanted others to believe that he too can have a heart, have the feelings for others.
After watching this video, I can say that this video didn’t do a very good job of convincing the audience. I can boldly say this because the video didn’t follow all three elements of persuasion (Pathos, Ethos, and Logos) although it does follow one of the element. In brief, Pathos appeals to an audience’s emotions, Logos convince people through the use of logic and reasoning while Ethos appeals to an audience through the credibility of the content. As I look back to the video, it mostly persuades the audience through the element of Ethos. This is because the video uses sad music (Fix You by Coldplay) throughout the whole video and as well as the general storyline that shows how Colin, a true “American asshole” isn’t always an asshole after all in the inside. Now I’m not saying that all commercial should have all three elements, but wouldn’t be better to have all three elements so that the audience could be strongly persuaded? But again that depends on the audience to decide whether this advertisement strongly convinced them to donate their organ. As for me I’m not strongly convinced.
I was speechless when I finished watching this video. I knew that something good will happen, but I didn’t think it was going to end up like that. My opinion is, don’t judge a person immediately by its habits. Cole may have a disappointing childhood memory, unpleasant relationship with his parents, unfavorable economic conditions, or even terrible neighborhoods. The phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” really fits to this advertisement. We may see that Cole has a bad personality and very disrespectful to the surroundings. Cole died when he was arguing about an extra fries in a diner. But when Sarah found out that Cole was registered to be an organ donor, she changed her view about Cole. When Cole died, he helped many other people. By his death, he kept many people to stay alive and to be more independent or to teach many more children. By being an organ donor, Cole’s life status changed from a bad person into a hero. We too can be a hero by spreading goodness to society.
Coleman Sweeney is truly an inspiration for us. It told us how to not easily judge people only from their looks or their behavior; just like the famous quote “Don’t judge a book only by it’s cover”. Because in fact, we never really know what’s inside a person’s heart. They may look terrible, they may say bad words, they may act impolitely, but it doesn’t meant that they can’t do something good for other people; just like what Sweeney did. From this video, we should also learn that there is always a way to help other people. No matter what people say about us, no matter how they treated us, even when people raised a middle finger for us, it should never stop us to become a good person for other people. Don’t be afraid if other people doesn’t really know what we have done good, at least we still have God that will always know all the things that we did genuinely.
The first thing that came out of my mind after finishing the video is the quote “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. Coleman Sweeney is one of the example of the accuracy of this quote. I think that this quote inspire me a lot to see people in a wider perspective and not only from the outside. To be honest, everyone, including me, will hate Coleman Sweeney in real life because of his behaviour towards others during his life. But, what we don’t know is why he became like that? It’s easy to judge people because of their bad behaviour, but what is difficult is discovering the reason of behind that bad behaviour. Coleman Sweeney definitely had his reason to become an “asshole” during his life, but at least he knew how to pay his bad behaviour and became a blessing for others. What he has done towards others after his life, for me, is more to see and respect than what he has done during his life.
Wow, this video inspires me a lot! First of all, I would like to say in the first minutes of the video I felt that this Coleman Sweeney irritates me a lot for being an absolute asshole, but then in the middle of the video, I was really shocked right at the moment when the lady showed the registered card of him being an organ donor. My whole perspective of him totally changed. What I learn from this video is that we can't judge people easily. We can't judge people by not knowing his/her complete or entire background. Coleman Sweeney here is a hero, he may be an asshole most of the time, but behind all his negative actions, he is a blessing to people without showing his generous actions to the society. All in all, I think this advertisement did quite a good job for teaching us something today, may all of us can put Coleman Sweeney as an inspiration and also be a mutual & influential person in our surroundings.
To be honest, I am truly confused about this advertisement. This video is really peculiar for me. It is actually an entertaining video to watch when you are bored, but for advertising people to donate their organs when they are passed away? No, it fails to convince people in donating their organs. I mean, this is a video to advertise organs donor, but I believe nobody really cares about the advertisement’s purpose in this video. I am not even moved to donor my organs when I’m dead after I watched this video. But the good thing about this video is the advice we got which tells us not to judge people that fast. He has been a jerk for most of his time, but he did a kind thing in the end of his life. By donating his organs, he helped people who are in need of his organs to say alive. So he is actually being a meritorious person indirectly.
The first thing that I wanted to say is props for the company who made this kind of smart advertisement, and the second one is how amazing the moral message that was given to the viewer. It really represents the “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” quote because most people would only see our cover firsthand and then decided if this person is good or bad, but not by seeing their inner personalities. And the problem that came from this advertisement it’s not that there are good and bad people out there because we all know that for a fact, but it’s because we always judge people too easily and then decide their personality just from their outer appearance. One of my advice for this kind of problem is, don’t be so quick to judge another person. Befriend them first and then if the person has a good personality, keep on befriending them. But if they are really rotten to the core, well it’s up to you to decide it.
Coleman Sweeney made a wonderful decision to register as an organ donor, and I respect him for that. But from the beginning until the end of this advertisement, I still think of him as a person who don't respect others. In my opinion, even if Coleman Sweeney registered as an organ donor, it won’t change the fact that he was disrespectful and very unpleasant towards people. This label of him as an unpleasant person is known by everyone and will be remembered by everyone even after his death. One nice thing can’t really change it, no matter how nice it is. But we can’t really make a claim whether he is a nice person or not, because we will never know his intentions for his actions. He may be seen as an inspiring person and possibly moved people’s heart to start doing some good. In short, even though he was labeled as unpleasant person and most of his actions were very disrespectful, we can still learn from him and start to do some good for others.
Honestly after just watching several minutes of the video, i thought that Coleman was your typical old douche who acts like an asshole just because he can. To my surprise he turned out to be a goodman with a kind heart. After he passed away he even volunteered to be an organ donor. He donated his cornea to an elderly who was blind, donated his tedons to a crippled military officer and his internal organs to a father of two. He was an asshole who littered, scared childrens, used the ladies bathroom and lots more but in the end he did what he thought was right and became a good man. In my opinion no one was born a good man or a bad man. Being good or bad isn't something you were born with. It’s a label you earn through the actions and deed you do in your life. He was a bad man and an ass hole but I believe in second chances and redemption. Even though he lived a bad life he repented and became a man who is useful and not just a man who is a toxic and burden in society.
The Public Service Announcement itself is very entertaining and meaningful. We can learn from it and implement the lesson into our life. What the video trying to convey actually made me contemplate on myself and made me remember how most Indonesian judge people. Personally, I think most people here still label people based on their looks. Good deeds are often being ignore but a single mistake could change someone’s value and people’s perspective on them. We should try to be more open minded about our surroundings. We don’t always know the reason behind people’s action so we should be more understanding. We cannot easily believe what other people said about someone since we don’t yet know the truth. We also cannot make a claim about people’s doing since we don’t know their intention in doing so. In conclusion, we cannot judge someone until we get to know them personally. That’s all from me, thank you.
First thing I want to say is amazing. It represents the quote, “Do not judge a book by its cover.” even when, it is true that everyone (at least) on the video seen him as an as*hole. But, then again, nobody in this whole world is truly evil nor extremely kind. I am not saying that this world is full of evil and cold-hearted person as Coleman showing his attitude on the video. This video reminds me of a wisdom saying, “There’s none of the good people that doesn’t have past, also none of the mean people that doesn’t have future.” Don’t judge people based on how you see in the present, we will never know how someone could change within just a moment in time. Although, it’s quite normal to have a spontaneous opinion about certain thing. But, maybe someone you hate the most today would be your soulmate in the future or vice versa.
Sometimes we judge people with our assumption or just by one actions that they did. This video taught us that there might be so much greatness in a person that we just never now. we judge people based on what we sees in our eyes. Most of the time we forgot all the other kindness of a person if they did maybe even one wrongdoings that we see from our eyes. After watching this video, I think back abaut wether I have ever judged a person badly just because a single mistakes they made. the answer is ; I do, yes i won't deny that I judged most people with my 1st impression on them and what I personally sees in them. This video taught me personally that we can’t just judge a person by just one bad thing in them. Everybody make mistakes but, they also have their own kindness that we just never had to see or experienced. So, we shouldn’t judge others because we never know that they might be more generous than how they look like and also they might be more generous than us
Because of everyone talking what we can learned from the advertisement im here to discuss the small details that made the advertisement interesting and very effective. I would say this advertisement is one of a kind. I would even consider this advertisement as a short film because of how well the story was written and how the video was produced. Eventhough this advertisement doesn’t may not characteristic of a conventional advertisement, it delivered its purpose better than other advertisements. How did they do that? First they gave us the truth. Instead of just showing a guy that is a bit of a jerk, they went all out with coleman Sweeney. It reminded us all of the annoying things that someone have done to us therefore making it relatable. Having a relatable advertisement is important because by having the audience’s trust the advertisement has a higher chance of succeeding to delivering its purpose. Secondly the advertisement was able to implements a level of comedy that are not supposed to be in a serious themed advertisement making it the more unforgettable advertisement. In this case the advertisement is about donating organs. Third the cinematography is on point. How the camera pans in and out and how the camera moved from one point of view to the other. One of the examples of this is when coleman doing his daily things that disturbed people around him. In that scene the camera tend to move quickly as if the bad things that he done hurts people but for a short period of time. it’s the opposite when he donated his organs.
This advertisement is quite interesting and gives a good message, but I’d like to say a few words about the story. It tells about a man named Coleman Sweeney who seemed to be an asshole all the time but when he died, people found out that he actually registered himself as an organ donor to help people. He may have saved people’s life, but from what I see, he’s not as generous as how the other EWS students say because he didn’t take care of the organs he donated. He smoked and drank alcohol which gave bad effects on his lungs and liver. And since his appearance is so messy, he doesn’t look like someone who cares about his body, so there’s a possibility that he never takes care about his health. I have no idea how he could pass the medical examinations to be a donor, but I think the organs he donated aren’t healthy enough to be transferred to another person’s body.
This video reminds me about a very common quote; Do not judge a book by its cover. The fact that we always see someone from the outside at first is not fully wrong actually, but judge them only by that is the one which is wrong. As we watch from the video, Coleman Sweeney might seem so unpleasant, reckless, disrespectful to others. Only by looking at his appearance we already know that he is an asshole. But when we look deep inside of himself he is actually a good man. He donates his organs to the people who needs it and it’s making him become a useful person to others. This video taught us that even the person who has a really bad personality somehow still has a good side inside of himself. And even the worst thing that an asshole can do, he is still able to do the good thing and be useful to others. And another lesson that I can learn from the video is that once someone with bad reputation does a good thing, it changes the whole perspective that we have on him.
This video changed my perspective on people who behaves like Cole Sweeney. It is normal for people to change into better individuals. In Cole's case, he was a very annoying person who treated people around him very badly. He created problems around him by acting disrespectfully to the elders, giving cigarettes to children, etc. Those behaviours badly reflect the community, and it is highly intolerable. After all those things he'd done, he managed to donate his organs and eventually passed away. The organs he donated was used by different people such as a father of two who meant a lot for his family. Cole Sweeney died as a good man, this video proves that anybody can change, even a man like Cole Sweeney chose to change. The people who was saved by Sweeney is shown to have gone to his funeral as a way of saying thank you. It doesn't matter who you were, but if you have the will and effort to change, you can surely be a better person indeed. A very inspiring video. Thumbs up for Cole Sweeney!
Although very short, this video contains a strong message that most of you missed. In the first minute of the video, the narrator said “Coleman felt like the whole world owed him something”. Could it be that Coleman felt superior to everyone else just because he is an organ donor? Let’s face the facts, you’re not a good person when you do a good deed, being a good person is based on all the choices you made in life, not just how your life impacted others in the end. If that was the case, every human being in this world would be an organ donor (which is what this PSA wants), but in reality not everyone wants to donate their organs. Who knows why, there are a wide range of reasons why people want to donate their organs and why some people do not. This whole PSA implies that “if you donate your organs, even if you were an asshole in life people will think you’re a hero, sign up today!”. It’s persuasive nonetheless.
This was a unique organ donor advertisement where they depict that anyone could be good person despite being a total jerk as long as you’re an organ donor. One side of me thinks that his actions cannot be justified and unless “Coleman was an asshole, 365 days a year” was a hyperbole, nothing would be able to compensate for all his wrongdoings. On the other hand, I think it’s unfair to say that Coleman’s a completely horrible person since he’s an organ donor. With him being an organ donor, this means that he went through the thought process of wanting to help lesser fortunate people, took the effort to go to the hospital where he got checked up and filled whatever information is needed for registration to eventually becoming a certified organ donor. We live in a society where “people will always remember the bad things you did and always forget the good things you’ve done” which means people tend to look at only the flaws and negative side of someone rather than weighing out the ‘goods and bads’ before making a judgement.
I really like this advertisement video. There are two aspects that I would like to point out from this ad. The first aspect is the production budget. By seeing this ad, it is clear that the budget that is used in making this ad is not small. The videography in this ad is superb. The quality of the camera used is also good. I can tell that they use high quality camera for this ad. Other than that, the actors also did a very good job playing their roles. Second aspect would be the story that is written in this advertisement video. It tells a story of a man named Coleman F. Sweeny. He’s a total jerk most of his life. He likes to be disrespectful towards others. Surprisingly, before he died he became an organ donor. The story in this ad taught me to give people a chance, and to always believe that even a person that is as bad as Cole, could do something good.
Although there are several logical fallacies, that is overall a good advertisement. The kind-hearted act as an organ donor can’t justify the mess he made in his 365 days. Those injured people remain harmed; the bad influence he made is still there regardless of the liver he gives. However, that is already enough as an advertisement. Ads should be made simple, easily understood, and the message is well-delivered at the minimum extent. The message is about the comparison of Coleman Sweeney’s life and most of ours. If such an asshole can have the intention to be a donor, why don’t we, normally-behaved people, think forward to be a donor as well? The ads also show how helpful us could be if we are being a donor. It doesn’t only help the recipient, but also the family, and the other good things that can only be done if the recipient is alive. This creates enough impression in people’s mind to remember the interesting story of Coleman and the Donate Life itself.
This advertisement video is a heart-warming one! This ad gives you the view that no matter what happened you can't just judge a person's real character by the look and the behaviour in everyday life. This advertisement tells that everything that Coleman Sweeney did is a making him even more worthy to be called as a jerk or an asshole but I think inside his mind there's a lot happening because in most cases someone's bad behaviour reflect their childhood. Maybe he got abused when he was a child or maybe he had a childhood trauma or something, one thing for sure his decision to become a donor is I think a way to redeem his unmannered behaviour because in my opinion there's no one in this world who actually born to become a mean person. His act of kindness I think will be always remembered by those who has been affected because no matter what love is what the humanity built from.
To be completely honest with you Mr. Adrian, this video was a bit confusing to watch. First and foremost, I thought that the video was too long for an advertisement. An advertisement usually takes around 30 seconds to deliver their message while this video almost took 3 minutes to deliver their statement which is to donor our organs and save life. It was actually a pretty straightforward message that doesn’t need a 3-minute video. Although I’m not a big fan of the video I do agree that the video was quite entertaining to watch and the meaning behind it was easy to figure out. From reading the comments, I realized that a lot of my fellow classmates were really inspired by the video. For me personally, the video taught me about giving back to others, even when you weren’t a good person before, there’s still time to repent. But, it would be better if you live your life being kind to others and doing good deeds so there won’t be any regret later on.
So after I watch the advertisement and read some of the comments above, I do agree with some people who think that this video is kind of unusual or weird. I’m not saying that this video has a bad content, in fact, it is vice versa. But, to be honest, as an advertisement, I think this video is not quite selling. This video indeed gives us lesson to not judge people by their appearance or by their daily behaviour, but despite the good values that has been delivered, this advertisement is still unable to convince me to become an organ donor. Have you guys ever watched Thai Life Insurance’s advertisements? If you never watched them, their advertisements are also discussing about social issues, but I personally think that their videos are way more convincing than this one. Perhaps by adding more suitable background music or improving the cinematography, this video could be more convincing and interesting to watch.
The title says it all. Interesting Advertisement. And indeed, it is a very interesting advertisement. At least there are 3 interesting points I got from watching the clip. Just like some previous comments posted before me, we cannot actually give sentimental judgement to anyone if we don’t really know him or her in person. I am endlessly trying to embed this to my mindset. I am trying to stop “What people think about this?” from influencing “What do I think about this?” and making me think on bad prejudices.
Another interesting thing is at the end of the clip, there’s a quote saying: “Even an asshole can save life.” I am strongly agree with it. What I interpret from this is that the ads insinuate viewers that even those who are classified as the ones who have so much less attitudes and norms in the society could save other people’s life, why can’t we, the one who knows the norms do the same thing.
Lastly, the most important interesting point, is it okay for an alcoholic to donate its liver? Well, I am not a doctor or who knows about the organ donors and transplantation, but from what I’ve read that people who donate its liver should not consume alcohol. Anyone could help me out about this or giving your view on this? Thank you.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I watched this advertisement is that he is such a bad person and I thought when he fainted on the restaurant he would have nobody coming to his funeral. But suddenly I saw the waitress found his wallet and she then take out his driving license and I saw the donor sign. Turns out he is not that bad.
What is so interesting about this advertisement is the last part when they said "Even an asshole can save a life." And in my opinion, that is so true. I know that he's not a nice person because he has such a bad attitude when he was alive. But in the end, he did a really wonderful thing and it saves not only a live, but the whole family.
Lastly, what I learned is that you should not judge a person by its cover. This man showed us that he still has a good empathy towards others. That's all today from me. Thank you.
After watching the video above, it opened my eyes to the idea that people aren’t always like what they seem to look like. At the start of the video, it showed that coleman was not a good man he disrespected the people around him, and he didn't care about anybody but himself, he was even harsh to innocent little kids and harmless animals. But later in the video, it was revealed that although he was a bad person in life, in his death he gave his organs to those people that he used to despise. It teaches me that in life you can always be better person and it is never too late even in death. But the real question is, did he really redeemed himself?, could one act really change who we were for our whole life?. Should we really forgive him just because of his last act in life was a good deed?. For me personally you as a human being you can always seek redemption for yourself and whether people would accept it or not, its up to them, at the end what matters is that you tried to make things better.
I got goosebumps watching this video. Since I am a teenager I have always wanted to donate my organs when I died and I already sign some legal papers. People can create a lot of controversy about this topic, and many can disagree. However, I just thing is amazing how this humble act can change the life of someone else. Recently, I was watching a documentary about a life-changing face transplant and I just could not stop crying. (I will leave the link below if someone is interested) The part that impact me the most was when the girl says : “I get a second chance at life right now”. The documentary gives you another perspective of life and makes you feel grateful for being healthy. In my opinion, donation of organs is something that should be more supported and like the video says: even an asshole can save a life. Documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFua9-Rc4pw
There's more to Coleman Sweeney than meets the eye. What if all the things that he did in which people labelled as being something horrible (this particular word would have to suffice, since you clearly cant swear in a blog comment due to the fact that it might and will violate a few rules) was simply a facade? at first glance, yes his actions contradicted to what we know as the norm. it bothered some people to the extent of wanting to flip him off. In all honesty, I didn't think of it that way. I was smiling during the entire first minute of the video. i might have seemed odd to others. i was watching the video all alone with no one around to judge my suspicious smile. Perhaps the reason for this is all those hours reading books and thoroughly understanding the characters. It's a lot harder to understand someone's actions when you can't even see what's going through their head from their facial expressions. Maybe if someone had taken their time to try and understand Coleman Sweeney, we wouldn't have to raise our middle fingers and shout "up yours Coleman Sweeney" while having him buried six feet under.
Coleman Sweeney is by no means an awful human being and I wouldn’t say it otherwise. During his lifetime, he had been doing terrible things every day and he gave zero cares to whatever the consequences of his actions. But I believe it is only what is shown on the surface. People’s emotion might as well be illustrated as an iceberg theory: what we see often is only a fractional part of what it really is. Looking from the perspective of an outsider, Coleman Sweeney might be an asshole—as the video stated—for the whole of his life. However, humans aren’t born with mere ignorance and tendency to do bad things. Humans crave for kindness, and have their own ideological beliefs that help them to understand how the society should function and what constitutes behaviour that is right or wrong. Coleman Sweeney still has this sense of virtue in some places of his heart, and that is what makes him a hero.
The phrase “don’t judge a book bit its cover” perfectly describe the video. Throughout his life, we could easily state that Coleman is a mess. He steal, he drinks, smokes, he was not patient enough to wait for the pedestrian to cross the street by honking on them, etc. This video would be a hard slap in the face for most Indonesians. As far as i know, Indonesian has the habit to judge others, talk bad about others. From this video, i learnt that we should respect everyone and should not underestimate anyone. You’ll never know what’s in the heart of a person until you really know them. Coleman might be a mess but, he is very kind hearted. His organs helped four people, without his organs these people won’t be able to pursue their lifes normally. Lastly, this is a very interesting way to ask people to be a donor. The video is short, clear and touching. If we no longer need them, why not donate it to others?
This donor commercial is currently very relevant. In The Kingdom of The Netherlands we recently, after a failed attempt for a referendum, accepted a new donor law. Every citizen will now be an organ donor unless he made an objection during his life. Until now it has always been the other way around. These kind of laws are not rare, other countries such as France, Belgium, Austria, Sweden and more recently Finland have known this kind of legislation for much longer. I believe these kind of laws are required to stop unnecessary deaths. Every year 150 people in The Netherlands die because they do not get a donor. According to “de Volkskrant”, a respected Dutch newspaper, laws like this have a positive effect on reducing this amount of unnecessary deaths. I hope commercials like this have a positive effect as well or at least create awareness among the society. It is always nice to bring a serious message with a little bit of humour.
The first time I saw this advertisement I thought it was just an advertisement about a person with bad behavior, but in the end I was speechless because how a bad behave person like him could turn into angel who save others life, this is mean that we should not “judge the book by its cover” I knew few people who actually really bad person but deep inside they still have a good heart, from the advertisement video above I’ve learned that every people in this world still have good heart, and we can learn from Coleman Sweeney which is truly inspirational for us and could be a very good example for us to always not judge a person by their habits or personality because we don’t really know inside a person’s heart that could be still a small kindess inside. And I hope this advertisement could be lesson for all of us.
Coleman as depicted very clearly in the video, was an a**hole. I found every single thing that he did was unfunny at all (besides the bit where he took the candy from the kid, I gagged), I think most of what he did in the video can be counted as a federal crime. I mean seriously, that dog did not deserved to be shot at, even with a bb gun.
When he died, and it was revealed that he was an organ donor, I was puzzled. Nobody could have guessed a person like that to be a donor. I was pleasantly surprised that the organs that he was willing to donate is a major help for other sickly people. I really liked the ad, I guess the ad is saying that everyone can be a donor; it doesn’t matter if you live a generous and a fulfilling live or a rough and angry one, everyone can be a donor.
Everyone said something beautiful about this advertisement. And yes it is. It is beautiful when you see the kindness of someone. From this advertisement I can see that Sweeney have suffered a lot that he does not care about other people. Maybe it is the way he escape from his suffering. What makes me interested in this advertisement is in the and of the clip, there is a quote saying "Even an asshole can save life." this quote hit me hard. Thinking about someone that voluntary donate his organs to help others got me goosebumps. From this advertisement i have learned that we should not judge a book by its cover. Big thanks to Mr. Adrian for letting me watch this beautiful advertisement . It tear me up a bit. Thats all from me. Thank you!
This advertisement is probably one of the best advertisements I have seen to this date. It has a lot of meaning and has reminded me that I must never judge people, because even somebody who has been bad all his life could bring joy to people. Coleman might have been a horrible person throughout his life. He had done disrespectful doings to the society and brought a lot of problems to it. People would never expect someone like Coleman would want to give his organs to others who are really in need of it. He did what others might not do. He sacrificed his life for the happiness of others. Through his story, we should learn to forgive others and believe that people with horrible past, could turn his life 180 degrees and show who they truly are. Because if Coleman could do it, I believe that those people arrested in the prison could do it as well.
After watching this advertisement, it is interesting and I can say that we cannot judge people by its cover. As in the video, we can see that Coleman is a horrible person because of his attitude towards people but at the end of the video I didn’t expect that kind of ending because seeing that he became a donor is very touching. First of all, we can say that we don’t know what certain people problems are and we don’t know personally each one of people personally, it is best if we are not being judgemental and judge them quickly by looking only bits part of their life. I know that Coleman had done several things wrong in his life but he totally changed when in the end he became a donor and sacrifice his own life for doing good to other people and Gove other people a chance to live.
This video changed my point of view on people who acts like Cole Sweeney. It is typical for people to change into a better people. For Cole's situation, he was an extremely irritating guy who treated people the around him like trash. He made issues around him by acting like an asshole to the older folks, offering cigarettes to youngsters, and so on. The things that he have done are just not right and so disrespectful. I think that in the end, he realized that he was a terrible human being and willing to change his ways. By doing so, he donated his organs and passed away. He donated his organs to a lot of people. In the video, he donated his organ to a father that have two children and who means a lot for his family. Cole Sweeney lived his life by doing such horrible things, but ended his life with helping others to live. This video shows that anyone can change and we should believe in second chances. Because even a guy like Cole Sweeney is willing to change and right the wrongs that he did in the past. This video teaches us that we have to be a better person than before. This is a very inspiring video!
Throughout the whole video I keep wondering what is his purpose of living if he keeps on making mess? And I got the answer right at the end of the video. Organ donors are heroes without capes. Although in this video we see that he doesn't act like one, but on the other hand he couldn’t just go out and brag, “Hey, I am a licensed organ donor you should do this and do that”. I believe the saying of don’t judge a book by its cover should be applied. He may act recklessly and may seem out of control, but he really has a heart of gold and a compassionate purpose of life. It could be that he feels like he couldn't contribute anything to the community with his lifestyle when he was still alive, and therefore the least he could do is to donor his organs. Which is an amazing accomplishment for himself and also a remarkable contribution to the community. Actually, the first thing I realized about this video is the background music, which is Coldplay’s Fix You. It is one of my favorite songs, which has a really powerful message.
This advertisement is very interesting for me. It is a very unique and creative advertisement. I liked this type of advertisement that makes people watch until the end, because a lot of people always want to skip a boring advertisement in youtube or television. I also liked this kind of advertisement, because it felt that you are not watching an advertisement but more like watching a short movie. I also felt that this advertisement had a morale value. I think this advertisement will succeed in persuading people to donate their organs. I think Indonesia’s television advertisement quality is not that good, and the duration of the advertisement of television channel is too long. I think there should be a standard for advertisement makers to follow, so there should not be any low quality advertisement. I think Indonesian advertisement makers should look and follow advertisement maker from overseas. In my opinion, this is a very good advertisement.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching this video, I can say that as human beings, we cannot judge each other just by looking at how they respond to the environment around him.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good video to watch by all people in this world.
ReplyDeleteLove or hate at first sight is a common thing.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that was on my mind when I saw this video is that there’s always one person in this world that has that kind of personality.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching this video, I can say that this video didn’t do a very good job of convincing the audience.
ReplyDeleteI was speechless when I finished watching this video.
ReplyDeleteColeman Sweeney is truly an inspiration for us.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that came out of my mind after finishing the video is the quote “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.
ReplyDeleteWow, this video inspires me a lot!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I am truly confused about this advertisement.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that I wanted to say is props for the company who made this kind of smart advertisement, and the second one is how amazing the moral message that was given to the viewer.
ReplyDeleteColeman Sweeney made a wonderful decision to register as an organ donor, and I respect him for that.
ReplyDeleteHonestly after just watching several minutes of the video, i thought that Coleman was your typical old douche who acts like an asshole just because he can.
ReplyDeleteThe Public Service Announcement itself is very entertaining and meaningful.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I want to say is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we judge people with our assumption or just by one actions that they did. So, we shouldn’t judge others because we never know that they might be more generous than how they look like and also they might be more generous than us
ReplyDeleteBecause of everyone talking what we can learned from the advertisement im here to discuss the small details that made the advertisement interesting and very effective.
ReplyDeleteThis advertisement is quite interesting and gives a good message, but I’d like to say a few words about the story.
ReplyDelete(I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense)
ReplyDeleteThis video changed my perspective on people who behaves like Cole Sweeney.
ReplyDeleteA very inspiring video.
ReplyDeleteThis was a unique organ donor advertisement where they depict that anyone could be good person despite being a total jerk as long as you’re an organ donor.
ReplyDeleteI really like this advertisement video.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there are several logical fallacies, that is overall a good advertisement.
ReplyDeleteThis advertisement video is a heart-warming one!
ReplyDeleteI think this advertisement was very interesting because it is not your typical advertisement where it is very cliché. This advertisement ended with a plot twist that made the advertisement itself seems a bit odd. In my opinion, when an advertisement is portrayed oddly it becomes easier for people to memorize it which means the message that this advertisement is trying to deliver is working. This advertisement taught us that there is so much more to a person than what they’re trying to portray on the outside. Someone could put up this whole persona as if they are the toughest human beings on earth but deep down inside they are actually hurting. I personally think you can’t truly tell a person’s intention based off what they are trying to portray on the outside because sometimes how they’re acting on the outside tends to contradict with their true intention. This advertisement also taught us that good exists within everyone.

ReplyDeleteTo be completely honest with you Mr.
ReplyDeleteI’m not saying that this video has a bad content, in fact, it is vice versa.
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting thing is at the end of the clip, there’s a quote saying: “Even an asshole can save life.” I am strongly agree with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is so interesting about this advertisement is the last part when they said "Even an asshole can save a life." And in my opinion, that is so true.
ReplyDeleteI got goosebumps watching this video.

ReplyDeleteColeman Sweeney is by no means an awful human being and I wouldn’t say it otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThe phrase “don’t judge a book bit its cover” perfectly describe the video.

ReplyDeleteThis donor commercial is currently very relevant.
ReplyDeleteColeman as depicted very clearly in the video, was an a**hole. I found every single thing that he did was unfunny at all (besides the bit where he took the candy from the kid, I gagged), I think most of what he did in the video can be counted as a federal crime. I mean seriously, that dog did not deserved to be shot at, even with a bb gun.
ReplyDeleteWhen he died, and it was revealed that he was an organ donor, I was puzzled.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes it is.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching this advertisement, it is interesting and I can say that we cannot judge people by its cover.
ReplyDeleteThis video changed my point of view on people who acts like Cole Sweeney.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the whole video I keep wondering what is his purpose of living if he keeps on making mess?
ReplyDeleteThis advertisement is very interesting for me.
