A poem: First Kiss

I was let down by the train
the voice it gave the number
for complaints, again
and I'm always huddled
against the rain
crossing off the
sunless days that remain

and I don't know what it is
I'm waiting for
we never know
what this life has in store

in my cubicle of dreams
staring at those cells
upon my screen
and staring at the shelves
my supper's here and
I'm eating by myself, again

and I don't know what
someone might see in me
but I want to feel
what this life makes of me

this time will pass
I'll make my way
it won't always be
'today'

I'm soaring over fields
leaving behind the
chimneys and the wheels
an ice cream for you
the first kiss on the cheek
was at the zoo

and I don't know why
you have fallen for me
but now I must try to be
the one you need

our time has come
we'll make our way
who cares about those
'yesterdays'

I don't care about the train, let the
voice say those same things every day
and let's soak up the rain, let it
wash away the doubts so none remain

and now I know what it was
I was waiting for
I never knew
what this life had in store

  1. In my opinion, the poem above is a very beautiful and touching poem. From my analysis, the poem above is a story about a lonely man or woman that is very sad and depressed about the condition in his or her life because this person has always been waiting for a partner in life. This person is also very insecure about his or herself from the line “and I don’t know that someone might see in me”. Even though there is a lot of negative things in this persons mind he or she also has a positive way of thinking because this person believes that there will be a day where this person will meet his or her soulmate.

As the poem goes on, this person eventually finds his/her soulmate and tells us about this persons first kiss that takes place in the zoo. At the end of the poem, this person tells us about what this life has in store for all of us.
