  1. Personally I really like the style and the story this cartoon strip have to offer. It style is really simple and easy to see and the choice of the font really support the overall style. The story it told also very amusing and quiet funny make me want to read more like it. From what I analyze this cartoon strip is about children and how they react to thing that happen to them and I really love the way this cartoon strip depict it. It feels so right seeing how awkward and confuse the children in this cartoon strip interact with the problem they have at hand. Talking about problem, the problem in this comic strip is really believable and looks like a problem that many kids have or will suffer in their life. Of course there aren’t any nasty language in the cartoon strip itself making this cartoon strip can be read by anyone at any age.

  2. These comic strips remind me to the one I read in a local newspaper when I was little. I do remember it also has some similar contents which basically about light stories of little moments in life. The only thing that differentiating both of them is that the one I read doesn't have parts like this comic stip uploaded in the post. It was just a strip of four to five continuous pictures, and it ended there. Well, I prefer it has more parts because sometimes the story has cliffhanger ending and I will be desperate to know the continuation even if it just a little story of life. What I like about them is that these stories have meanings and lessons which can be understood by all ages of people. It will be easier to teach children about some right or wrong acts with these comic strips. They are easy to understand and are simple yet entertaining pictures which everybody likes.

  3. This cartoon strip actually reminds me of a game that I used to play a lot back when I was in elementary with my friends called Poptropica. It’s a game where you can explore many different islands/worlds and each island has its own missions or quirks such as an island that gives you the superpower to fly when you finish the mission in that island or the ability to call an animal to your side. This comic strip reminds me of that game because it has similar drawing style as the character designs of the game and I really like this style of comic strip too as they are not complicated and straight to the point and short which would pique the interest of many readers. As for the content, I think most people can relate to this comic strip because when we were little, we tend to insult let’s say the person we like as a way to get their attention but hurting them as a result. Also for the fact that it’s still hard for people to apologize to another due to personal reasons, even when they’ve grown into an adult.

  4. This comic has a style and content that could be directed at teens down to young children. The story flows simple enough for a young audience to understand and has a good enough humor that is engaging. The art style is also unique, it can be said to be simplistic yet it has enough detail that we can see distinct character features. I think that this compensates well for the lack of colour.
If I am not mistaken the way this is tailored is that the comics were given out along with the newspaper released. And so the story happens unfolds very slowly. This creates more satisfaction when we finish the whole story because of the suspense that is inadvertently caused by the method of sharing the comic. I personally think that comics that are presented this way does not have a place among the younger generation, primarily due to the lack of interest in the type of art that is presented and the multitude of choices that is available to them.

  5. About the style, to be honest, I do not know how to explain the style of a cartoon strip. I think it’s more like simple style? The cartoon strip artist did not try much on the drawing, it still attractive and catchy. I like this kind of cartoon strip because it easy and enjoyable to be seen. About the content, is about children friendship problem. The boy named Calvin tease a girl named Susie, and it hurts Susie’s feeling. Then there is this tiger advising the boy and ask him to say sorry to Sussie. In other hand, there is Sussie who mad at Calvin and overthink about the insult Calvin said to her. But later on, because advise from the tiger, Calvin apologise to Sussie and Sussie forgive him. But then, Sussie be chagrined forgive Calvin easily and shout to Calvin to grovel a bit. In my opinion, the story of this comic strip is easy to understand and suitable for every age.

  6. To be frank I never understood any of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strips since I first saw them in Kompas’ weekly Sunday comic section. I get the storyline of the comics, but I can’t see any meaning beyond the superficial. This is either I do not understand the context of the comics, but this seems natural as the comic strips almost does not have any context clues whatsoever. It could be that the authors intentionally did not give any context clues in the comics that would hint readers at the underlying meaning. By making it this way, readers’ interpretation of the comic strips would be varied, free from context determined by the authors. It is almost postmodern if one thinks about it; the meaning of the text is given by the text itself; the text is separate from the authors in a sense that the authors’ take on the meaning is an interpretation by itself.

  7. Comics, something that I do enjoy a lot since when I was a kindergarten, I used to be a “bookworm” since when I was a child, I remembered that my dad was regularly bought me some books to be read, however as the time goes by, due to the lot of tasks that I had back in high school and the price of books which’s increasing from time to time, I spend lesser time and money on books and went into gaming to release stress from the tasks. However, I do still enjoy reading books, not only comics tho, I do enjoy reading comedy-related books and light novels like the works from Raditya Dika etc. but then, when I move here I forgot to brought my books which I left it at home. Me and my dad are both loves to read so much up until when my dad’s books and mine combined, it can fill a small-medium sized bedroom since my dad always said that “I am willing to spend lots of money to buy books, no matter how expensive it is, as long as you enjoy it, it’s ok for me”. That’s what he always said when we went to a book store. However, I don’t have the courage to do so since I just felt like it’s not proper. Probably, when I went back home I would brought some of my favourite books here in order to reduce my playtime.

  8. Speaking about comic strips, I don’t really enjoy reading comic strips, even though that it’s available on the Sunday edition of Kompas, I don’t read it frequently since for me, the story’s not rich, and sometimes it’s cliffhanging (the ending) which triggers me sometimes. Personally, I prefer to read comics which’s episode-based and it’s not only consisting of short panels. I do love to read Manga but I only read Naruto the series in which’s over already, now I started to read the Boruto which’s the son himself in which is made by the assistant of Masashi Kishimoto himself, the one who brought Naruto the series up until it lasted for around 10-20 years and still continuing up until today. Not only the manga, I play all the games, watched the anime and collecting the comics at home which not all people do since it’s available online. However, I’m not a hard core anime fan since I only enjoy Naruto the series over all tons of animes available online.
