  1. Professor Mark Miodownik, a best selling author, just released a new book called “Liquid: The Delightful and Dangerous Substances That Flow Through Our Live”. This book is basically contained some liquid that is not usual, but is worth more than we know. The first liquid is the liquid that filled the aircraft, that is very powerful, it could fly us to many countries, fly sattelites through outer space, and many other powerful influence. For this book, one of the main content is how to make the perfect tea. Professor Mark Miodownik explained, that the most important part to make the perfect tea is to make sure the temperature is perfect. When you drink black tea, you have to make the tea while boiling it, while green tea, you can make it off the boil, so it’s also depends on what type of tea you’re making. One of the important thing that you should be concerned of is to not make the tea slowly, not in a rush, and therefore you will have the full flavour of the tea you’re making.

    1. The first part of the listening material is, indeed, Professor Miodowink being interviewed. However, the second half of the audio is ripped from the YouTube clip that I have now added to my blog entry above.

  2. A nice cup of tea ? Im sorry if im going out if the topic sir but i prefer coffee instead. Im just not into the bandwagon of ‘ have a cup of tea ‘ every now and then. I cant honestly differ which is the perfect or decent tea. I mean yea there are different flavours but personally they all taste pretty much the same to me. Unless you put less or more sugar, or add another substract like lemon or honey if you happen to be one of those special cornflakes. But i have to agree to the statement which said one of the most important step is to pay attention to the temperature. If it is too hot then it may burn the vitamins and the good stuffs lol but if it is not hot enough then maybe the glass aint pleasent enough to grab. Also the temperature affects how the tea is enjoyed. That is all my opinion about tea lol have a good one, Sir

  3. I am also a 'Coffee Drinker' as opposed to a 'Tea Drinker'. In fact, tea is the most popular hot drink among my compatriots in the U.K.

Look at these questions and answers:

With 84% of the British population drinking tea and herbal infusions every day, there is an understandable thirst for knowledge on all aspects of tea. Here are a few answers to some of the most popular questions asked about tea. If your question is not answered here then please contact us with your question.

Q: How many of cups of tea do the British drink each day?
A: 165 million cups daily or 60.2 billion per year.

Q: Are we now a coffee drinking nation?
A: No, the number of cups of coffee drunk each day is estimated at 70 million.

Q: Who is the largest per capita tea drinking nation?
A: Republic of Ireland followed by Britain.

Q: Who is the largest producer of tea in the world?
A: China with 2,230,000 tonnes, India is second with 1,191,100 tonnes, Kenya third with 399,210 tonnes (2015 production).

Q: What percentage of British tea is consumed from a tea bag?
    A: 96%

Q: What percentage of tea is taken with milk?
    A: 98%

    Q: What is an antioxidant?
A: An antioxidant is a compound, which retards oxidation. In the body antioxidants can 'soak up' free radicals.

Q: What is a free radical?
A: Free radicals are unstable substances which can disrupt biochemical processes in the body and have been implicated in cancer and heart disease.

    Q: Does tea contain antioxidants?
A: Tea, like fruit and vegetables is a natural source of polyphenols and flavonoids which have antioxidant activity.

Q: Does the addition of milk reduce the antioxidant value?
A: The addition of milk does not appear to affect the bioavailability of the tea flavonoids

Q: Do green and black teas come from different plants?
A: No, they both come from the same plant known by its botanical name Camellia sinensis.

Q: Does tea contain the same level of caffeine as coffee?
A: No, at least half the level of coffee.

Q: How do you produce decaffeinated tea?
A: Simply by "washing" the tea leaves towards the end of the production process in an organic solvent. The method is strictly governed by legal limits.

Q: How many varieties of tea are there?
A: UK Tea & Infusions Association estimates about 1,500 varieties of Camellia sinensis.

Q: Is green tea better for you than black tea?
A: Both varieties come from the plant Camellia sinensis and both have similar amounts of antioxidants and minerals.

Q: Why does tea refresh you in hot weather?
A: It simply raises the body temperature momentarily, you perspire and the perspiration on your skin creates a cooling effect. Cold drinks quench your thirst but do not reduce your core temperature.

  4. This is interesting, I never knew that I brew my tea in a totally wrong way. I usually put my tea into the boiling pot and let it boiled for three to four minutes. Sometimes I add one or two rock sugar for 350ml tea but I prefer the original, without any sugar. Sometimes when I have a fever or when I get colds, I put honey, lemongrass and also lemon. It can makes my body feel better, makes me more relax. Tea is also a really good companion when you’re sitting along in your balcony in the middle of the night listening to your favorite song while taking a really deep breath from your cigarette. While It can be enjoyable for individuals, many people use tea for something more important. In Chinese culture for example, tea is used for a many things, the one that caught my eyes is when the children marry, the bride and the groom kneel in front of their parents and serve them tea to show them gratitude for being raised. Tell me how is your favorite way to for drinking tea, give a comment bellow.

  5. Before I hear the podcast and watch the video, I have never thought about the techniques of making a good cup of tea. I really thought that the goodness of the legendary drink is determined by the quality and variety of the product itself. I know that there are fancy way which people do brew their tea, such as the Japanese tea ceremony, yet I have never imagined that similar technique can be applied to black tea. I suppose the next time I brew my tea, I would like to try the technique shown in the video. Though it would be better if the video also show not only how to treat English black tea but also other techniques for different varieties of tea.

  6. After I watched the video about how to brew a perfect cup of tea, I began to think on how many teabags that I have wasted in my life up till now. What I always do when I brew a cup of tea is to dunk the teabag 4-5 times to the boiled water until the color of the water changes to the color of a tea, then I put 2 spoons of sugar and wait till it gets a bit warmer and then take a sip. What the video tells me to do is that the water used in brewing a cup of tea has to be 100 degree Celsius otherwise if the water boils too long, the tea would have flat taste. After the water is poured to the cup that is already added with the teabag, close the surface for about 3 minutes to keep the water temperature same as before it was poured. This is done so that the flavor in the teabag could shift into the water perfectly. It means that all this time I’ve been wasting on what a teabag has to offer, that is it’s rich flavor. The next time I brew a cup of tea, I’ll do as the video tells me to do and see how different my brewing skill is than before.

  7. All this time, I’ve been making tea incorrectly. I never knew that there is a technique used to make a good cup of tea and the science behind it. What I’ve been doing so far was just letting the tea bag chill in a cup of hot water for as long as I want, there is no specific time for me to take it out, then add sugar. I have never squeezed the tea bag when I want to take it out, boiled the water before pouring it in, or even cover the tea cup with the saucer. This knowledge could definitely be useful for us. Because who would not want a taste of the perfect cup of tea. But not every kind of tea uses the same kind of techniques in creating them, maybe every kind of tea has its own technique of making it. As mentioned in the podcast, different types of tea use different techniques to make them.

  8. My best mate from high school moved to Brighton two years ago. I already visited him a couple of times, but the first time there I experienced a moment I still remember very well. We rented a room in a bed and breakfast and were served a “cup of English tea”. I have to say that I am not really a tea-lover, but what they gave me there came from another dimension. I never tasted a tea as bitter and disgusting as the tea that was served there. I believe that this had more to do with our taste than with the quality of the tea, since we seemed to be the only ones not liking it. The point that I want to make is that no matter how much effort the British put in their piece of cultural heritage, it will always be a matter of taste. Therefore I do not believe that there is a good or bad way to prepare your tea, it is just about your own taste and the way you like it.

    Post Scriptum,

Please Mr. Adrian don’t take this as an insult towards your home country. There are more things I love about England than I don’t.

Most British people drink tea with milk and sugar (or sweetener), so I am not sure why the tea you had was bitter. You may have been unlucky. But anyway, I am not a tea lover so I don't know much about it. I have probably only made myself a cup of tea about 50 times in my life.

I am not a very patriotic person at the best of times, so I'm not going to leap to the defence of a "national" drink I care little about!

  9. This video is amazing because it has proven to me that I've been making tea wrongly. By the way I don't have the taste in tea because basically I am a coffee lover. But I will compare between tea and coffee.

During this time I thought that tea had no artistic value like coffee, in the world of coffee I know many coffee-making techniques like V60, French Press, and Chemex. For me tea does not have a unique brewing technique, making tea looks normal and not as complicated as coffee. In addition, the number of tea shop is not as much as a coffee shop.

But sometimes I also drink tea but in an unusual way. I visit a cafe that is unique so drinking tea will feel different. One of the tea spots I like the most is the Kemuning Tea shop in Tawangmanggu. This is the best place for me to enjoy a cup of tea. This video actually gives me the true meaning of tea, Professor Mark Miodownik proves that tea has a uniqueness like a cup of coffee.

  10. I find it quite funny how some thing we do every once in a while, be it for relaxation or for enjoyment, actually has a certain level of complexity attached to it. I believe that a good number of us make tea almost in an impetuous manner. We pour boiling water, place the teabag in then add sugar to your liking, or perhaps don't add sugar if you like it that way. I personally like to add milk whenever possible. We commit these steps without giving it too much thought because it seems difficult to make a mistake and ruin your tea. And then now we learn that every step of the way has its own set of challenges, such as correct boiling methods, temperature required, certain timings, etc. These methods of making a perfect cup of tea seems too much of a hassle when your plan is just to make some tea for breakfast. But I suppose those who seek to extract the most out of their tea should have the patience to do so. I wonder what other menial task actually has some intricacy to it.

  11. Wow, I found this really helpful! I sometimes confused about how do people make their tea because sometimes it tastes slightly different. Beside the brand, I am sure that there is some other factors. For example, like how we treat the tea bag if we use tea bag on making a cup of tea. It’s true that sometimes when I make a cup of tea, I tend to dunk the tea bag because I thought by doing that it would help the flavour and the colour to be mixed faster. While, surprisingly, the flavour of the tea also needs some time to come out. I treat green-tea and original tea bag differently, I sometimes feel that my green-tea is way more giving a nice-tea aroma, but turns out, I am the one who wrongly treat my tea bag! So, I will try to make a cup of tea, differently. Wish me luck!

  12. After watching the video about how to brew a perfect cup of tea, I have just realized that after all this time, I have never made it in the right way. But to be honest, I would prefer making a cup of tea in my own way and it is perfect in my own taste. As a tea lover, I like it more to make a sweet and not-so-colored tea. So, whenever I make a cup of tea, I always add much sugar, and put the tea bag not more than 3 minutes because otherwise it will make the tea becomes black (more colored) and bitter, and I really don’t like the taste of that bitter tea. Well, maybe theoretically I made the tea wrongly, but for me, myself it is the perfect cup of tea in my own version. I can’t drink a coffee at all because whenever I drink a cup of coffee, I will feel dizzy (yes, it sounds silly) so I don’t have any other choices than drinking a cup of tea in my leisure time.

  13. I’ll be honest, this might be the most British thing I ever watch in my life aside watching 3 full season of Sherlock Holmes staring Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s good to know some thing new every day in our life, especially some thing that we do wrong in every day life. But like the video said, not every body have the knowledge and time to prepare the tea the correct way. Talking about tea, I like drink my tea sweet and cold while I enjoying my food. In general, if I am eating food in restaurant, there will be a good chance that I will order an ice tea or two. Maybe in the next post we get a video about how to make other food correctly or how to use something correctly. I’d like to see in this blog post about how to guide Because for me this kind of video very helpful.

  14. I am a big fan of tea. In fact, after a month here in Yogyakarta, I have almost never skipped a day without tea. The video is quiet simple but also informative. There are some new techniques that I have never heard before. Honestly, about heating up the cup and also putting the plate on the top of the cup while waiting for the brew are something new for me. I might apply both steps later on if I make myself tea for breakfast.

In my opinion, tea is the classiest drink in the world. ‘Classy’ here doesn’t mean high class that only wealthy people could afford but it is more because its history and also how simple and healthy it is but tasted real good. Even though the Chinese invented and popularized the tea, but the customization idea by England in 1660s made it even popular and also cooler. The concept of the ‘afternoon tea’ is also something that shows the world how British adore tea so much.

All in all, I appreciate the information by the video so much due to my addiction to tea. I hope that this techniques would be realized by me later on so if one day I could go to England and able to make the real English tea, it would be an easy task for me.

  15. Im amazed how this method works differently from the way I was make a cup of tea, to be honest I don’t really care on how the tea is made, for me if the taste matches with my preferences, then it’s a good tea. I didn’t know much on how a good tea is made since I was thought only the “standard” way that people in general were usually brew their tea. Like pouring the hot water to the cup, put the tea and wait until the color and the taste change and we add some amount of sugar and adjust it properly based on our preferences. And I’m actually quite surprised that some people do care about this “simple” process. In my daily life sometimes I drink tea during the weekends, I rarely drink tea in weekdays because I have no time for making it in the morning. Also, usually I’m not the one that make tea for myself since I usually buy the ready to drink version or asked for someone to brew it for me.

  16. There is two kind of persons in this world, the coffee lovers and tea lovers. I am definitely a tea lover! Due to my hyperactivity, coffee has a negative effect in me and let’s accept it, tea taste way much better. I used to relate a cup of tea with being sick and drinking a lots of chamomile tea. However, my obsession with tea started in an organic supermarket when I saw an aisle full of different kind of teas. At that time, I was trying to lose some weight and to cut my sugar cravings. In the aisle I found some interesting teas such as: energy booster, good sleep, weight loss, etc. I got very curious and start to do a whole research about the topic. I discovered all the health benefits teas have and how they can help against anxiety, some diseases, boost your metabolism, and so on. I got the chance to go to Sri Lanka this Summer and was fascinated about the tea plantations. Indeed, I learned so much about the tea plants, how they are being processed and we even got to try many different kind of teas. Nevertheless, I found the YouTube video in the blog really useful to learn more about the perfect cup of tea. I learn some new tips that I will be implementing the next time I prepare a cup of tea.

  17. It is a fact that this world has so many fans of tea. And it is also a fact that tea has so many types of tea from all over the world. The problem is that, no matter how good the taste of the tea itself, if we can not make our tea in the good and right way, it will not be a good tea. Hearing this recording makes me think more about how tea has many different tastes based on how me made them. For example, when we boil our tea for too long, the bitterness of the tea will come out stronger than if we boil our tea in the perfect time and temperature. And also, when we boil the tea for too long, the nutrition itself from the tea will disappear. So, temperature is one of the main key to make a good tea. The other main key to have a good tea, is to make sure we make our tea with love and sense of belonging, so that it will have a good, unique taste.

  18. I have come to a realization: all this time, I have been making tea incorrectly. I did not know there was such thing as making the ‘perfect cup of tea’ but after watching the video, it turns out the way Dominic Marriott brew a cup of tea is very much different than how I make my tea and apparently there is science behind all this! Like many others, I place the teabag inside the cup, pour some hot water, dunk the teabag a few times, add a spoonful of sugar, stir it, and drink. I never really thought about the temperature of the water, squeezing the teabag, or letting the tea brew for a couple of minutes. But I think these are the things that make the tea better so next time I treat myself with a cup of tea, I will surely try following the video and take into consideration the little things that will make the tea perfect.

  19. The idea of making tea correctly have never been ran into my mind, in my life. In my whole life I never knew that I’ve been making tea with the false way. The way I made my tea was only to put hot water into the glass, put some sugar in it, and mix the hot water with the sugar. After the sugar already dissolved, I dip the tea bag 7-8 times, and leave it still in the hot water for 3 minutes. Until the water turns brown, and looks like a cup of tea, and then I drink it while enjoying the weather and my surroundings. I never knew that we have to make sure the temperature is right, and also using the ideal and right techniques. Personally I prefer to drink a cup of coffee in the morning, than drinking a hot and sweet tea, because in my family, only my mother drinks tea every morning. My father and I always makes a cup of coffee in the morning.

  20. I once visited Yi-Lan University in Taiwan, and we had a class about traditional Chinese tea. I think there are similarities between the western and eastern tradition of brewing tea. Although the biggest difference lies in the ritual surrounding the art of making tea itself. As I see it in the video, the tea taster made the tea without doing some ritual or setting before it. While in Chinese tea making, you need to have a proper table setting, a different temperature for different tea leaves, and they even have the proper ways to drink and pour the tea. The professor also mentioned that we should have different pots for different tea so that the flavor of each tea would be preserved. I would also like to mention that in Taiwan, there is a proper test and certificate that will be given to these tea master. The professor in the class already had hers several years ago. The eastern part of the world respected tea to this extent. From my point of view, that kind of traditional/ritual is lacking in the western tea art. As an eastern born person, I also highly value the art of making a tea instead of drinking a regular cup of tea.

  21. If I’m going to be honest with myself, this could be the most random, weird, and yet perplexing video I have ever seen, since I went to college. While it is true that sometimes you could see this kind of weird instruction video pops up in YouTube and you can rate it from 1 to 10, but this video probably took it to an eleven. Back to the topic though, I think it’s really cool to see how a tea should be made or how to make a good cup of tea. Here’s the funny thing though, I’m actually a tea drinker and a coffee drinker. So, in a way, that makes me a caffeine drinker since there is a caffeine in a tea. And if I have to pick one of the most delicious tea that I have ever drink, it’s got to be the English Breakfast Tea made by Twinings.

  22. After I watch the tape and videos about “how to make a perfect cup of tea”, I just realized that most people in Indonesia (I’d say more than 70 percent) had been making tea the wrong way, myself included. We typically make tea by dipping and pulling up the tea bag reapetedly into the water until the color of the tea looks just about right (slightly brown). Often times, we even use some regular hot water instead of freshly boiled water to make our tea. It actually feels kinda weird to know that something you do on a daily basis had been done in the wrong way. Seeing the videos makes me want to try making “the perfect cup of tea” as shown in the video. Which I did while I was making these comment early in the morning. I used a freshly boiled water, I let the tea bag rest until it is properly infused in the water, Last I cover the mug and wait at least around 3 minutes. My cup of tea actually finished at the same time I finished writing the comments, and it does taste a lot more flavourful than the regular method.

  23. I, myself, is a tea drinker. I really love tea and in my opinion, it’s better than coffee because it makes you feel calm and relaxed. I feel like drinking a cup of tea makes your day better every single time you drink it. I started to drink tea daily last year. I usually drink it 3 times a day with different types of tea each time. Personally, my favorite teas are chamomile, peppermint and English breakfast tea. After I decided that I wanted to drink tea as my daily habit, I searched up how to make tea properly to really get the taste. Because sometimes when you brew it the wrong way, it would be just plain and doesn’t taste as flavorful. This video helped tea drinker as well as others who just love to drink tea. It really shows you how to make the perfect cup of tea in order to get the full experience of drinking a cup of tea.

  24. I have my own definition of a perfectly brewed cup of tea. In Java, people tend to brew tea with loads of sugar and probably that is one reason why there is always some people that get type 2 diabetes. The Javanese definition of a perfect cup of tea is “Nasgitel”, an abbreviation of “paNAS, leGI, kenTEL”, translated : hot, sweet (terribly sweet), thick. But I am opposed to this definition. I rarely go to an angkringan and order sweet tea as my drink because I would rather have a bland tea with a little pinch of sugar, so that the sweetness doesn’t take away the tea flavour. Many culinary businesses provide sweet tea and lemon tea for the drink section on the menu, and everytime I visited a restaurant or just an ordinary streetside stall, I’m always going for the lemon tea or if they don’t happen to have that on their menu, I’d order a nice, hot, and strong sugarless tea in preference to trading my health for a temporary pleasure of having sugar in my drink. When I indulge myself to brew a cup of tea by my own hands, I try to find the tipping point between the sweetness and the tea flavor ( I’m not deliberately making myself sound like an expert tea brewer), but it is quite tricky and I end up, on most occasions, to have my tea inclined to having a sweet taste or the other way around. This video might be the one true guide in my path of achieving a perfectly balanced cup of tea.

  25. For me, I prefer drinking tea rather than drinking coffee, because for me coffee is too bitter and I do not like drinking something that gives you a side effect. I usually drink my tea with a couple of teaspoons of sugar to eliminate the bitter taste and give some sweet taste to the tea. After hearing the listening material and watching the video about tea, I realized there is a tradition when it comes to making a tea, after watching the video, I realized that I have been wrong when it comes to making a cup of tea. I think I am too rushed when making a tea and I never realized that there is a proper way when it comes to making a tea. In the future, maybe I will try to make the the perfect cup of tea so I can taste the difference between the perfect cup of tea and an ordinary cup of tea.

  26. After I watch the video I knew that there's art in every way we produce or make something. To be honest, I like coffee more than tea but it depends on my mood also, if it is hot then a cup of ice tea will be perfect. I remember visiting UK for the first time and try to taste every UK signature dishes, I tried Pie and Mash first and it was fantastic because the gravy is just right and it also homemade since the 19th century so it also gives something extra. Then I went to this restaurant near Victoria Park and ordered a tea, and this waitress asked me "what tea?" and I said to her" an ice tea please", then she explained to me that she has a lot types of tea from earl grey, jasmine, chamomile, and many more. Finally I decided to choose their favourite tea and actually the taste of the ice tea was good and unique.

  27. The first time i read the title of the video, what come across my mind is "What for?". Then i watched the video. After watching the video i think like "The video is actually has a point.". Most of people make tea with their own way, for example, they think that if the tea already become brown, than the tea is ready to drink. Usually people miss the most simple rule to do something, or maybe they don't know the simple rule. Sometimes, the simplest rule in the world is the rule that can make something perfect. For example in this video, most people use boiled water that already been boiled for like an hour or more. It is totally wrong. We actually have to use boiled water which is just boiled. Missing these simple steps will cause the tea not in the full flavour. From this video, i think most of people who work in the restaurant need a specual training to make a perfect cup of tea, because i'm very sure that they don't use the steps to make it perfect.

  28. To be honest, at home I am surrounded by a tea “addict” family members since my dad, in every meals that he had at home, he always prepare a cup of tea for us which consists of himself, my mom and me. Ever since my dad taught me on how to brew a cup of tea, i’m always following his method which’s pouring the tea leaves into some kind of separator and add hot water up until it reached the top of the separator, after a major color change from clear to brownish color, we pour the tea into our cups. I personally do enjoy this method and the less sugar or no sugar at all since we can taste the real “tea” since by adding some sugar, it would cover and lessen the taste of the tea. This tea making habit continues up until I move here, to Jogjakarta, my dad personally gave me lots of tea bags and tea leaves so that I can enjoy the tea like how I enjoyed it frequently at home, he said that the tea will always remind you of the home that’s why sometimes when I felt homesick, I brew a cup of tea and facetimed my dad to share my experience here.

  29. When I saw this article, it sparks my interest since I am very much a tea drinker as opposed to coffee. I find tea calms my nerves especially chamomile, green tea, and ginger tea. I like to drink my tea plain-without sugar or milk. My habit of drinking tea is heavily influenced by my father. I drink coffee rarely, only at times when I need to be up at midnight to do some studies. If I drink coffee often, it'll make my stomach sick. Although all tea works for me, my personal favourite is by the brand called Twinnings from UK. The way I make my tea is to pour hot water into the cup, and then I put the tea bag, and I let it sit for 3 minutes, then I get the tea bag out of my cup. Sometimes I put ice when I feel like drinking iced-tea, and squeeze in a little bit of lemon juice to freshen it up.

  30. If I were to choose between hot beverages such as coffee and tea, I would always choose tea above everything else. In my opinion, tea brings warmth and tranquility. This might be caused by the degree of the hot water poured into the teacup. After I watched the Youtube video above which was a video on how to make the perfect cup of tea by Ahmad Tea, I was surprised that my method of making a cup of tea is not entirely false. There were a few differences of my method and Ahmad Tea’s method. The first difference is that I do not use freshly boiled water; I use dispenser hot water. Although I do not know how the dispenser boil the water it carries, I am quite sure it does not reach a hundred degrees Celsius. Second, I do not cover the teacup after I pour the hot boiled water. I do not do this because I never knew that to it has to be done to make a better-quality cup of tea.

  31. Tea is always be a part of my family habit, because every single member of my family like to drink tea and we never even thought or think about how to make it correctly. Usually we use a traditional kettle to make the tea, and we boiled the water there until the sound “peeeeep” came out, meaning that the water has been boiled to the highest temperature. After watching the video, i realized that what i did was absolutely wrong, because over boiled the water will remove the oxygen content within the tea. The second mistake that i did was, every time i make a tea i like to do it as fast as possible. Therefore i usually only waited for about 20-30 second long on dipping the tea leaves without realizing that it could affect the taste of the tea. Basically all i did was an absolute contradiction of how a proper tea should be made.

  32. Everyone has their own version of a perfect cup of tea. I always prefer tea over coffee. Aside from it's bitterness, coffee triggers something in my body and caused breakouts on my face everytime i drink it. I've read a few article about it and turns out I'm not the only one facing this problem. I like my tea with some milk and a little bit of honey to go with it. I love many kinds of tea but my favourite one has got to be the black tea. Not only for it's strong taste but also for it's calm and aromatic smell. I don't like teas with lots of sugar in it, that'll just eliminate the real taste of the actual tea. That's why instead of using sugar, I use honey and milk to complement the taste of the tea. But of course everyone has their own perfect kind of tea so you don't have to serve it exactly like everyone else. Make your own experiment and you'll find your best way in serving a cup of tea for you to enjoy.

  33. I just realized, I boiled tea incorrectly all this time thanks to this video now I know how to serve tea correctly. I love tea so much because tea gives us benefits. Among the numerous health benefits of tea, tea is naturally packed with antioxidants, which will protect you from free radicals. This means that they boost your immune system, and are fantastic for keeping you looking fresh (thanks to anti-aging properties) and feeling great. Even though tea is not a miracle cure, these antioxidants might also help protect you against cancer. Other studies say that drinking tea could help reduce the risk of cardiovascular and degenerative diseases such as heart attacks by lowering the level of cholesterol. For this, it is worth keeping on sipping tea. Other than that I also love the flavor of tea my favorite one is ice peach tea its suitable on a hot day, but before bedtime, I prefer hot green tea to ease my mind. I'm sure you have your favorite too.

  34. Tea for me, is like meditation in a cup; it calms you all the way down, makes you feel more relaxed, and I love to do it by myself or with others. Some people like to defined themselves as either a tea-person or a coffee-person, but I don’t agree with that, like most things, there’s the time and place for everything. For me, a tea is best suited in relaxing activities, such as going to bed or reading a novel.
I would like to thank Mr. Adrian for sharing this video. I’ve always like all sorts of tea, but never had the opportunity to learn the best way to make one. This video made me realize that the simple task of tea making have a technique to it which a lot of people, including me, had no idea prior to watching this video. I hope this video will make me enjoy lots and lots of more tea.

  35. I find this audio very useful, it's telling how we brew tea perfectly. I personally choose tea than coffee, maybe because my mom always makes tea every morning and evening for my family. After listening to this audio, I realize that I don't brew my tea correctly all this time. Like what the audio says, “this is when people go wrong with the tea bag, they stand and dunk the tea bag and as soon the color are about right, they will think it’s ready to drink,” and that's how I usually do. The other mistake I usually do are not using freshly boiled water and not pouring the water into the tea when it's still in 100 degree. I also realize that making a cup of tea may sound simple and easy, but actually we have to pay attention to small things for having a perfect cup of tea. I also learn that there is science behind brewing a cup of tea.

  36. Tea is one of my favourite drinks, I love to drink almost all kinds of tea. I personally like it so much more than coffee. My favourite types are green tea, chamomile, and jasmine. I also love to add honey to my tea instead of sugar. I like the taste of tea mixed with honey better. Other than that, tea has so many benefits compared to coffee and drinking tea makes me feel good. Tea has a lot of antioxidants, can help with weight loss, can boost the immune system, can protect against heart attack and cancer, can reduce stomach cramps, and so much more. It’s amazing how much good things we can get from drinking tea. Watching the video, I make my tea just like how he makes it. My dad makes tea like that so I followed his way, and turns out its actually the correct way of making tea.

  37. Just like the majority of people commenting here, I realized that I have been brewing tea the wrong way. I thought that we just need to dunk the teabag a couple of times and that’s it, you’ve brewed a cup of tea. The video is definitely very fascinating and eye opening. I find it not practical to cover the cup and wait for three minutes because people usually people make tea for breakfast and people want to have it served quickly. However, I gain new information that I could try the next time I brew a cup of tea. Personally, I am not a tea person. Most of the time I would rather drink coffee than tea. In my opinion, tea is just boiled water with scent. It doesn’t really have a flavor unlike coffee. I would enjoy drinking tea if I add milk to it because milk would add flavor to the tea.

  38. Actually, a nice cup of tea is not my cup of tea. I prefer drinking coffee instead of drinking tea. I acknowledge that both beverages need special treatment and process to make them taste good or to make them give out their optimal taste. Not only the brewing process of both tea and coffee is complex, planting and harvesting them is also very difficult. Back in primary school, I used to spend my free time watching Discovery Channel or National Geographic and I saw a documentary on Oolong tea. Oolong tea is one of the most (if not the most) expensive kind of tea because of the scarceness and low-yield properties of it. To grow oolong tea optimally, there are lots and lots of constrains and variables to consider, some of them are humidity, altitude, temperature, soil, etc. That causes the tea to be scarce thus making the price incredibly high.

    1. The tea making procedure as seen on the video is far more simple than what I expected. When I was in high school, I spent my nights drinking coffee at a coffeeshop with my friends and sometimes I am bored of drinking coffee so I ordered tea instead. That place offered a wide selection of assorted tea. They also offer lots of methods to brew tea, depending on the type of tea. In the video, Dominic Marriott only used a simple method which is brewing with the tea bag with boiling water. Dominic didn’t use thermometers, and he also eyeballed the measurement (he didn’t use a specific measurement ratio of tea and water). Sometimes different tea origins or types need different tea to water ratio, different optimal brewing temperature, also different optimal brewing time. It is not a bad thing to make such things so simple though, it makes brewing the perfect cup of tea much more easy and less time consuming.
