  1. Ever since I moved to Yogyakarta, I’ve visiting many kinds of coffee shop. Because I think that coffee is identical to college students since most of the time we have to sacrifice our sleep to pursue other important things, which usually means meeting the deadlines of our assignment. I don’t think I already visited the “best of the best” shops around, but I’ll recommend one of my favorites. It’s called Awor Coffee & Gallery. It is located in Yap square, just south of UGM’s Mirota Kampus. It is by no means a big coffee shop, rather quite small actually. Only 4 tables inside and 2 tables outside, but they’ll usually add more table during nighttime. Why is this place my favorite? Because they change their decorations weekly. Every week, they will put up new paintings to give some sort of brand new atmosphere to the customers. So you would n’t have the same experience twice.Their coffee and food are reasonably priced as well ranging from RP. 18.000 – Rp. 25.000. I go there a lot to finish my assignments. The place just sort of giving me inspirations to keep whatever I am doing at the time. And also doing a good job of keeping me awake until 3 AM. So if you have time to spare, do visit this place.

  2. One of the reasons why I love Jogja is that everything is delicious and affordable. I have several favorites according to every budget. If you are looking for a fancy dinner with Western dishes, I would recommend Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil. It is located at Tirtodipuran, which is actually quite far from campus, but I can guarantee you that you will have a great meal. Every time I go there, I always order duck confit and pita bread with hummus. Their duck confit is very cheap (Rp 72,000) compared to the one in Paul, Jakarta which is around Rp 200,000 yet the portion is very fulfilling! For a mid-range budget, I would say that Jogja has the best mutton dishes. Do try Tengkleng Gajah in Kaliurang, or Sate Klathak Pak Pong in Imogiri. Both restaurants are able to cook the mutton so well that you won't even trace the strong smell of goat. For the cheapest choice of meal in Jogja, I bet every college students must've tried burjo, but I discovered that every burjo has different taste! My favorite is burjo Sami Asih, and their nasi orak-arik (rice with scrambled egg) is by far, the best in town and it only cost Rp 8,000. All in all, you can always have a decent meal in every corner of the city, because Jogja is simply the best when it comes to food.

  3. Yogyakarta which we usually called it as Jogja has always been a popular city for tourists, both local and foreign tourists. Because I live in a city called Solo that is located near Jogja, Jogja city is no longer foreign to me. Before I went to Gajah Mada university that is in Jogja , I often visited here with my family and friends. This city always give a different atmosphere for me, seems like full of culture. It has many places to visit, such as Candi prambanan, Ratu Boko, Malioboro Street, and so on. Besides traditional places that hold a variety of history, Jogja now also has lots of new places to visit, for instance Jogja Bay , jogja city mall, and Hartono mall. The food here is very varied, from foodstreet like satay, soto, rawon, gudeg which has a very affordable price, to unique restaurant, coffee shop, that are very popular for teenagers. For tourists who want to explore this city, i would recommend to visit some places, like maliboro street, this street is very awsome, full of food and unique things, the food price is good, and there are many traditional things, such as batik, keychains , etc, and this place is very beautiful to take photos. Another place that is very recommended is Candi Prambanan, this place is full of history, and for young people, it is perfect to make some memories here.

  4. Since I moved to Yogjakarta for my College, I’ve been searching for places that are different from where I was in Jakarta. There’s place I’ve always wanted to visit that is on the north side of Ringroad of Yogjakarta, it is the Rainbow Park or “Taman Pelangi”. To be completely honest, I wanted to visit that place since I came to Jogja, but I want to save it when I got someone that is special for me to take to, and not to be called jomblo or single in english. This place is one of the recommendation from me because it’s not like any other places in Jakarta, it has it’s own unique feature installed on the park itself that makes them special, one of the examples are when you visit them at night time, the varieties of lanterns are unthinkable alongside the path walk of the park, and the food that it has to offer really does make a good place for dates. Not to mention the special attraction that appears in weekdays. That place is really an affordable one for us teenagers in college with limited budget but still want to stroll around in Yogjakarta.

  5. Before I moved to Jogja for my college, I’ve rarely to go to some coffee shop there. The reason is just simple, I don’t like a coffee or some kinds of lattes. But, Since I move here, every day I go to the coffee shop. First, because all of my friends always do their task and enjoy their waste time, there. Second, they like a coffee lot. However, until now, I still don’t like a cup of coffee because the taste is quite bitter. Usually, I order green tea, smoothies, chocolate, in the coffee shop. My favorite is green tea in Lantai. The taste is not too sweet, but the savor of green tea is not too bitter also, so I like it. In another way, the place is also cushioned. There are a lot of trees, so it’s not too hot in the afternoon. I think it still has the best vibes and beverages there.

  6. I lived in Semarang which is only three to four hours away from Yogyakarta. That's why I visited it a lot before I moved here to continue my study in UGM. I've had chances to visit many tourism sites and restaurants. And everytime I've done visiting Candi Prambanan or Taman Sari Castle even Keraton, and many other places. There's one thing I always eat once I visit Yogyakarta: Tio Ciu Bang Sinyo. It sells shrimp, beef, chicken, and another seafood that marinated in sweet and sour sauce, and it's served in hot plates. The Hot Plate Shrimp is my favorite and just by the thought itself makes me hungry as I write this comment. Also, there are other menu, such as Fried Rice, Lomie, Cap Cay, and various kind of fried chickens. For the price, I think it is affordable as a student myself, which is below Rp 30,000.00. The place is located in Jl. Mozes Gatotkaca, Sleman near the University of Sanata Dharma. It opens at 11 AM until midnight, but it will get very crowded around 6 - 8 PM, so I recommend you to come at 4 or 5 PM. Bring your family or friend or even me to get your stomach full there. You could look it up in Google for more information or you could ask me personally about Tio Ciu Bang Sinyo.

  7. Both my mom and dad came from Jogja. My dad was in SMA 3 Yogyakarta and my mom went to SMA 2 Yogyakarta. They both got their degree in UGM and started dating during college. While they were dating, they discovered many places to dine in. And from those places, only a few of them survived and hold on to their businesses until now. If you're looking for the best mie ayam in Jogja, you should go to Mie Ayam Sompel, in Bantul. The place is very small and narrow but it gets very very crowded during lunch time. Aside from mie ayam, the other famous menu in this shop is es tape, so the tape it self got frozen first then grated and served in a bowl. And both of this menu is cost below Rp.10.000 each. In general, most of my favorite places to eat in Jogja is passed on by my parents and I will continue to pass it on to my friends and my future family ahead.

  8. On my second week of Jogja, my mom and dad visited me to help around the kosan for about a week. We haven’t had a holiday this year and we can’t go anywhere for long because me and my brother’s holiday was over. So we looked for some closer alternatives. My family have been to most of the tourism sites that’s in Jogja, but there was this one place that my dad found and fell in love in an instant: The Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a small pond of clear water that’s located in the upper parts of Sleman. The pond has very clear waters, it doesn’t feel dirty or unhealthy at all. I would suggest people to visit the place in the mornings, because the morning sun will bring up the beauty of the pond, you could also see little fishes swimming in the pond. I enjoyed my visit there, even though it was a short trip, it definitely is a memorable one

  9. Jogjakarta has a lot of amazing tourism attraction cause this city has a lot of culture and traditions. I see Jogjakarta from a different point of view because I love taking photos and street photography when I have nothing to do. As an amateur photographer, I love going to Malioboro Road to take photos of moments, and also culture of Jogjakarta itself because Malioboro is the only way to Keraton. Beside Malioboro, Gudeg Bromo in Jogjakarta has also a uniqueness that they have. The uniqueness is that the sevant for making gudeg name Bu Tekluk sometimes fall asleep when preparing the gudeg to be serve. On the other hand, Jogjakarta is also famous of its nature like Hutan Pinus in Imogogiri, Bantul which we only pay less than Rp.5000 and we can see Jogja the above. Not only Hutan Pinus, Jogja is also have Parang Tritis as a tourist destination. It is recommend that when we go to Parang Tritis we stay overnight in Queen of The South Beach Resort where we can enjoy the beach from up the hill at night.

  10. This is not my first year living in Yogyakarta. I should probably say that Yogyakarta is an interesting town to visit! I am not a part of Yogyakarta’s tourism ambassador, but I can say that Yogyakarta worth a shot to visit or even stay. I’ve always wanted to go to beaches in Yogyakarta, but for some reasons I haven’t visit any beach here, not yet. My friends told me the beauty of Yogyakarta’s beaches, so if you're interesting you probably should check that out. Other objects that I think we need to discuss is Yogyakarta’s events. There’s an annual event called “Festival Kesenian Yogyakarta” that also means “Yogyakarta’s Art Festival” which is an exhibition for local artists’ to show their creatures and passion that you can purchase in this event. This event usually called as FKY, located in different venue each year, there will be also some bands performances and foods exhibition.

  11. I am still discussing about art events, there’s also another annual event called “ArtJog” but I don’t know why, somehow the name sometimes changes. I visited ArtJog18 and I took some pictures there! ArtJog is basically an art exhibition showing local (or national) artists’ artwork in any form. This is unique because you will see unexpected things there! So, if you’re interesting in this kind of exhibition, I think you need to check that out. Another annual event is, “Pasar Kangen” which is an event showing antique or vintage things. You can purchase these antique things in Pasar Kangen. As far as I know, the venue of this event is in Taman Budaya Yogyakarta, but I’m not sure for Pasar Kangen 2019. In Pasar Kangen there will be also some foods from 80-90s era which also unique because we barely see these kind of foods, nowadays! I visited Pasar Kangen in 2016 and it was nice!

  12. I have to say that I am a fan of this section! I have only been in Yogyakarta since January, then, I still have to discover new places. As I go through all the comments, I am taking some notes of all the tips local students have written. I love being outside and exploring the nature, therefore, my best experience in Yogya was climbing the Merapi and watching the sunrise from the top. I am not sure if it is save to climb the Merapi now, however, the Merbabu is also as impressive and much easier to climb. I also love to eat and enjoy going out for dinner. Special Sambal is my favorite Indonesian restaurant but when I am looking for Western food, my favorite place is Mediterranea. I like coffee place called Epic, where they have a lovely environment and tasty food. I have found amazing workshops in Yogya as well. Once, I went with my best friends to a place where we made our own matching silver rings. The price was about 200K Rp per ring and it took us about two hours, but the end result was totally worth it. Another time, I went to a leather workshop and made my own computer case. If you are interested in this workshop I can give you the contact.

What do you think of Padang food? 'Warung Masakan Padang' are perhaps the most ubiquitous type of restaurants in Indonesia.

I was going to ask you about your thoughts on various types of Indonesian food but perhaps I will start a blog post that about that specifically and ask you, Lisa and Pierric comment on Indonesian cuisine and let the other students comment to and perhaps make specific expolanations and suggestions for foreigners looking to try as many different Indonesian dishes as they can.

The silvercraft place may have been in Kota Gede in south east Yogya. You'll probably know a restaurant called Via Via in Prawirotaman. There you can get information about short batik-making and Indonesian cooking courses.

  13. One thing that never disappoints and always amazes me in Yogyakarta is Prambanan Ramayana Ballet show. My mother took me to my first Prambanan Ramayana Ballet show when I was still in elementary school. I fell in love with the show ever since. The stage was in front of the Prambanan Temple, and the view behind it was the Prambanan Temple as the backdrop. I have watched it twice and definitely going to watch it again with my friend. I recommend you to watch the outdoor performance because you will be able to see the Prambanan Temple behind the stage and there will be fire attraction during the outdoor performance but not for the indoor performance. Outdoor performance is usually around May until October. Ticket starts from Rp 125.000 until Rp 400.000. The performance run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and it is based on Hindu history like Rama and Shinta. It is definitely worth watching the show!

  14. I think the best place if you want to relax your mind and to feed off your hunger in Yogyakarta is definitely Abhayagiri restaurant. I do not really think that they serve the best food in town but the scenery we could see from the restaurant is just truly captivating. When I went there at night, the light that shone from the city is amazing and we could see Prambanan temple from up above. We could also see Mount Merapi quite clearly from the restaurant. Moreover, the dining area in Abhayagiri restaurant is very well-decorated. There are a lot of photogenic area there; a temple miniature, rice fields, a decorated swing, and so on. But, if you want to go there, you cannot go in advance; you have to make a prior reservation. The price of the food is quite expensive compared to the taste of the food. This does not necessarily means that the price is not worth the food’s flavor.

  15. Personally, I recommend all of you to go to Goa Pindul. This place is located in the Gunung Kidul area in Yogyakarta. I went here when I was in 9th grade. At then I was attending a school live-in, and one of the programs from the school is visiting Goa Pindul. This place is where we put on our life jackets, sit in a huge size rubber tire, and we will enter a dark cave. Usually every tire will be attached to the other tires so it may form a straight line. Inside the cave, we can see the top side of the cave with a little light from outside. This site can be more fun when it is visited by a group. With the approximate price of 10.000 rupiah, we can treat ourselves with a little fun inside the cave. And this site also provides a bathroom for visitors to take bath after the activity.

  16. Since I am a local Jogja student, I have been visiting so many places here in Jogja. I have always been love natures and I do love taking pictures. One time, I visited this place called Bukit Ireng, that is placed around Wonosari at sunrise. And that was very very breathtaking. I got lucky that time because the sunrise was very good since the sky was very clear and nice. The clouds surround the sunrise perfectly, and giving the sunrise such dramatic effect. Bukit Ireng is actually just an ordinary ‘bukit’ like the other bukit around Mangunan, but what makes it special is when the sunrise become the background of the scenery there. When you visited this place, after that you can go around Wonosari, such as the beaches, the kebun buah, hutan pinus, and other beautiful places there. Also, the food there is quite good since they still offer the traditional foods there. So, it’s a one stop trip and is definitely a worth one.

  17. In Indonesia, there's a lot of cities that are beautiful, and often visited by tourists from all around the world. Jogja is one of it. That makes Jogja one of the city that has so many places to visit. I often visited Jogja, even before i study here. The place that i recommended to visit is called Abhayagiri Restaurant, Sumberwatu Heritage Resort. It is located near Prambanan Temple. It's a very beautiful place, especially at sunset. With the scenery of Prambanan Temple and Mt. Merapi, it makes this place the most beautiful place i've ever visited in Jogja. I visited the restaurant with my friends back then. And of course i went to the place when it almost sunset, so i didn't miss the sunset. You also have to trh the food. It's delicious actually, but the price.... Not so much. But, if you ask me if i want to revisit the place again or not, my answer is obviously yes. Maybe i'll go there with my family or maybe fkr a date.

  18. Freak Burger, a really good and tasty place to eat burger. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t really like popular fast food burger such as a Burger King, McDonald, Flip Burger, etc. This exact place gives you tons of beef and you can tell that this place use fresh ingredient a moment when you took your first bite. It seems quite odd that I recommend this place rather than just a traditional place or maybe some kind of tourist attraction in Yogyakarta but I need to because this place is dying. There aren’t many people know this place and they don’t really advertise them self. Maybe this place is kind of copying flip burger for it design but the taste is completely different. I don’t know, I’m confronting a dilemma. It really making me sad because this place is some sort of violating a copyright and slowly dying and they need to close own their business and happy because at thirty thousand rupiah I can have a free flow orange or lemonade, a really good fries, tortilla chips and a tasty tasty burger. In fact, while writing this, I’m sitting in their shop near Galeria Mall waiting for my burger. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that not only burger, they also serve many variant of gelato. Well, interested? Just search Freak Burger in you mobile map apps and try what I think my worth it winner for burger in Yogyakarta.

  19. Yogyakarta is known for its affordable food prices. I heard a lot about it from friends that come from outside of Yogyakarta. However, there is a place that I recommend you to visit. The place is not just about good food and good price, but also have nice atmosphere and great for hanging out with friends. The place called WM Mbah Ganis. It is a little bit far, since it is located in Kaliurang. But once you go there and try their food, you will know it is worth it. They have a really good satay with various meats: chicken, lamb, and rabbit. People usually go there when it is close to midnight. The cold temperature of Kaliurang makes it even better to eat satay and other food that they have. The price itself is very affordable, you can get satisfied with only 30.000 rupiah. You can go there with your girlfriend or boyfriend, family, or friends.

  20. Ever since I moved here, I haven’t had the luxury of time to explore the whole Jogjakarta area by myself or with my friends, but for now. The places that I enjoyed here the most are the coffee shops since that’s where mostly I spend time for work or just chilling to release tension from the large amount of homeworks and assignments given by the professor here. Even though i’m not a coffee drinker since it would cause me a stomachache or sometimes I got dizzy after I had a cup of coffee. The coffee shop I enjoyed the most in Jogja is Silol Coffee and Eatery not for doing my homeworks there of course since it’s too noisy there due to the massive crowds and the live music which makes me kind of hard to concentrate. However, the ambiance and the musics sang by the singer are the things that make me enjoy being there for a long time with my friends, just to do random talks, singalong with the singer there or just to chill. Probably I would give you my recommendations more after I had the luxury of time to visit every tourism spots here.

  21. What intrigues me most about Jogja is the number of coffee shops there are. Every single time I pass Jalan Kaliurang I always spot so many coffee shops along the streets starting from Couvee, Kedai Kopi Kulo, and many more. Coffee shops and cafés in Jogja are usually filled with university students to spend their free time or do group projects. Beside coffee shops, Jogja is also famous with the traditional Javanese cuisine called Gudeg. Gudeg Bromo Bu Tekluk in Affandi Street has to be my all time favorite gudeg. Gudeg Bromo opens every day starting from 10 PM and people usually start to queue since 9 PM. What makes Gudeg Bromo different is its areh (Gudeg sauce made from coconut milk) that tastes different from other Gudeg. Unlike Gudeg Bromo, Gudeg Yu Djum is quite dry and also one of the local favorites here in Jogja. There are also lots of tourism destination around Jogja that might not be as popular but each has its own charm. Punthuk Setumbu offers a great view overlooking the Borobudur Temple. Visitors like to visit in the early morning to witness the incredible sunrise. Timang Beach in Jogja also offers extreme challenge above the South Sea. Timang Beach is also famous because it became the shooting location for a famous Korean Reality Show “Running Man”.

  22. Previously I’ve declared my love for the sun, the moon, and the stars on “much ado about love” article. I love nature. Although, ever since I lived here in Yogya, I haven’t had the time to really explore Yogya. However, I did go to this amazing beautiful place named Bukit Bintang 2 weeks ago. There, you can see the sun sets, how the stars and the moon lit up the sky, it’s just so beautiful. I suggest you to turn off your phone while you’re there, or actually don’t because I think you’ll forget you even bring one when you get there. Also, I think this is the perfect place to take your loved ones since it is so calming and relaxing. Is it crowded you may ask, yes it is, but since there are so many restaurants along the street and the fact that all the restaurants offered the same menu consist of: indomie, mie ayam, jagung bakar, people spread all over the restaurants, so each restaurant probably only have 3-4 tables occupied.

  23. I have only been in Jogja for a little over a month but I have to say that I am already in love with this city. I am a nature-lover and food-enthusiast. If you love nature, just like me, I recommend you to visit Bukit Panguk Kediwung which is located in Mangunan, Bantul. This place is perfect if you want to catch the sunrise and appreciate the beauty of nature from above. What makes it more amazing is that during sunrise, the mountain is still covered with clouds hence why the place is named “Negeri di Atas Awan” which roughly translates to “A Village above the Clouds”. After seeing the sunrise in Bukit Panguk Kediwung, you should also visit a nearby garden called Kebun Buah Mangunan. Although it is called kebun buah which means a fruit garden, I personally think the unique feature of this place is not the garden itself but the mesmerizing view that you get to see. There, you can enjoy the view while eating Indomie with the company of your friends and family.

Although I think "I recommend you to visit Bukit Panguk Kediwung" is OK and the way people often say it (perhaps it is US English because I would never say it or write it), I believe "I recommend you visit Bukit Panguk Kediwung" is technically correct. ALternatively, "I recommend that you visit Bukit Panguk Kediwung" is correct.

e.g. Adrian recommended we listen to BBC podcasts.

The faculty recommends its student take out travel insurance.

Also: Adrian recommended listening to podcasts.

  24. Since I moved to Jogja from Jakarta, I can tell that Jogja is better than Jakarta in many aspects for a student. In Jogja, everything tends to be cheaper than Jakarta. Jogja has many unique foods that are delicious and still It’s cheaper than Jakarta, you can spend only IDR 5,000 to get delicious food to compare to Jakarta that you have to spend IDR 15,000. Many places you can visit here in Jogja such as temples, coffee shops, mall, zoo, etc that can entertain you with a low budget. You can move from one place to another with short time because in Jogja there’s less traffic and distance to reach other places is shorter than Jakarta. Another reason why I like Jogja is, peoples tend to be friendly. For an example, when you come to coffee shops, the barista and waiters greet you with a friendly and polite gesture, it makes you feel comfortable in that place.

  25. Jogjakarta is a fascinating city to live or to just spend your holiday, but around Jogja like Magelang, they have exquisite resorts such as Plataran Borobudur and Amanjiwo Resort. I stayed at both resorts last time and both gave me the experience of tranquility and full bliss. I enjoyed spending my time just chilling, drinking homemade tea with freshly baked muffins and scones. I went to the borobudur temple as well and enjoyed the sunset by the pool at the resort. Solo is another place to visit, they have varieties of culinary experience that you can enjoy such as selat solo, sate kambing, and lidah sapi. You can spend the night at Alila hotel because they have stunning view from the rooftop, and you should visit Danar Hadi Batik Museum for a historical undergo. Overall the centre of Javanese culture is Jogja, where its rich with culture and mother nature's greatness.

  26. As I mentioned previously, I am also a food-enthusiast. One of the reasons why I really love Jogja is because the foods here are cheap yet really delicious. One of my favourite local foods is bakso which is meatball and the best bakso that I have ever tried in Jogja is Bakso Klenger Ratu Sari. They serve giant meatballs that vary from a quarter kilogram in weight to the biggest one being 5 kilograms. Not only that it is very filling, it is also super delicious. On top of that, the decoration and the atmosphere of the restaurant are very traditional which makes the whole eating bakso experience different from the usual street side or warung vibe. Another must-try in Jogja is Nasi Uduk Palagan. Nasi uduk is an Indonesian Betawi style steamed rice cooked in coconut milk. It is often served with side dishes such as fried chicken, bean cake, and vegetables. Nasi Uduk Palagan is located in Jalan Palagan Tentara Pelajar, Sariharjo.

  27. Jogja is famous for a lot of things: food, museums, beaches, markets, even mountain. But the one think that makes me keen to stay in Jogja is the variety of food. If you are interested in culinary as much as I do, local food in Jogja is a must try, especially Gudeg. You can find Gudeg at almost every corner of this town. It's cheap and delicious. If you love local fried chicken, you should go to Ayam Goreng Tojoyo, it's in Urip Sumoharjo Street. Jogja is also known for Javanese Noodles or Bakmi Jawa. There are some well-known warung that sells bakmi jawa such as Bakmi Pak Pelle & Bakmi Kadin. Both of them are located near Alun Alun Kidul. And for western-European delicacies, I'd highly recommend Mediterranean Restaurant by Kamil in Tirtodipuran, Via Via restaurant in Prawirotaman, and Sixsenses Kitchen. If you are a chocolate lover, you can go to Monggo Chocolate Factory. Monggo is a leading chocolate brand in Indonesia originated in Jogja.

  28. Yogyakarta has a very beautiful landscape, and it offers endless attractions to visit. There are probably more than dozens of beaches to visit here in Yogyakarta. From the famous ones like Parangtritis beach, or Indrayanti beach until the ones that only the locals know like Wedi Ombo beach and Wohkudu Beach. If you aren’t a beach person, and more in favor of mountainous view, then you can visit Mount Merapi and take the jeep tour. Although it might be a bit costly, it will be worth it. Another attraction would be Tebing Breksi. It offers a stunning panoramic view of Yogyakarta. If you find pleasure in stargazing like me, you would want to visit Tebing Breksi during the nighttime or you can also watch the sunset then stay until night. The last time I went there, I spent almost two hours just sitting and looking at the stars. Don't forget to bring your jacket though; it might be a bit cold at night. Another interesting thing is that you can also enjoy the view of planes taking off and landing in Adisujipto Airport from there.

  29. I was born in Jogja, a city with endless ideas and creativity. “The Students’ City” has been designated for a long time since there are numerous universities. Increases in number of its inhabitants engender the increase in number of places to go (constructed malls or shopping avenues, newly explored tourist destinations, places to eat, and so much more).

I would like to recommend a Javanese-cuisine restaurant named “Cengkir”, located in Jl. Sumberan II no. 4. It’s a semi-outdoor restaurant with an old Javanese concept and architecture. A wide variety of foods are displayed on a table (buffet), you may simply grab a plate, scoop any amount of rice you want, and take your own choices of vegetables or proteins. Once you’re done, approach one of the waitress and show them your plate. They will calculate based on the types of item you’ve took instead of the amount (does not apply to proteins menu). Don’t forget to order something to drink. Then find a seat, enjoy your meal and pay before you go.

The price range for one person is Rp. 25.000 - 30.000, but once again it depends on the items you take. This restaurant is suitable for couples, families, or even alone. Every saturday night, live music is available. Immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere.

  30. Yogyakarta is a vibrant and diverse city with a lot of things to do. Frankly speaking, this is one of the reasons why I chose to study in Jogja. 2 annual events held in Jogja that I highly recommend are Prambanan Jazz and Artog. Prambanan Jazz is a Jazz concert held in Prambanan Temple inviting local and international Jazz musicians. What differentiates Prambanan Jazz to other Jazz concert is the vibe. The fact that the event is held in a temple brings a cultured, diversified and enjoyable vibe of Yogyakarta. Artjog, on the other hand is an annual art exhibition showcasing works from local artists around Indonesia. However, the works showcased are not merely visual art. Music, dance, creative industry and performing art are also part of Artjog’s exhibition.
For those of you who enjoys and appreciates art, Artjog is definitely for you.
Besides Prambanan Jazz and Artjog, Jogja is also a place for nature adventure. A place that I highly recommend for nature adventure in Jogja is Gumuk Pasir. Gumuk Pasir is a sand boarding place located in the southern area of Jogja, near Parangtritis beach. Moreover, I believe Yogyakarta have so much more to offer ranging from art, nature, culture, experience, etc.

  31. I have lived my whole life here at Yogyakarta, I admit that Yogyakarta is not that big, not as big as Jakarta or other big cities in Indonesia. Actually I am very bored with living in Yogyakarta, that is why I am so excited when I am going out of town. There are a few places though in Yogyakarta you can go, first let me talk about the malls in Yogyakarta, from all the malls in Yogyakarta, I recommend going to amplaz or ambarrukmo plaza, because I think amplaz is the nicest and most complete mall in Yogyakarta. For places related with nature, I recommend going to Kaliurang or Parangtritis beach. In kaliurang the air is pretty cold but fresh. In Parangtritis beach you can not swim, but you can enjoy the view of the beach and the ocean. For culinary, I recommend bakmi Surabaya Pak Jenggot near my house located in Ledokwareng village. I think that is all the places I would recommend, for me, Yogyakarta is a nice city to live in.

  32. Im not a a native local here in Yogyakarta, however my parents works here for almost five years, therefore i’ve visited Yogyakarta so many times and i’ve experienced tons of different foods, cultures and places in this city. Out of all the experiences that i have mentioned, there is this one place that gripped my attention the most and left me astounded up until now, and this place is called Manglung.  In short, Its basically a restaurant built on the edge of a mountain hill, and were located in Gunung Kidul. Lot of people and tourists considered this place to be “one in a million”, because it is placed strategically in the higher part of Gunung Kidul and were directly facing the city of Yogyakarta. The restaurant it self has a some sort of modern-Javanese vibes, and it provides you with a wide variety amount of foods and drinks from different regions in Indonesia. During the night, you’ll be able to clearly see the beauty of Yogyakarta from above, the lights, the airplane passing by, the stars, and trust me it will become one of those breathtaking experience you’ll had in your life.

  33. Yogyakarta is one of the most beautiful cities in Indonesia, many tourists come to Yogyakarta because most of the locals are very friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious and there are many places to go and food to taste in Yogyakarta. So, if you are wonder place to go in Yogyakarta, here are my recommendation. I would recommend you to see the sunrise in Merapi mountain or they call it lava tour. Lava tour is one of the best things to do here, it consists of 1,5-2 hours of the journey, and it cost Rp400,000,- to rent the jeep. One jeep can fit into four people. For the sunrise tour, it starts at 4.00 am in the morning. The guide will take you to the best spot in Merapi to see the sunrise, after that, you will see the bunker and museum sisa hartaku. Here are some tips, you should wear the jacket and bring some food because sometimes the wind is very strong and the tour is tiring.

  34. Jogjakarta made me fell in love in love at the first sight with its charming and beautiful culture, the friendliness and the cultural diversity of its people and yet, they all still live in harmony. The first time I went to Jogjakarta was when I was 8 years old. My grandpa and grandma took me there because they originated from jogja and they took me to several beach in gunungkidul. Back then, there were far less visitor compared to now. The beaches were very clean and the wave were very big. My grandpa told me not to swim and not to wear green clothing because of the people beliefs that if you wear green clothing it will attract “Nyi Roro Kidul” and you will be swollen by the wave.

Since I moved to jogja, I found that the foods here are pretty cheap and a lot of them taste very good. There are also a lot of good co working space and café in jogja such as Lantai Bumi, Maraville, and Ruang kerja. I recommend you to try Maraville coffee because it is very cozy and it is founded by one of the FEB UGM alumnus. The food and the drinks there are reasonably cheap ranging from 15-32k rupiah. You can hangout and spend good times with your friends there you can just chill while you do your assignment. That place is filled with good vibes and there are separated smoking and non smoking room. I really recommend you to check that place out.

  35. What I love the most about this city, that I can call my new home, is the nature around it.
The beaches and the hills in the south are perfect locations to spend time with your friends. You can stay there until late, make a fire, drink some beers, watch the stars and just simply enjoy the night. Also the waterfalls around Yogyakarta give you the option to relax and to escape for a brief moment from the busy city life.
If we’re talking about food, I really enjoy going to this place called Namamia. I believe they have the best Italian food in Yogyakarta and if you’re lucky they have Italian musicians playing as well. On the other side of the street you can find this place called “VOC Café”. It is a cheap place where you can eat both Dutch and Indonesian food. It is funny to see their interpretation of Dutch food, since it doesn’t match at all.

  36. Yogyakarta has always captivated me with its beauty and nature. Yogyakarta has many places that are both mesmerizing and nostalgic for me. One of the most vivid memory I have regarding the road trip I had as a childhood to Yogyakarta is when my cousin took us to this one Nasi Goreng Sapi place near SMAN 3 Yogyakarta. I remember eating it as child and always end up begging my father to take us back to Yogyakarta just to eat that Nasi Goreng again. A few years went by and I came back to Yogyakarta in 2016 where I finally got the chance to consume that Nasi Goreng again after a few years. The name of the Nasi Goreng place is Nasi Goreng Padmanaba and it is located at Yos Sudarso. I personally think what makes this Nasi Goreng place really unique is the taste and how you eat it by the side of the road while you are sitting down. The Nasi Goreng itself has beef in it and is a little spicy which I think is one of the reason why it tasted really similar to curry.

  37. The ambience of this city is what attracts me to finally choose to study here and stay for hopefully the next 4 years. But long ago before it, Jogja has always have special place in my heart. It was around 12 years ago when I first came here for the opening of my dad’s friend’s hotel. It doesn’t actually like a typical hotel because it only has several rooms, and those rooms are in a shape of cottages. The place is called Riverside, because there’s literally a river beside it. It’s actually located in Jalan Kaliurang, but it’s somewhere nearer the Mount Merapi and it’s located a little deep inside a village. It’s a place where people escape from the hustle bustle of a city, looking for a quiet, tranquil vibe to freshen up their mind. I’ve been there for several times over the year and I witness the place and changing growing from time to time. There were times when the river dried out, as an aftermath of the eruption back in 2010. The owner also built a music studio there where some famous musicians would actually jam and chill around there. It’s not just the nice ambience, but also the familiarity of the place that gets me nostalgic, makes me always longing to go back again there someday.

  38. It's been around one month since I moved in, today, I realized why the region of Yogyakarta is considered to be a special one. Jogja has its own special place in my heart, I can assure you that out of all the places you've ever been to, Jogja isn't anywhere near compared to it. I believe that it must've been something about the environment it offers, because out of all the hundreds of people I've met, especially the ones that had just moved in from other cities around Indonesia, not a single person has ever complained about their new environment. Around two weeks ago, I went to Kopi Merapi, a coffee shop just beside the foot of the Merapi Mountain and I went there with six of my new, soon to be best friends. It was a 40 minutes afternoon drive with nothing but the six of us screaming our lungs out to local 90s songs. When we arrived, we saw huge semi-carved stones that were meant to be chairs and tables, which is where we decided to sit. Trust me, if you've ever planned on going there, bring a jacket and just to ensure you on how cold it is, wear thick long pants. 17 degrees Celsius, as I remembered it, plus a chilling moderately swinging wind, 10.000 Rupiah for a cup of coffee, and close friends were everything I needed to consider that Kopi Merapi is my favorite place to be in Jogja so far.

  39. I live in Yogyakarta since i was born and i think i would recommend this one, my favorite place to go. That place is Mang Engking restaurant located in Godean. When i was a child, my family always came there to celebrate my parents marriage anniversary. Not only very spacious, it has natural and refreshing atmosphere because it is located far away from the central city of Yogyakarta. Not stopping there, that place has their own swimming pool and fishing area. The last but not least, the food is top notch. I would recommmend you to order honey roasted shrimp. To be honest as a child myself, it was heavenly dish for me. I would order about 2 up to 3 portions just for myself and for 9 years old me, i think it was one of the main reason i was a happy fat boy in that time. It will be the best place for you to hanging out with your friends, especially close friends or your date because the atmosphere is so good for you to be more intimate with each other.

  40. Let’s just jump right into the restaurant that I would like to recommend. Last night, I went to Gudeg Pawon that is located in Warungboto, around Taman Siswa area. It was very unpredictably delicious. Previously, I only want to eat gudeg if the gudeg is the Gudeg Bu Amad that located near UGM. I think there are two kinds of people in this world, first who prefer a sweet-tasted dry gudeg, second is the salty-savory-less sweet-tasted wet gudeg one. I can say I am the first kind of person. Bu Amad’s gudeg has a very sweet taste of gudeg that spoils Javanese’s tongue, Jogja people’s spesifically, because they were already known to more likely liking sweet taste rather than salty-chilly ones. But Gudeg Pawon, serves a different kind of gudeg. The taste is more likely a salty one, and it’s a wet kind of gudeg. My grandmother who’s Javanese, said that more tourists would prefer Gudeg Pawon one since it tastes more universal. So I would recommend to those who claim to not liking gudeg to try Gudeg Pawon first.

  41. After moving from different cities, I found Yogyakarta as the most comfortable cities in Indonesia. When I arrived here, the city was not as crowded as it is now which made me confident that it is the right thing to study in Yogyakarta. For me, traffic is the number one thing that I must consider because I hate traffic. The second reason is Yogyakarta is known as the city of students and there are so many coworking space in Yogyakarta. There are also temples in Yogyakarta that people or mostly tourists can visit such as Prambanan. There are also lots of “angkringan” which is a street vendor in Yogyakarta that provides cheap and delicious food. Fast food restaurants are also available in Yogyakarta like Mc Donald’s, Burger King, and other big fast food restaurants. Mount Merapi, the most active volcano in Indonesia is located in Yogyakarta and people love it as a background for their photoshoot. I really recommend Yogyakarta for everyone to visit, or even live here because the people here are also nice.

  42. There is so many places to go in Jogjakarta. Years ago, I came here not as a student but as a tourist and here is the places or activities that I would recommend. First, there is Merapi Tour. This is a must if you're in Jogja, especially if you're with your friends. Second, there is Tamansari. Everything about this place is just so traditional and beautiful. Other than the tourist spot, I really recommend Mie Afui Palembang for the food. It is basically a "Mie Ayam" but the portion and taste is just wonderful. It is also cheap, so it is good for students. Gudeg is also a must if you're in Jogja. I heard there's this delicious Gudeg place called "Gudeg Bromo" but they only open at night (around 11pm). If you want to be just like local, maybe Warmindo is the best place to go since it is everywhere. There is still a lot of unique and incredible places in Jogja that I haven't visited yet so that is all for now.

  43. I am a food-enthusiast and considering that I am staying in Yogyakarta makes me very happy, for me Yogyakarta is a very lively city. Yogyakarta is famous for: culinary, tourist destination and center of education. Many locals and tourist go travel for food and choose Yogyakarta as a place to find traditional food. As in this comment, I would like to recommend my favorite place to eat, it is called Bakmi Mbah Gito. It is a Javanese noodle, located in Rejowinangun and it has the best bakmi godok in town (based on my experienced). And don’t hesitate to bring your lover. I also want to recommend a Ullen Sentalu museum at Jl. Boyong Taman siswa, the atmosphere is tranquil and the concept of not allowing visitors to take pictures my favourite is the Tineke room (Tineke is younger sister of Pakubuwana XII). You will find many handwritten letters that are mostly romantic and heartwarming, or otherwise, heartbreaking.

  44. Firstly, I would like to recommend Ruang Seduh on the southern part of Yogyakarta (Tirtodipuran) and Filosofi Kopi on the north. Ruang Seduh is a very specialised coffee shop as they serve the best beans in the best way possible by a barista and Filosofi Kopi’s scenery is extraordinary: chilling vibes on the edge of a rice field and the buildings made in traditional Joglo architecture.
Secondly, KOBUKI studio. They produce high-quality leather shoes, but what makes them stood out is they design their shoes uniquely, and all of their products were handmade. They sell their shoes mainly in Bali and Bandung with small stockists in Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
Thirdly, Warung Indomies, also known as “Warmindo” and “Burjo”. In Jakarta, they are the equivalent of a “Warteg”. They serve cheap foods based on Indomie instant noodle. While eating in a Warmindo, try to chat with the servers, they are very polite and super friendly.

  46. Jogja is a beautiful city, surrounded by good foods and wonderful nature. I’ve been visiting Jogjakarta since i was a child. A part of me grew up in Jogjakarta, and i already consider it as my second home. Jogjakarta is also my father’s hometown, so i obviously visits Jogjakarta nearly every week, but ever since my grandparents passed away, we rarely visit Jogjakarta. One of my favorite place to visit is the angkringan, that spreads all around Jogjakarta. Nearly every corner in Jogja have at least one angkringan which opens at night. Usually, angkringan sells many types of snacks and rices. The rice is often served with some traditional dishes, like oseng tempe, sambal goreng, etc. They also serve local Indonesian fritters, baked peanuts, satay, and other snacks. Angkringan also serve hot traditional drinks, such as wedang jahe, wedang uwuh, and some angkringan serves wedang ronde. Angkringan vendors usually open their angkringan on their cart and build a tent around it.

  47. Since I was in Jogja for almost four years, the thing I like the most as a student is about cafe in Jogja. Coffee Shop in Jogja is unique because each of them provides different quality. The first cafe that I really like is Simetri Coffee Roaster near the Yogyakarta city library. The coffee provided in this place is expensive, but the atmosphere at the Coffee shop is very quiet and comfortable. The second cool cafe is Ethikopia CoffeeBay, the thing that makes it unique is that this cafe is open for 24 hours, the place provided is very comfortable and spacious. For me spending time at the coffee shop gave me a lot of inspiration. Doing college work at the coffee shop gives me enthusiasm to finish it. Drinking a flat white cup lit up my adrenaline to finish the task quickly. Then there is a coffee shop that sells take away coffee. The name of this cafe is Laju Kopi Cepat. I haven’t tried it but I just recommend it for you.

  48. As I have only been in Yogyakarta for a month and a week, I don’t really have any amazing places to recommend but I would really recommend going around UGM itself because UGM covers a very large area and it has 18 faculties with a vocational school and master’s degree buildings at it. I have been to about 8 faculties and each one of them are interesting in its own ways. The Faculty of Engineering is one of the best I’ve seen so far because the faculty itself can actually make its own institute of technology as it’s UGM’s largest faculty and has a lot of departmental buildings. I personally like the Faculty of Social Science and Political Science and our Faculty of Economics and Business because they have massive buildings like the Pertamina Tower and the grand front part of the former itself. I would really like to go around the science area like the Faculty of Mathematics and Science and Faculty of Medicine because from the pictures I’ve seen, they also look very interesting.

  49. Since I grow up in Yogyakarta, I know many places that is very interesting to be visited. Yogyakarta or Jogja offers paces with different for example if you want to hang out with your friend and enjoy the atmosphere then Prawirotaman might be good for you or if you want to enjoy the night while have a good view then I suggest to visit Bukit Bintang. But what I really suggest is Malioboro. I realize that people are thinking that it is only for tourist that come to jogja but it is not true since I go to malioboro really often. You can find everything in malioboro, from the snack along the Malioboro till the atmosphere over there. What you have to do in malioboro is; if you are a photographer then you should bring your camera along with you since there will be a ton of human interest, Do not forget to bring accompany with you and you will have a good time, make sure to try “lumpia” in front of mutiara hotel, and please use comfortable clothes since you have to travel by foot, and the last is you should have a meal in Yammi Pathuk that is located not far from the main street of Malioboro and you could rent a rickshaw to get there.

  50. I have lived in Yogyakarta for 14 years now, and of course I have visited many interesting places here. I love nature and I love sunset, so I want to share to you the good place to see the sunset here in Jogja. Actually, the evening sky here always looks pretty, so do not have to go far to see the sunset, you can enjoy it in the cafe or home or on the street. Some cafes in Jogja have put their cafe facing to west so we can directly see the sunset. Let me give one name of the cafe, it is called Ivy Coffee, it is in Jl. Sidomukti, Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman. But if you want to see the sunset from the top of the hill with the sounds of the waves, the right place is called “Bukit Paralayang”. It is a very nice place to see the sunset and since the hill is placed near to the beach, the sounds of the waves make it even better while you watch the sunset.

  51. I’ve arrived in Yogyakarta less than six weeks ago, so I haven’t had the time to visit all the places and restaurants in the city yet. However, there are some places that I really like. First of all, I’ve tried some coffee shops and my favorite so far are: the Peacock Coffee, because it is very close to my house, it is open 24/7, and their cakes are delicious, and the Estuary Café which has a nice atmosphere to work. Then, even if I love the Indonesian food, I sometimes miss French and European food. For Western food, the Mediterranea restaurant is an amazing place and their “magret de canard” is just perfect. The Cinema bakery is also a nice place to have breakfast sometimes. Concerning the places to go out, one of my best experiences was a concert of electronic music in the Jogja National Museum, it was the first time that I saw this kind of atmosphere in a museum and that was very interesting.

  52. Although I live in Yogyakarta for about a year now, I never really go outside and actually explore the city itself until I got accepted into UGM. I know some places in the Jakal area that have really good food and a nice place to study but a lot of them are already mentioned above. I do have a particular place in mind if you are looking for a café to study at. This café is called Antologi Collaborative Space. The place opens at 7 AM and closes at 10 PM. This place serves varieties of coffee and teas with prices ranging from 12,000 to 30,000 thousand Rupiah. It’s located in Jl. Gayamsari 2 No. 9, Jogja atau di belakang Gading Mas (Jalan Kaliurang KM 5). I would highly recommend going during noon time (9 AM-12 PM), where the place is nice and quiet, which allows me to do my work peacefully without distraction. This place also offers comfortable chairs, sofas, bean bags for those who just wanted to chill in the café. What unique about this place is the mini-libraries and the writings on the wall that are sometimes filled with jokes and random quotes. This place also gives free Wi-Fi for the customers and it’s actually quite fast if there aren’t a lot of people in the place.

  53. Since the last day of PPSMB, I rarely meet my high school friends who also study here at UGM. One of the main reason is because we’re separated in some different faculties. Until finally, last week, one of them just turned 18th and he decided to treat us food; which I’m so happy that I can meet them again. Well at first, I thought that he will treat us food like the one in the mall or fast food restaurant. Luckily not! He said that he want to introduce us to one special restaurant that he recommend for it’s great vibes and great food. Then I wonder, where would it be? Finally, I found out that the restaurant is called The Manglung; it’s a restaurant that located in Star Hills, Gunung Kidul. Star Hills itself is a place where we can see the overall view of Yogyakarta from top of a hill, it required more less one hour trip from the city of Jogja to get there. Especially in the night, the view is beyond stunning; which we can see not only the city lights but also the star lights. Beside from the magnificent view, the restaurant also offer various type of food start from Nasi Goreng, Rawon, Mie Dok Dok, and many more within an affordable price. So this place is highly recommended for those of you who need a refreshing place out of the city of Jogja, place for date, or even for your family gathering.

  54. Before I decided to study in Yogya, I used to visit this city because some of my family live in Yogya. Back then, I usually spent most of my time in the southern part of the city specifically in the Prawirotaman. I stayed in a hotel called Gallery Prawirotaman, the hotel is really cozy and it makes me feels at home. At night, me and my family usually go to a rooftop in a hotel named Greenhost as they are having good live music. Other than that, I really love to watch sunrise and sunset. One of location that I visited to watch the sunrise is Candi Ratu Boko. The view is amazing as we can see the Prambanan Temple and also the Mount Merapi. I also visited the Parangtritis beach to watch the sunset, the place is really crowded as a result I cannot really enjoy the view. In conclusion, Yogyakarta is a very beautiful city and there are still a lot of places that I would like to visit.

  55. Jogja is well known as ‘kota pelajar’, a city full of students. A lot of college students like to go to coffee shops to study, work in groups, or just to hang out with friends. And Jogja is filled with so many coffee shops, I have went to a lot of different ones but my favourite one at the moment is Ruang Kerja Coffee & Collaboration. It is located in Jl. Prof. DR. Sardjito, Terban, Gondokusuman. It’s convenient, around 5 minutes from UGM with car, or 15 minutes if you prefer to walk. Food and drinks at Ruang Kerja are also quite cheap, with drinks ranging from Rp. 7.500 to Rp. 25.000 and food ranging from Rp. 15.000 to Rp. 38.000. The place is not that spacious compared to other cafes such as Estuary or Sinergi, but it’s really comfortable. Other than that, I enjoy going here because the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Sometimes coffee shops don’t have good food, but I love the food in Ruang Kerja. I’d recommend the roasted duck, carbonara, or fried kwetiauw.

  56. Living in Magelang for three years and going back and forth to Yogyakarta for three years made me know what are the best places in Yogyakarta. The problem that i face when i was in highschool is that i didn't know much about the best places to hang out with a cheap price for students in Yogyakarta. When i was in highschool i just knew about the best places that probably everyone knows about.

Living in the university life in UGM made me then realize the best place to hang out with a convenient price in Yogyakarta. One of the best place that i can find here if you want to hang out or probably just finishing you assignments is Lantai Bumi. Lantai Bumi is a coffee shop that enables you to hang out with your friends or just simply do assignments, and it even gives you the chance to reserve a meeting room for you and your friends if you want it to be more private.

  57. I would recommend Museum Ullen Sentalu located in Kaliurang. I know it’s far from the city center, despite the distance it’s worth the trip. For those of you who loves history or trying to find new place to eat with a different atmosphere, you have to visit Ullen Sentalu!

If you’re planning to have a fancy lunch or dinner with your friends, taking your family or your loved ones to unique place, then you should try to visit this place. Ullen Sentalu is actually a Javanese culture and art museum. You can explore different sections here, improving your knowledge on Javanese culture, or maybe taking Instagram worthy pictures to post. Afterwards, you can sit back and relax in Beukenhof Restaurant and please your eyes with the amazing view from the restaurant’s balcony while enjoying good food. They serve mostly western foods with a slightly above the average price for students. However, in my opinion the price tag they gave to the meal is equal to the exquisite taste. Plus, its not everyday you eat in a fancy restaurant as beautiful as Beukenhof Restaurant and going there would be a unique culinary experience.

  58. Yogyakarta is a city with a lot of landmarks and tourism hotspots, not to mention the region of Central Java. Don't say true adventurers if your every visit to Yogyakarta are just stops at Malioboro or Parangtritis Beach. In fact, Yogyakarta already have dozens of new tourist attractions that are major hits, contemporary, and Instragramable for visits.
The city of Yogyakarta is very thick with the culture of the palace, besides the street artists who are quite creative and interesting in singing various popular songs along the busy Malioboro road, I came to this city as if in the Mataram kingdom period was full of very interesting cultural heritage to be visited many times, the food sold on the side of Malioboro street is delicious and cheap as well as batik clothes. But what I admire most is the extraordinary Prambanan temple's physical building, its stone carvings are beautiful, I think how come people in ancient times made buildings as beautiful as that, Borobudur temple is also beautiful, I suggest for those who want to go or take a trip to Yogyakarta and don't forget to Prambanan temple you will be amazed to see the temple.

    1. A number of foreign tourists visiting Yogyakarta claimed to be amazed by Yogyakarta's tourism potential. They said that the tourism objects of this area were not only Ngayogyakarto Palace, Prambanan Temple, and Malioboro, but it turned out that there were still many other interesting attractions to visit, including traditional handicraft centers.

In addition, there are several other reasons, namely the cost of living and the price of cheap souvenirs and the local cultural environment that is still thick and rooted in the lives of people in this area. All these potentials should be maintained and sustainable so that they are expected to attract tourists to visit this city.

The conclusion of this comment is that Yogyakarta can be stated as a city with a vast amount of tourism hotspots, possibly rivaling Bali. There is too much to be honest, but it helps the economy of the locals, so it’s a positive thing in the outcome.

  60. Talking about places in Yogyakarta, there are a lot of places that are very recommended to visit in Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is very famous of its cultural heritage. Yogyakarta is a city that have a lot of tourism spot that you could enjoy. There are some popular tourist attraction like The Sultan Palace, Malioboro Street, Parangtritis beach, etc.. One of the tourism spot that I would recommend to you to visit is Gembira Loka Zoo. Gembira Loka Zoo is the only zoo in Yogyakarta. This place is already developing and becoming a very nice zoo to visit in Yogyakarta. They have a wide range variety of animal collections that you could see there. They even have some penguins. Gembira Loka itself located at Kebun Raya Street, No.2, Rejowinangun, Kotagede, Kota Yogyakarta, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 55171. There are a lot of things that you could do besides seeing the animals. You could feed the animals, seeing the animals show, or even play some attraction there if you bored. I would totally recommend Gembira Loka Zoo for you who interested in animals and want to refresh yourself.
