GETTING CHARGED UP
Over the last decade or two, there have been electric cars, but they have been like exotic animals on a safari—you barely see them around, because they are highly unusual and mostly considered a curiosity, better shown in a zoo. A key reason has been the expense of the new technology, along with the fear of running out of gas—whoops, out of a charge—since most of these cars can only go up to 100 miles between charges. And if you are running low, you can ’t really ask someone to bring you a gallon of gas in a can. No, you need an electrical charger to get you charged up and ready to go again. Otherwise, you are essentially stuck—I mean stalled.

All that may now be changing, resulting in a true renaissance for electric cars, according to a 2010 news article. That ’s because there are two new approaches to giving electric cars an expanded range: one is having better batteries or being able to switch to another battery when one gives out; the other is developing a growing network of charging stations. At such stations, you pull in and park next to an electric pole to charge your car or switch batteries. Plus many stations will be adding other perks, such as getting trip planning information and using an iPhone application to see where other charging stations are.
These charging stations are being developed by a number of California-based companies, including Coulomb Technologies in Campbell, Better Place in Palo Alto, and Clipper Creek in Auburn. Other companies around the country can be expected to follow suit. The U.S. government has gotten behind the development of these electric cars with a $100 million federal stimulus grant, so that over 11,000 charging stations will be installed in test cities in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Tennessee. And it ’s a concept that works, since Better Place has already developed 1,000 charge spots in Israel, its first major market.

What these developments mean is that you can soon travel all around the country in an electric car, not just around town, which is how most of these car owners have been using them. Soon you might expect to fi nd charging stations in public parking lots and gas stations, and some may be installed in workplaces and in private homes.
Meanwhile, more and more car companies are joining the electric car bandwagon, including Nissan, which will have over 7,000 Leaf cars on reserve for buyers by the end of 2010. And other cars will be joining the pipeline, including the Chevy Volt and a sedan from Coda, a new Santa Monica start-up.
Thus, it seems like the future for electric cars is here, and over the next few years, this development can be expected to change our driving landscape. For one thing, these charging stations are likely to become ubiquitous, both in public places along the highway, such as rest stops and restaurants, and in private places such as at home and at work. Since a key factor holding back the development of these cars has been the lack of charging stations, as more and more stations get built, there will be more and more cars, which will trigger a drive for more and more charging stations.
Then these stations might be located not only in places that already exist, much like Wells Fargo has branches in hundreds of stores and shopping centers, but also in new complexes that are inspired to form around them, such as malls with anchor stores and recreational centers for people who stop to charge. There might even be nightclubs, pubs, and amusement parks springing up near these charging centers, making charging a fun, social experience. Different centers may even create their own brand names, so you might be able to acquire caps, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and other bric-a-brac with the name of that station.

In short, you can expect a coming revolution in the way we travel and the kinds of cars we drive as a result of the expansion of these charging centers. And as more and more of these electric cars are sold, you can expect the prices to come down, too, so even more people can own these cars and travel this way. Meanwhile, the old gas guzzler might become more and more of a relic. This new electrifi cation of driving could help solve the problem of our dependence on oil from the Middle East, as well; if cars are fueled by electricity, there ’s less need for foreign gas and oil.
So get ready to get electric—and charge up yourself as well as your car.

For me, in the future, there will be less cars that can be found roaming on the streets. Since people nowadays were starting to utilise more public transports instead of personal vehicles like cars or bikes. If the positive development of public transportation in many countries are continuously maintained, people would no longer purchase cars for their daily transport, and the development of electric cars that’s going to replace fossil fuels that’s decreasing from time to time is also would be the pioneer for the development for cars in the future, even though that electric cars that can be found in several countries like Indonesia are much more expensive than the cars using fossil fuels and some models are not as fast as the cars utilising the fossil fuels, I hope that these issues are going to be solved as soon as possible so that people would be attracted to purchase electric cars since it’s more environmentally friendly and would definitely use less fossil fuels so that it would save the stocks for future purposes.
ReplyDeleteNaufal wrote: "Since people nowadays were starting to utilise more public transports instead of personal vehicles like cars or bikes."
ReplyDeleteThis is an incomplete sentence.
What you mean, I think, is:
"This is because people nowadays are starting to utilise more public transport instead of personal vehicles like cars or bikes.
Notice also that "transport" is an uncountable noun and therefore cannot be written as a plural.
Since the growth of electric vehicle is rising, I think now that the biggest question now for the electric cars producers are, how are they going to produce it and what is the real benefits of going electric in cars?Electric cars battery are composed of lithium and lithium is not a common metal on earth, unlike iron that is made to cast a car’s engine block.
ReplyDeleteA growing electric car company and it’s CEO, Tesla and Elon Musk, had established many quick charging stations for their electric cars. This station is said to charge a car to 100% in less than 80 minutes and they are free of charge for Tesla owners. Even though that this is very brilliant, I don’t think that people can change from gas powered vehicle to an electric vehicle in short period of time. Since charging an electric cars takes a lot more time compared to filing up the gasoline in a normal car, owning an electric car will be more of a hassle and thus reducing the consumers from the suburbs with little to no access to Tesla’s quick charging port. Before the gas price rose to a point where it is not justifiable to buy gasoline powered cars, I don’t think that consumers are going to switch to a different type of vehicle. And rather than focusing on electric cars development, the government should focus more on public transportation since it will reduce the pollution and also the traffic.
After reading this article I realized that the enhancement of technology has been adequate enough to maintain the natural sustainability. The word Electric cars still sound like a dream to me. Nevertheless, it is a proof that the advancement of human intelligence and technology in the transportation industry has been rapidly improved. The likes of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and other entrepreneur started their own electric car company to fulfill the demand of customers that wanted to have a car while still maintain a minimum amount of pollution or even makes no pollution at all. The sales of these electric cars also give a positive feedback, in fact british and American people has started to use these electric cars more frequently. The electricity that required to use the car is also cheaper than the usual gasoline, so the electricity car is a good and useful innovation for the future of natural sustainability.
ReplyDeleteThe development of electric cars is a good thing for the environment, electric cars mean less pollution that our regular cars that use oil and create and release a lot of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere responsible for global climate change.
ReplyDeleteThe increase of charging station in the unites states proves that consumer are ready to change their car and switch to an electric one, it will also persuade potential consumer to buy an electric car if they can recharge it in many places, especially with the idea of making it a fun and social experience, it can convert more costumer to get an electric car.
Another great thing about electric cars is that it create less noise than regular one in plus of respecting the environment, it will be marvellous if we could also have electric scooters, especially here in Indonesia, it will reduce pollution and noise create by regular scooters.
For me, I love electric cars, I love them because, I think they are more stylish and modern looking than regular cars. I also thought that electric cars are environmentally friendly, because they did not emit any smoke pollution, and we also do not need to use fosill fuel. I would love to own one, but I think electric cars are too expensive, I think that is one of the downside of electric cars, their price. The development of electric cars has been very tremendous in recent years. That is why I think that there should also be electric motorcycle, I think electric motorcycles would be more cheaper than electric cars. In my opinion, there should be more electric cars in Indonesia, because electric cars are rare in Indonesia. And I also think that we should develop electric motorcycle. In the future, I would like to have an electric car, especially if I can have a tesla.
ReplyDeleteAutomobiles is not a new invention by mankind. In fact, first automobile was invented back in 1769 when Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot, a French inventor, built a self-propelled road vehicle for the French army (steam powered). Yes, it was three centuries ago. Despite that fact, the first commercially made and available for sale “car” was invented only more than a century later, when Karl Friedrich Benz released the third model of Benz Patent Motorwagen (gasoline powered). It was just three years after he invented the first model in 1885. What surprised me after doing some research though, the first electric automobile was actually invented years before the gasoline powered automobile. Robert Anderson, a Scottish inventor created the first electric carriage around 1832–1839. So, electric car is not a new thing after all.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you something. What comes to my mind every time I heard the word ‘car’ is actually the brand Tesla. I think that the innovations that Tesla put into their cars are stunning. Their cars aren’t just an ordinary electric powered vehicle, they are also autonomous. However, there is actually one problem that electric car manufacturers like Tesla need to solve. These companies should focus on making more charging stations. No matter how impressive these self-driving cars that Tesla has made, I believe that if they don’t provide a place to refill the energy of these cars, people will never move on from gasoline powered cars. And the consequence is that, the great idea of creating a more environment friendly transportation might turn to nothing. Anyway, I think it is still a long way for us to turn to these future cars as there are still so many things to be improved on.
I actually agree with what Dimas Aria has explained on how charging an electric car takes a lot more time than just pumping gasoline into a conventional car. As much as I’m excited with what the future has to offer for the all the continuous efforts that many automotive companies have exerted in making electric and more eco-friendly vehicles into a reality, the sales for these revolutionary vehicles should be regulated properly in a way that the number of electric cars owned by consumers in a particular country should not exceed the sum of all the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations assigned to that place. Unless these automotive companies are aware of this potential problem and plan a strategy to mitigate the incoming storm, greenhouse gas emissions will just be replaced with more traffic jams and really slow economies caused by low productivity of electric cars’ owners. Moreover, I believe that the advent and distribution of electric vehicles pose a threat not only to oil industry companies, but also on car workshops whose main sources of revenue are derived from fixing faulty cars or vehicles that are in constant need of maintenance. This is basically due to the fact that electric cars are not as prone to suffer the complications as what conventional cars will probably to go through quite a few times during their years of service. It would be just as if newer and more advanced technologies were always gradually choking the life out of older and more outdated technologies.
ReplyDeleteElectric cars have lots of benefits over the cars we use today. It’s certainly much more eco-friendly which reduces harmful air pollution that leads to better air quality. Electric cars will reduce health problems caused by air pollution and improve a better quality of the environment. Seeing that this article was written in 2011, I never saw any electric cars lying around in the streets nowadays. Well, maybe it’s because I live in Indonesia. I’ve done a little search on Google, and I found that the parts of the world that use electric cars the most are California, Europe, and Hongkong. Though the use of electric cars is still very little compared to normal ones. For example, it is only just 4.8% of electric cars out of all cars in California. It would take a long time for electric cars to dominate petrol cars. I agree that having electric cars will make countries stop relying on oil obtained from the Middle East, which would make traveling a lot cheaper. Plus, having an eco-friendly environment by using electric cars is a massive step towards a better future.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this article, I was amazed by how advanced automotive technology has grown throughout the years. I think electric cars are really the future of automotive, maybe not just cars but all kinds of transportation may be powered by electricity in the future. More electric cars mean less pollution for the environment and a more healthy life for other people. Still, there are only a small percentage in implementation of electric cars in the real world so it is still very rare for us to see an electric car on the roads. But, electric cars do still have their weaknesses. For example, electric cars doesn’t sound as nice as a petrol powered car, this is something I really hate because I really like to hear how a car’s engine sounds like, and although some electric cars solve this by using a fake engine sound from their integrated speaker in the car it still doesn’t sound as nice a conventional car. So I think people should stay using petrol or diesel powered car than having to buy a more expensive electric car.- Dimas Aditya Permana
ReplyDeleteAutomotive technology has made leaps and bounds over the last few decades or so with the introduction of electric cars that produce zero direct emissions and have been considered by few as a godsend to the future of our environment. Although electric cars are statistically proven to be more environment friendly it does share it's fair share of disadvantages such as considerably lower gas mileage than conventional cars, but despite that the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks and unsurprisingly becoming more popular among the regular consumers. The main obstacle that electric cars face to becoming more accepted is the way of thinking of the people to not trust anything that was only invented a couple of years back. A few nations also disprove of the spread of the electric cars be it because of them being distrustful of the emission tests or other reasons such as the plummeting of the oil nation's economy should electric cars are more prevalent. If and when electric cars are widespread among the consumers and thus reducing the production of conventional cars we would have a very bright future ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteIn this article i'll offer some personal thought, The automobile has been a symbol of power, speed, prestige, and individualism. When the technology industry meets the automobile manufacturer, it became so futuristic. Yet the changes ahead won’t balance the great and the terrible of the past. Instead, the conflicts between freedom and community, power and equity, will play out in the way. Companies have been trying to modify features to cars over years, until lately the electric car became a huge hit. The industry simply improves design, extending performance and making it more advanced. I would choose to buy an electric car because we can reduce gas emission and its better for the environment. Lower maintenance costs on electric cars, because it doesn't need oil changes is the another reason why. But the price of electric cars in the market is still considered higher than usual cars. Either way, this innovation of mankind plays a major role in auto industry.
ReplyDeleteElectric car is always being advertise to be cleaner and environment friendly alternative from the old and polluting gasoline powered car. Although I am exited with the growth of technology of automobile is lean towards electric car, there are problems that we need to face. First is the time we need to charge our electric car. When we use conventional car powered by gasoline, we can just refill the car with gasoline with ease and not time consuming because we just basically fill a gas tang with gasoline. While electric car needs to be charge like phone in general that certainly take more time. The other problem I want to point out is from where the electricity come from. Some countries in the world still depend on un-renewable source of energy like gasoline and coal and those make a lot of pollution. Electric car relies heavily with the big amount of electricity to charge the car battery, if we use so much electricity while we still using coal to create electricity then we just polluting the same if not more than we use conventional car.
ReplyDeleteThe emergence of electric cars apparently is a trend in the world nowadays, because people becoming more and more concerned about the price of petrol which might experience extreme fluctuations due to the fact that petrol might be one of many scarce resources.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of electric cars seems like a sceptical ideas in our society especially indonesia. Besides the price of the cars itself which is insanely expensive which makes it unaffordable in current situation of the market of electric cars that considered as a new established market.
The other concern is regarding of the difficulties to find a charging port throughout the country, as we know in indonesia we still heavily relied upon the mainstream cars meaning the cars using petrol.
I think to make the people use the electric cars i think that the manufacturer try to build a cheaper version of the existing car, the fact that those electric cars mainly sport cars, SUVs which can be considered a luxurious car. So they need to establish a strong market first before entering the market for luxurious cars.
I think that one of the biggest problems of our time is pollution and how it affects the environment. It is one of the main challenges of our generation to overcome this environmental issue with creative ideas. Electric cars are a clever invention that could help to reduce our consumption of oil, and therefore, decrease our negative impact on Earth. I think that in the future, more and more people will realize that they need to take care of the environment to leave the Earth in good condition so that the next generations will be able to have good living conditions. As people realize that, they will be more and more tempted to use an electrical car. We should also take into account that oil is a non-renewable source of energy so electric cars are a good alternative to regular cars. Moreover, electric cars would also help to reduce the noise in the cities.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that this type of car is a good idea especially after the writer stated that people can go between countries easily. There are lots of accident on land transportations because of the quantity of vehicles that are roaming around. If the transportation on air increases, then scarier accident might happen more because of the height. To be honest, I really prefer public transportation over these futuristic cars. The advantages that these vehicles have are their cool design and their ability to change battery whenever. Travelling can be easier when you know that you can just change your battery easily without having the need to find any gas station, electric car can also make gas companies lose their profit. People will just charge it near their house. It is great that that these futuristic cars can be environmentally friend and reduce pollution, but I do not see them making an appearance especially in Indonesia; a country that still has not fixed their transportation issues
ReplyDeleteWe live in a millennial world where technology is the future for our next life. We see that through technology, everything is possible. And in the future, technology is definitely will be developed more and more. The problem is, when our technology is developing, our natural environment is decreasing its function and value. The best way for our world is when both the technology and environment are developing together in harmony. So, after reading this article, I could see that this is one of the way for our technology and environment to develop together in harmony. This is the new level of technology, a car with the use of electric that is friendly to the natural environment. The kind of technology that is advanced yet a good investment for the future of our world. This is one sector from transportation, I believe, that in the future, people will be more responsible to the environment society and create advanced technology that is friendly to the environment of our world.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of futuristic car is often unimaginable for the majority of people in the past. But now, we are generally attracted to our own imagination or fantasies of “The transportation of the future”. Who knows what the worlds most popular transportations are turning in the future. Before thinking about the highly futuristic flying cars that we often see in sci – fi movies, the technology referred to the future might be getting closer to being available for the mass consumption. This technology is what we know as electric cars. As the general public knows, we are running out of un-renewable natural resources : Oil , gas, etc. It cannot actually be precisely predicted as to when will it eventually run out, but we all know for sure that these natural resource will not exist for eternity. The technology of electric fueled cars are being developed at a fast rate in order to enables these electric cars to be accesible to the general public with affordable price, good fuel – efficiency, and less emission. We can take tesla for example, specifically the new concept of tesla roadster which is going to be released to the public at 2020. The Tesla Roadster is an all- electric powered car, Yet it can goes from 0 to 97 Km/ hour in under 2 seconds (1.9 to be precise) which is faster than any street legal car available to date including the bugatti chiron. These shows that the future of electric car is getting closer, and that is highly possible that electric cars are going to be the transportation of choice in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThe potential environmmental benefits of electric vehicles are huge since petroleum vehicles produce more greenhouse gas emissions that can cause a global warming and climate change and considered dangerous to our environment, this is one of the reason electric vehicles could be the alternative or replacement for petroleum vehicles, eventhough electric vehicles could give us a huge benefits it still face challenges such as most electrical vehicles are more expensive than conventional cars, only few brands produced electric vehicles, and hard to find charging station especially here in indonesia. This is why the government could play as an important role in this industry, the government should import or develop electric vehicles and encourage the spread of public charging stations, through tax breaks, other incentives or public spending, so more people will take the plunge and convert to electric vehicles in the future since it can provide a huge benefits for the environment and the society.
ReplyDeleteElectric cars could be the answer to solve some issues nowadays, like the environmental issues and economical issues. We all know that conventional car uses gasoline as its fuel and the residue of gasoline combustion is very polluting and dangerous for human health. Also, in Indonesia, everytime there is a raise in fuel price which indirectly also raising the price of other goods, it is usually received negatively and causes many rallies protesting the government’s policy. So the use of electric cars in Indonesia will greatly help the government to tackle down those issues.
ReplyDeleteBut, there are also some disadvantages of using electric cars. First, it requires huge amount of investment in infrastructure like the charging station and the repairment workshop. Second, it does not solve the traffic jam issues in large cities. In my opinion, it will be better to invest in mass public transportation than in electric car infrastructure.
Cars have been used as a convenient means of transport for a very long time. Most cars need fossil fuels to run. However, since fossil fuels are not renewable, people are scared that they will run out. Moreover, the pollution they cause, the carbon monoxide they produce, and also the greenhouse effect that could occur because of the carbon dioxide they produce rise a lot of concerns to the health and wellbeing of the environment. That is why I think electric cars have lots of potential to create a revolution in the car industry. They are eco-friendly. The charging stations could be a problem right now. However, I think if we start having them everywhere, the charging stations can be another opportunity of business. We can make them as places to hangout. We only need to have a café for every station. Next, we can continue to develop the stations according to the consumers’ wants and needs in a specific area.
ReplyDeleteI’ve heard about electric cars many times before in videos or articles and I really want to experience riding one with my family or friends because it seems very futuristic, but it what this article says is very true because I’ve never seen one in real life before for two reasons: this is Indonesia so what am I even expecting and yeah in the US, the charging stations are kind of scarce there so of course there would be a small amount of people using electric cars. I think that if many charging stations were to be built, there would be a drastic increase in electric car users and that would truly be a futuristic world and I don’t think it would cause pollution like how current vehicles do. Conversely, oil-producing countries like Saudi Arabia would definitely feel the pain of losing many clients for buying their oil because electric cars would be more ecofriendly and cheaper in the long run for many people.
ReplyDeleteIn this era where technology has plays a big part of our lives, we have encountered a lot of new inventions. Electric car is one of the examples. Pollution has become a world issue, as the number of vehicles is continuously increases and it is resulting to more emissions. Electric cars may become one of the solutions to solve this problem. Electric cars are considered to be eco- friendly vehicles as it is powered by electrical engine. I agree with the statement from the article, “the electrical cation of driving could help solve the problem of our dependence on oil”. Oil and gas are scarce resources. It means that eventually the supply will be finish. The use of electricity has substitute the oil and gas fossil fuels. Although, there are several disadvantages of using electric cars such as there are longer time used to recharge the electricity as the capacity is limited to certain amount of time and miles. In general, this visionary invention is pertinent to the future condition where technology will be intensively used.
ReplyDeleteIt is really a glad that people start to aware with this kind of thing. The electric vehicle was created based on the idea of this planet which is earth is dying from mankind activities such as excessive usage of internal combustion that creates a high amount of gas pollution all over the world and leave the earth empty due to excessive oil mining. By using electric vehicle, we might reduce the pollution and oil consumption in order to save the planet. But the deal is the technology is still new and people still prefer to choose internal combustion engine due it is cheap and the fuel is available everywhere in gas station. In the other hand, electric car is fueled by electric that can be gotten from a charging station. The location of charging station itself is not many. Generally, the vehicle is charged in the private garage that has electric socket and it take times not same as filling up gasoline. It is hoped that they could improve the electric vehicle and distribute charging station to everywhere is it might overtake internal combustion engine in the future
ReplyDeleteElectric car is brilliant invention for the future. It's amazing how technology could develop this fast. I agree with the idea that we should use electric car instead of using a non electric car. Electric cars is more environment friendly since they don't use gasoline or petrol. The using of gasoline for car is really not environment friendly and give a lot of negative effects on our beloved earth. Even though electric car is more environment friendly since we charge the car with electricity, but it takes a long time to charge the electric car compare to conventional car. I hope that in the future we could develop an electric car that is more convenient to use. Despite this situation, I was thinking and consider to use public transportation more than using our personal vehicles. Using public transportation is also helping our earth. By using public transportation, we also reducing the amount of pollution that usually caused by the using of our personal vehicles. As a modern human being, we should consider a lot about our earth. I believe that with this rapid development of technology we could create changes to our environment.
ReplyDeleteIn opinion, it is undeniable that electric cars may be one of our future main transportation form. Yet I think that they are currently inefficient and too much of a fuss. Charging your car every night, watching out for your car battery so would not be stranded, and waiting for hours if your car run out of juice is not what you call convenience. Further more the price of electric car currently is relatively expensive. I would prefer hybrid car over electric car, not that I don’t care about our planet, it is just the efficiency of it, and they cost roughly similar. Another way of evolving towards our future is to develop a new main source of fuel. One of our answer might be around us the entire time, hydrogen. It is abundance, highly flammable, relatively simple to obtain, and environmentally friendly. The emission which is produce by hydrogen vehicle is zero, and its byproduct believe it or not is pure, clean water how about that?
ReplyDeleteFrom a slow, square-looking wagon that’s highly uncomfortable, into fast, curvy-looking cars that offer several commodities that bring comforts to the driver, cars have been improving toward a point of efficiency and comfort as time passed by. With the involvement of technology and unlimited ideas for innovation, car industries are free to innovate, which type of cars they’ll produce, whether it’s fossil-fueled or electric cars. However, as many problems began emerging toward the usage of fossil-fuel cars, many companies have been shifting gear toward the development of the electric car, which people think are more environmentally friendly. It’s true that electric cars provide several benefits than fossil fueled cars: reduced carbon emission, reduced maintenance cost, and reduced noise pollution. Despite the benefit, electric cars, and like many other cars, also have disadvantages. Such disadvantages are the lack of recharge spots, a huge bill on electricity, shorter mileage, and long recharging time. Though there are still concerns regarding the usage of electric cars, I believe that in the future many people will turn their interest into electric cars. With the scarcity of fossil-fuel and the advancement of technology, (that keeps on improving at a fast rate) Electric cars will replace fossil-fueled cars somewhere in the future.
ReplyDeleteAlternative energy is a very good investment in the future. We know that we can not always depend on crude oil and other energy that in non renewable. Alternative energy is not only a good investment for ourself, but also a very good investment for the earth and the world. This electric car is one of the most important investment for the future of renewable environment. In my opinion it is important for electric car to slowly replacing the usual car, since it will create a better environment and society. The problem that is still bothering the use of electric car is because electric car is expensive and limited. But, I think electric car is being developed a lot and will not be a problem in the future. People also need to have the responsibility with their earth and find the way to protect it. Because this is our earth and we are the one that lives in it, so who else will take care of it if we don’t?
ReplyDeleteI’ve heard about this futuristic electric car since ages. Unfortunately, until now, I still have not seen one. But beside from that, I am very excited about this massive innovation in the future; it’s not because I want to have an electric car, but because this massive innovation can certainly reduce our environmental issue regarding to the air pollution and the overwhelmed consumption of oil and gases. Can you even imagine what will happen if the next 50 or 100 years people are still relying on oil and gases? Our next generation will no longer have a plenty of natural resources. So by applying this futuristic electric car, we can definitely safe the number of our natural resources and also we can help the earth to have longer life in order to protect our next generations. On the other hand, it may need a long process for people to be able to adapt to this new innovation. But once again, it is purpose to save our next generations and to save the earth.
ReplyDeleteAs a petrolhead, or should I say, an automotive enthusiast, the joy and excitement that I feel every time I hear the roar of my 323i’s inline six-cylinder engine could never be replaced by the tediousness of driving a car that sounds like a sewing machine. There is just no engagement whatsoever between you and your car, because everything is being automated. To add to it, less and less people opt to drive a manual nowadays. With technological advancements such as autopilot, cars are becoming less of what they were; cars were meant to be driven. Going back to the exponential growth of electric cars, it is inevitable that fossil fuels are getting more and more depleted over time, a bad news for someone like me. On a lighter note, electric cars offer a long-term solution for the future, although it takes off the essence of driving. Personally, I would rather use public transportation rather than to purchase an electric car, since it would only add more traffic congestion, minus the pollution.
ReplyDeleteIt is no longer a secret that technology is improving rapidly from time to time. The improvement of technology affect many fields such as communication, education, transportation, and many more. Modern technology allows us to invent new, exciting idea such as the electric car, electric car is a car that uses not gasoline but electricity for their source of energy. Companies such as Tesla, Jaguar, Toyota, Audi has developed these car and had already produce them in a massive scale. The benefit of using electric cars are it is more cost-efficient, eco-friendly, and also more effective, the use of electric car is important because it makes less air pollution than the traditional cars. But it is still less popular than the traditional car so marketing has to be more opened and improved. Formula E for example is a good marketing plan because it allows racing fans to watch race but it uses fully electric cars
ReplyDeleteThere’s this one particular brand of cars that popped up in my brain when reading this article: Tesla. I’ve been a fan of Tesla Inc. for a couple of years now. Cars from tesla runs on electricity and a single charge can get you up to 600 miles (or 670 kilometers for anyone who lives anywhere else besides the USA) which is pretty impressive for me. The designs of these cars is not bad as well, all of Tesla’s cars boast an aerodynamic and futuristic look to it, the interior also sports a touch device as it’s console that just boost the futuristic feel of it all. Even the SUV model, the type X, has a wing door that makes it just a stunner to look at. I think Tesla is still currently a semi-premium brand that’s unaffordable for most people. But I also think, it lays the necessary ground work for future and more affordable electric cars.
ReplyDeleteFuture car, there are already some highly intellegence car in this world today. For example, a car that can start itself only by pushing a button in the remote, or maybe elctric car. But, what is the definition of future car? I think, future car is a car that has even higher intellegence than today's car. I'm always wondering the shape, or maybe the new technology that is offered by the future car. Auto drive system is already under development by skme company in this world. Auto drive is very helpful, bevause people don't have to feel tired when they have to drive for a long distances trip. Just push the autodrive button and everything done. That's one of example about future car. Second, i've already seen many film that showed futuristic environment. What i saw there was magnetic car. So, all of the cars there didn't use wheel, but it used magnet. The magnetic field was created on the road in exchange of asphalt. So the car was just like floating above the street. It is so cool of we have cars like that in this world. Of course we can reduce polution that is created by the production of asphalt. Maybe, there will be many modification in the futire car besides auto drive and magnetic car.
ReplyDeleteThe car is an invention that changed the world, through vehicles we can shorten our travel time. In this modern era, a car is just transportation to travel to a far place, car nowadays is more to speed, lifestyle, and eco-friendliness. In the future, the automotive industry will compete to make a vehicle that suits consumer demand. For me, future cars able to drive without their drivers, its called autonomous vehicle, engineers are working to replace human eyes with a multitude of cameras, sensors and lasers that will reproduce the environment in 3D and allow the car to make navigation decisions alone. Popularized by Google and its famous Google car, most manufacturers have begun looking at autonomy and are currently in the phase of conducting significant tests on the roads. In the next ten years, we can sleep or doing something useful in the car while A.I (Artificial Intelligence) drive your car and you don’t need to worry about the risk on the road.
ReplyDeleteAs you all may know, we are now living in an era dominated by technology. From years to years, this world insist us to make new innovation, be more creative and use any possible resources to fulfill our unlimited needs and wants. Gasoline isn't a reusable resources that we can produce in one night, it is a scarce resource that right now is one of our most demanded item. By having a new innovation such as an electric car will be beneficial for everyone, I mean by using electric car we can get the resources for it from solar panel utilizing the sun and such else. Compared to the gasoline, electricity is more reusable and you can produce it more using many methods that offered these days. For example, the most famous electric car is Tesla, they started producing electric cars since 2008 and it got popular around 2 or 3 years ago. There are various advantages that come along if you're using an electric car such as environmental friendly, save more money because you don't have to buy gasoline, and others. Even though electric car is expensive, I think it may become a long-term investment considering all the aspects.

ReplyDeleteWhen we look at our history as humans, we have relied so much on our means of transportation. It has been one of the most important factor to help us evolve in so many ways. From horses which have accompanied Alexander The Great on his conquest to conquer to Henry Ford who made automobiles available to the masses. Ford once said “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” This can be said is one of the greatest call for us to innovate and think outside the box. In the 21st century it can be said that the trend to change from petrol powered engines to electric is increasing. In my opinion the move is a smart one, because we are now becoming much more concerned about the environment and amount of resource left. With the addition of that the idea to have self-driving or even flying cars are becoming real. And that is good because with the innovations we have it leads us to uncover more possiblities.
Electric car is indeed going to be one of the most influential invention in the history of transportation industry. It’s eco friendly, more practical to use, less noisy, and its cheaper to use in term of its daily usage because there will be no regular gas expenditure. Despite all the greatness and potential provided by electric car, i still think that this invention will not easily took over the usage of fueled-based transportation, especially in countries like Indonesia which have a total of 124.348.224 unit of fueled-based transportation in 2017. In my estimation, it will took for more than 30 years of time before we are able to popularize the implementation of electric car. I said so because as we can see from our current condition, how are we able to accelerate the growth of electric car we are still troubled by problem like traffic jam, damage roads, unemployment, unmaintained public transportation, etc.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has improved from time to time and I believe it will keep going forward no matter what, the idea of electric car is a good thing for nature, because as we know it will not require gas and you just need to charge it to refill its ‘power’. It will be also interesting on how the big automotive company will compete to produce the best electric car if the idea of electric car for daily usage got fully realized. This will be a big stem forward for technology because we can stop using gasoline and we just need electricity to power the car, imagine hos simple it will be, just charge and use your car again. Other ideas also include an auto drive car that did not require a driver to operate, im curious could the idea be realized or not. I believe that technology can help people to have a simpler life and easier one.
ReplyDeleteTechnological advancement has been growing rapidly, especially transportation technology. The fear of running out of gas encourage people to make car that uses other substance for its fuel. Nowadays, electricity is being developed to be used on cars replacing gas as a fuel. In my opinion this kind of technology can help the environment by decreasing the use of gasoline. It also would decreases the amount of pollution cause by gasoline fueled cars. I once read an article about electric cars and it is written that electric cars are fuel cost less that gasoline cars. The development of electric cars needs to be broaden by making electrical charging stations. People need to realize that we are slowly running out of gas. The government should also pay more attention to this kind of technology and contribute to the development rather than just ignoring it, especially in Indonesia. I believe it could help the environment to be healthy and comfortable for people.
ReplyDeleteIt’s no doubt that electric cars are the future of automotive transport. Electric cars have simple designs, easy maintenance, and economical running costs. But electric cars are still considered rare these days, because of the scarcity of charging stations. There is also the conventional automobile, which relies on ordinary gasoline. Many car enthusiasts prefer conventional automobiles because of the speed and power of them; something that most electric cars don’t have, as they focus on efficiency and millage rather than the capabilities of racing. But there are innovations for the electric automotive industry, like hybrid cars; or cars that can run on both electricity and gasoline. These cars have the capabilities of a racing car, combined with the environmental friendliness of electric cars. Though these cares are still relatively rare, it realizes the potential of an environmentally friendly future where our demand for natural resources doesn’t exceed the planets capacity to sustain. The main issue facing the widespread availability of electric cars is the petroleum industry; for oil companies will do anything in their power to make sure they don’t lose their source of profit.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read the title, I was thinking about flying car or something, but indeed a lot of company trying to developed electric cars. Electric cars it's not a common thing in Indonesia, we rarely see electric cars on the street. Maybe because it is hard to find charging station in Indonesia, so you have to charge your car at home and make sure not driving too far from your house. People still think it is not convenient to have an electric car because they just can use it for short distance and electric cars have higher price than cars powered by gasoline. In Singapore and on other countries, there is a company offer an electric car sharing, named blue SG. Basically we can book the car on the app and pay based on how long we used the cars. They even have a charging station around Singapore. Electric cars are better for the environment, because it’s not producing any harmful gas to the environment that means less pollution.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I can’t wait to drive on an electric car for miles and don’t have to think about the price of the fuel. But, why do I talk about the fuel that will not be used? This is the smart part of the cutting-edge transportation. Economically, petroleum that we use daily is a limited resource which means the price of petroleum might be very expensive at some point. Transportation is very important for us. We need it to go to our school, university, office, mall, and many more. Imagine if we depend on petroleum which price is getting more expensive. Our burden for the cost of the fuel will be heavier. Gratefully, an electric car technology has come up. It matters of time before we can hop on to it. And the most important thing is the energy. Electricity is an unlimited resource. The price will not be as dangerous as petroleum. With the save cost of transportation, mobility for our society will be much easier.
ReplyDeleteIn this millennial era that we live in, technology is the most important thing in our life. Through technology everything seems possible. Technology is the future for our life. I believe in the future, technology will definitely be more developed than it is now. I think that when our technology is being developed, our natural environment will decrease in its function and value; which I believe is a problem. I think that it would be best if both the technology and environment are developing together and with harmony. After reading this article, I am able to see that this is one of the way for the technology and environment to develop together and with harmony. I think that this technology is groundbreaking. A car with the use of electricity that is eco-friendly to the natural environment? No one thought it before! This is the kind of technology that is so advanced yet a great investment for our world in the future. I hope that this development in the transportation sector will bring more people to create and develop advanced technology that is eco-friendly to our natural environment.
