Four Songs No.9

Twenty One Pilots
"Heathens"

All my friends are heathens. Take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

All my friends are heathens. Take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

Welcome to the room of people
Who have rooms of people that they loved one day
Docked away
Just because we check the guns at the door
Doesn't mean our brains will change from hand grenades

You'll never know the psychopath sitting next to you
You'll never know the murderer sitting next to you
You'll think, "How'd I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said
Please don't forget

All my friends are heathens. Take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

We don't deal with outsiders very well
They say newcomers have a certain smell
You have trust issues, not to mention
They say they can smell your intentions

You'll never know the freakshow sitting next to you
You'll have some weird people sitting next to you
You'll think, "How'd I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said
Please don't forget
(Watch it, watch it)

All my friends are heathens. Take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

All my friends are heathens. Take it slow
(Watch it)
Wait for them to ask you who you know
(Watch it)
Please, all my friends are heathens. Take it slow
(Watch it)
Wait for them to ask you who you know

Why'd you come? You knew you should have stayed
(It's blasphemy)
I tried to warn you just to stay away
(Away)
And now they're outside ready to bust
(To bust)
It looks like you might be one of us

Kiiara
"Gold"

Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know [3x]
Roof is falling let me love me

Gold up in my, gold up in my teeth (gold up, gold up in my teeth)
Don't care what you say to me, I'mma bite your feelings out (gold up in my teeth)
I missed you in the basement (gold up in my teeth)
But your brother was a good substitute for you

And if you love me, love me but you never let me go
When the roof was on fire, you never let me know
Say you're sorry honey, but you never really show
And I could leave the party without ever letting you know
Without ever letting you know

[3x:]
Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know
Roof is falling let me love me without ever letting you know

Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know
Without ever letting you know

Gold up in my, gold up in my teeth (gold up, gold up in my teeth)
Taste like money when I speak (gold up, gold up in my teeth)
And I missed you in the basement (yeah, gold up in my teeth)
Bodies on the pavement (oh, gold up in my teeth)

And if you love me, love me but you never let me go
When the roof was on fire, you never let me know
Say you're sorry honey, but you never really show
And I could leave the party without ever letting you know
Without ever letting you know

[3x:]
Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know
Roof is falling let me love me without ever letting you know

Roof is falling let me love me falling I just know
Without ever letting you know

Maroon 5
"Don't Wanna Know"

Oh hey
Oh, oh hey
Oh, oh, oh hey
Uh oh, uh oh

I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, no
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know

Wasted (wasted)
And the more I drink the more I think about you
Oh no, no, I can't take it
Baby every place I go reminds me of you

Do you think of me? Of what we used to be?
Is it better now that I'm not around?
My friends are actin' strange, they don't bring up your name
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?

I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, no
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know

And every time I go out, yeah
I hear it from this one, I hear it from that one
That you got someone new
Yeah, I see but don't believe it
Even in my head you're still in my bed
Maybe I'm just a fool

Do you think of me? Of what we used to be?
Is it better now that I'm not around?
My friends are actin' strange, they don't bring up your name
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?

I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, no
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know

[Kendrick Lamar:]
(Oh hey)
No more “please stop”
No more hashtag boo'd up screenshots
No more tryin' make me jealous on your birthday
You know just how I made you better on your birthday, oh
Do he do you like this, do he woo you like this?
Do he lay it down for you, touch your poona like this?
Matter fact, never mind, we'll let the past be
Maybe his right now, but your body's still me, woah

I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, no
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know, know, know, know
Who's taking you home, home, home, home
And loving you so, so, so, so
The way I used to love you, oh
I don't wanna know

Oh hey
Oh, oh hey
Oh, oh, oh hey
Uh oh, uh oh

Daya

"Sit Still, Look Pretty"

Could dress up
To get love
But guess what?
I'm never gonna be that girl
Who's living in a Barbie world

Could wake up
In make up,
And play dumb
Pretending that I need a boy
Who's gonna treat me like a toy

I know the other girlies wanna wear expensive things
Like diamond rings
But I don't wanna be the puppet that you're playing on a string
This queen don't need a king

Oh, I don't know what you've been told
But this gal right here's gonna rule the world
Yeah, that is where I'm gonna be because I wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty
You get off on your 9 to 5
Dream of picket fences and trophy wives
But no, I'm never gonna be 'cause I don't wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still look pretty

Mr. Right could be nice for one night
But then he wanna take control
And I would rather fly solo

That Snow White
She did right
In her life
Had 7 men to do the chores
'Cause that's not what a lady's for

The only thing a boy's gonna give a girl for free's captivity
And I might love me some vanilla but I'm not that sugar sweet
Call me HBIC

Oh, I don't know what you've been told
But this gal right here's gonna rule the world
Yeah, that is where I'm gonna be, because I wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty
You get off on your 9 to 5
Dream of picket fences and trophy wives
But no, I'm never gonna be, 'cause I don't wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still look pretty

[2x]
Sure, I'm a pretty girl
Up in a pretty world
But they say pretty hurts
And I don't wanna sit still
I'm a pretty girl
Up in a pretty world
But no, I won't sit still, look pretty

Oh, I don't know what you've been told
But this gal right here's gonna rule the world
Yeah, that is where I'm gonna be because I wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty
You get off on your 9 to 5
Dream of picket fences and trophy wives
But no, I'm never gonna be 'cause I don't wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still look pretty

Oh, I don't know what you've been told
But this gal right here's gonna rule the world
Yeah, that is where I'm gonna be because I wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty
You get off on your 9 to 5
Dream of picket fences and trophy wives
But no, I'm never gonna be 'cause I don't wanna be
No, I don't wanna sit still, look pretty

Sit still, look pretty [4x]

  1. When I quick viewed the list of the songs, I choked myself with a lot of OMGs. I know all of these songs, and I listen to them regularly. In this very exciting opportunity, I'd like to talk about Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. First of all, Twenty One Pilots is one of my favorite band, and I'll be thrilled if I get a chance to meet them someday. From my point of view, most of Twenty One Pilot's songs are created with the same vibrancy and feels, and Heathens here tells the story of a person trapped in his own mind with many other personalities. When Tyler Joseph (the vocalist) created this song, he wanted the song to be the first song that resemble Twenty One Pilots and their fans, Clique even though it was featured to be one of the soundtracks of Suicide Squad, a western super hero movies that produced in 2016 which tells a story of a group consisted of anti-heroes saving the world.

  2. From the three songs above, mine favorite is Daya – Sit Still Looks Pretty, I love this song because of some parts of the song, take a look at;
    “ Oh, I don’t know what you’ve been told
But this gal right here’s gonna rule the world
Yeah, that is where I’m gonna be
    Because I wanna be
No, I don’t wanna sit still, look pretty. “
and that is a message that real people can relate to. It’s inspiring. It’s “I’m Awesome,” not “You’re awesome” (which is always going to be insincere coming from a celebrity). Daya stated "It's about being a girl that goes after her own dreams and really fights for what she wants, and not letting anyone get in the way of that. It's important for young girls to know that they don't have to act a certain way or depend on someone for happiness. They can find all of that within themselves." And I think that’s an important distinction that bridges the gap from commercial shlock to empowerment. Compositionally, this song does one specific thing very well: it varies sentence/line length.

  3. Oh wow, It’s such an uncommon phenomenon that Mr Adrian listed some popular and frequently-played songs in radios, since usually you listed some uncommon songs in my opinion. And in my opinion, the best song from the list is Gold by Kiiara, since when I listened to it for the first time the beats’s good and the lyrics are catchy to be honest. I would like to suggest that you should put rap songs sometimes, if you don’t like the auto tuned rappers which’s common nowadays which’re the likes of Lil Pump, Travis Scott etc. you can listen to the old rap era when the conflict between the west side and the east side was in conflict. I would suggest to listen to Ice Cube with the NWA which’s considered as one of the best rappers in group of all time. You should listen to it sometimes, or for Ice Cube, I would suggest to listen to this song called “You Know How we Do It” in my opinion, that track that he dropped back then’s the best from Ice Cube throughout his rap career.

  4. From the four songs above, three of them are in my playlist. The three songs are: “Don’t Wanna Know” by Maroon 5, “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya, and “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots. I have known Maroon 5 and Twenty One Pilots’ songs for a long time, and I love a lot of their songs. I think they are incredibly talented. My favorite Maroon 5 album is “Overexposed” and my favorite song in that album is “Daylight”, even though the most popular song from that album is “Payphone” which featured Wiz Khalifa. My favorite Twenty One Pilots album is “Blurryface”, and my favorite song from that album is “Tear in My Heart”. I don’t particularly know a lot about Daya, but I really like her song “Sit Still, Look Pretty”. I think her song supports feminism, and I really like how she brings up the thought that women do not need men to function or do things in life.

  5. “Girls Like You” is probabably my favorite songs out of the four. I’ve always been a fan of Maroon 5. I rarely miss a song that they make. It’s hard, because all of their songs literally being played on every radio channel. Although I’m kind of sad that they are moving into ‘EDM’ music territory to follow today’s trends. Don’t get me wrong, the song is quite catchy. But usually their song’s aren’t EDM-themed. That’s what makes them unique, being able to keep their popularity while going against the trend. Maroon 5 being one of the bands able to produce songs that are not EDM but still make it to the Billboard Chart 100. And it’s usually a more catchier song than those EDM ones. Their newest album, “Red Pill Blues”, sadly consisted of EDM-themed songs. It will take some time to get used to, especially if you’re a long time fans of theirs. Some of their notable songs from “Red Pill Blues” are “Bet my Heart” and “Help Me Out”.

  6. I’ve rarely been interested in mainstream songs as it doesn’t attract me. Sorry to say, by all means, I did not like any of those songs at all. I even distance myself from listening to mainstream radios while driving; I would instead bring a CD to hear on a car or connect my phone with an AUX cable, or I did not listen to a radio at all and smoke all the way to the destination.
Speaking of mainstream songs, I do still hear a little. Lorde for example, she is terrific. I have a delightful time listening to her universally acclaimed album; Melodrama. It is a pop and electropop album, exploring the theme of solitude within a loose concept album. The record was commended to its songwriting, production and Lorde's vocal delivery. My favourite songs are “Hard Feelings/Loveless”, “Green Light”, and “The Louvre”. I also agree with Nolan Feeney’s statement of Entertainment Weekly; “the shape-shifting compositions give Melodrama a richer, more dynamic palette than the muted, minimalist beats of Pure Heroine".

  7. Heathens is a song by Twenty One Pilots. The song is a part of Suicide Squad soundtrack. From the moment I heard this song, I fell in love with it. Because the tone is very ear catching, unique, and not so mainstream. I like this song more because it is the soundtrack of a very good film, Suicide Squad. This song complete this film very much and giving this film more dramatic effects and suits this film so much. The title, Heathens means “orang kafir” in Indonesians. In my opinion, this title reflect the suicide squad members. The lyrics are also good and unique. The lyrics tell about heathen people that do bad things all the time or we can say suicide squad’s members. They also say that they have trus issues towards people. Basically the song writer say that he has a lot of heathens friends and want to freed from them.

  8. I'm not really the type of person to look for music to listen to, mostly I just listen to music that a friend suggests or songs that I heard in cafes or restaurants or sometimes on the radio, I almost never purposefully look for songs to listen. I only know two of the songs in the article whish are 'Don't Wanna Know' by Maroon 5 and 'Heathens' by Twenty One Pilots, I knew these songs from listening it on a friends playlist and decided to listen to them myself. The song by Twenty One Pilots is actually part of a soundtrack for the movie 'Suicide Squad'. After listening to this one track I decided to listen more to Twenty One Pilots' songs, I really liked their song 'Ride' and 'Car Radio' among other things. That's not to say Maroon 5 doesn't have any good songs, my favorite song of all time is 'Sunday Morning' by Maroon 5, it is one of the most relaxing song I've ever heard.

  9. It’s fascinating to see Kiiara’s Gold on the list. I assumed that not a lot of people know this song. The first time I found out about this song was from Ben Brown’s Spotify playlist. If you don't know who Ben Brown is, he is a British photographer and filmmaker. He makes breathtaking videos and took stunning pictures. He made a playlist called Visual Vibes in his YouTube channel, where he would upload videos of the places he visited. The videos are pleasing to the eyes, and would wake your sense up. You should check out his YouTube channel and Instagram account if you are curious.

Aside from all of this, I think Kiiara’s Gold has a really catchy beat. The way Kiiara sing the song catches my attention, especially the glitches effect all over the song. The first time I hear this song, I have a hard time understanding the lyrics of the song and I had to look at the lyrics to actually understand it. But overall, Gold is a nice song to listen to.

  10. I want to give my thoughts on the second song which titled “Gold” by Kiiara. The first time I heard the song I instantly caught the easy rhythm and the intro of the song is very interesting and easy to listening. This song is one of my high-school playlist. I personally like Kiiara’s voice, she has an unique vocal character. Since she already sang this song well, I do not think this song would be easily sang by other person with the same beat and minus one. The music video is simple and Kiiara did try to show the emotions within this song to the music video. Although, I could not really understand the meaning of this song, I only can see the meaning from the expression of the faces in the music video. So, indeed, music video sometimes does help the audience to know what a song means.

    1. I also want to give my thoughts on the last song which titled “Sit Still Look Pretty” by Daya. This was my high-school friends’ playlist. I can say that this song is one of the woman-empowerment kind of songs. It tells about how strong woman wants to be as we can tell by the lyrics. The lyrics really show how an independent woman live their life, even though, I should probably mention that women still play with their instinct. But, this song is really good for self-motivation, to do more-better-bigger work. Sometimes, we need an external factor to enhance our effort to do better to achieve something bigger. So, I honestly recommend this song for the girls out there who are still struggling to find theirselves. A bonus point is sometimes teenagers sometimes feel insecure or anxiety, and I think this song is perfect to enhance our self-love and self-confidence.

  11. After seeing those four songs what caught my attention the most is of course the song Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. This song is one of the soundtracks from a movie called Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad itself is a movie based on a comic made by DC comics with the same name. The song Heathens in my opinion really did a good job portraying the nuances of the film. By just hearing the song I could easily feel the claustrophobic and full of restrictions the prison (that is shown in the film) is. Aside from that I also wanted to talk about the film. It really is a mediocre film despite it having lots of good soundtracks. The story is a bit rushed and also the relationship between characters in the movie feels forced. Don’t get me wrong, I think David Ayer (the director) is a good director but I think directing a comic book movie is just not his thing.

  12. This is actually my first time commenting on your article about songs. The reason why this is my first is because I didn't really know about the songs you posted before this. And now that you're posting a popular (mostly pop) songs, I am interested. I am writing this right now while I listen to your songs recommendation (I already knew almost all of them). Am I the only one who felt some kind of weird feeling when listening to Heathens? I can't explain what kind of feeling, but I felt weird. I heard "Kiiara - Gold" when I was watching Riverdale months ago. I downloaded the song right away because I thought it was good. (I don't really listen to the song anymore now.) Maroon 5. Who didn't listen to Maroon 5? Everyone listen Maroon 5's songs! Their song is always on the top charts. Anyway, all the songs above is basically a big hits.

  13. In all of the songs, I like “Heathens” by Twenty-One Pilots the most. I rarely listen to it because I already have my own lists of songs that I loved, but when I saw this song in YouTube, I won’t hesitate to put it into the list of my western songs. This song was one of the songs that are created for the movie called “Suicide Squad”, it tells the people of how they will be treated if they have a personal or mental illness and have the burden of hard-violent crime against a nation. The lyrics was awesome according to me and most of the people that heard it, although for me, the one that mostly stood out is the video. It’s not just an ordinary music clips that most are used, but it gives an image of people being in prison with harsh punishment without any appropriate handles. Which made it an inappropriate video for children below a certain age.

  14. Maybe from the rest of the students in your class, I am the one who doesn’t really interested in music. But, I am so happy to finally see a post with almost all the songs listed there are the one that I am familiar with. Maroon 5 is one of my favourite music group. I listen to many of their songs: One More Night, Payphone, Animals, Wait, Makes me Wonder, Three Little Birds, It Was Always You, and many more. I am amazed on the consistency of the band members to create music and to entertain their fans. I am also amazed on how Adam Levine could reach the high notes. But what makes me even more and more amazed is that Maroon 5, as a group, has shown their concern in social and environmental issues. For example, on 2004, they contributed in the recovery of the 2004 southeast Asian tsunamis by giving financial and moral support to those who got impacted by the natural disaster. I think there should be more artists like them.

  15. Out of the four songs above, my most listened one is Heathens from Twenty One Pilots. There were times where I really liked the band so much, I listened all of their songs from their albums. Until the Heathens came out to be an Original Sound Track of the movie Suicide Squad, at the first time I heard the song I didn’t know that it was Twenty One Pilot’s song yet. I was a little surprised when I knew that it is their song, because I didn’t expect that it is theirs. I just love their music, Twenty One Pilots is one of the bands that gives me some energy. For that, I usually listened to them in the middle of the night when I’m doing my homework, so that I don’t fall asleep easily. I think Twenty One Pilots is one of the youth’s most awaited bands to come to Indonesia lately. I would be thrilled if they would actually come to Indonesia.

  16. Firstly, when I opened this article, one song that I have known before is Don’t wanna know by Maroon 5. Maroon 5 consist of 5 members which is Adam Levine as the lead vocal in this group. He has a unique voice and I think his voice has been the characteristic of maroon 5 songs. Despite his unique voice, he also has a quite high vocal range, from E3 until Bb5 which adrift 1 note lower than Bruno Mars voice. Talk about genres, I think, this pop song using some EDM instruments inside the music. Thus, I could conclude that, they combine between pop genre and EDM genre, follow the growth of music nowadays. The progression chord is quite easy to find, It is 4-5-3-6-5 in overall parts. On the average, EDM music has a simple chord because they use the variation on the instruments, so there will be a lot of unique voices in one music.

  17. A phenomenon that is happening in our society now is the realization of truth and how we should not rely our identity on the realization of others towards us. The musical industry have pushed a lot of songs that promote self confidence such as the song by Daya which is called “ Sit still and look pretty”. What we can conclude from this song is that we don’t need people to say we are beautiful or if we are ugly anyway because if we are ugly but we feel beautiful, it just proves that a certain perspective can view us as beautiful even though it is ourselves. But this just proves that we are beautiful in our own certain way that there are always people that see us as not as pleasing but there are people that can be crazy for us from their point of view. And this has been such a big topic because it can lead people to depression and anxiety.

  18. My first thoughts when I saw this playlist of songs last week was,” There is now way Mr. Adrian would have uploaded these if he wasn’t somehow influenced to do so”. As a millennial, I am glad that there is something different in the songs of the blog. Songs that have been uploaded tend to be old songs that wouldn’t normally be worth commenting. I don’t have anything against old songs, I actually enjoy a lot of old music; but these four songs have truly been a fresh addition to the blog. Maroon 5 was always notable for their music, which frequently involves the relationship trope. The catchy beat of Don’t Wanna Know remind me of my high school days, back when this song came out. Heathens by Twenty One Pilots caught my attention as it is the iconic soundtrack to the 2016 film Suicide Squad. This movie, though arguable in terms of success, has been the first to feature a team of villains turned anti-heroes. The other two songs, Sit Still, Look Pretty by Daya and Gold by Kiiara, I find very catchy and enjoyable; despite the fact that they’re not in my Favorites playlist.

  19. Finally a “Four Songs” article that has songs that I actually know or listen to. I know four of those songs because I used to listen to them back when they were very popular. Kiiara was once a favourite artist of mine during Middle School. I still listen to her songs but not as much as I did back then. Her song “Gold” is very popular but in my opinion her song “Feels” deserves the same amount of recognition as her song “Gold”. Daya’s song “Sit Still Look Pretty” is actually one of my favourite songs too. It is a song that always empowers and motivates me. It always makes me feel some type of way. It helps me build confidence. The song “Sit Still Look Pretty” has always been a song that I listen to when I need some sort of motivation or a push for confidence. It is a song that always makes me want to dance and sing whenever I am listening to it.

  20. These are actually the first song article where i actually know the songs and sometimes listen to the song. Out of the four songs that were given above Heathens by Twenty One Pilots is so far my favorite song. Heathens The song is good but it is actually not one of the best songs i've heard. At first, i didn't know about the song even when I've already watch the movie. The song was played in the local radio for over and over until i was curious about who is the artist of the song. It was then i knew that it was sang by the Twenty One Pilots and was starred as the song in the movie Suicide Squad. This happens to me a lot where I memorize the lyrics of the song but have no clue who is the artist who made it. This condition happen because when i was at a young age i used to hear the morning radio every time i was going to school.

  21. I have listened to all four songs mentioned above and my favourite one has to be “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya. Not only that the beat is catchy but the meaning behind the lyrics is also very powerful as it promotes girl empowerment. From the Wikipedia, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Daya stated "It's about being a girl that goes after her own dreams and really fights for what she wants, and not letting anyone get in the way of that. It's important for young girls to know that they don't have to act a certain way or depend on someone for happiness. They can find all of that within themselves." Daya also said in an interview with Idolator "I think it's just about not being an accessory for someone else. Just having your own dreams and goals. Going after them and not having to always try to please someone."

  22. This is the first time I've seen some modern songs in the four songs list. I'd like to point out that the difference between the modern and classics is that the modern songs tend to just be about a fun rythm with lyrics being repeated over and over. I'm not saying older songs don't do this also, it's just that there is hardly any modern songs that are not just the same lyrics over and over. Of course it is understandable because we tend to like music that just sounds good to our ears. But what about the classics, the songs that tell stories and have meaning in them. Like Hotel California by The Eagles, or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Those songs told stories and takes us through that story. In the end everybody has the right to listen to whatever music they want. Honestly I think these four songs are really good, some of them even take me back to the memories where I first heard these songs.

  23. It is very interesting that I finally see a list of songs that I know and listen almost every day. I have heard all these songs and none of the songs are bad. In fact, I am listening to the song while writing the comment which can entertain me. My favorite song based on the list is the one called “Don’t Wanna Know” by maroon 5. The song is very easy to remember as it has a catchy beat and thee video is quite funny. I used to listen to this song whenever I got bored or feel sleepy. I am also the type of guy to listen to a song repeatedly if I like the song. Since “Don’t Wanna Know” is one of them, I got bored after playing the song many times. Because there are many new songs, I have forgotten about this song by Maroon and is very fortunate that this article reminded me of this song

  24. Among the three songs above, my favorite is Don’t Wanna Know by Maroon 5. The song is about not caring anymore about your ex and the feeling of betrayal. It’s stated in many of the lyrics like “Do you think of me? Of what we used to be?” and “No more tryin' make me jealous on your birthday”. The lyric it self is not that interesting to be honest but the more i listen to it the more it’s catchy. What is exciting about this song is the music video. I found it to be amusing because it has a unique concept of Pokemon Go that was trending at that moment. To see grown men wearing big cartoon costumes running around the streets of LA is funny. I really like the one with the jellyfish-like looking costume. Not to mention, Adam Lavine is not bad to look at for more than 3 minutes.

  25. To be honest, I like all of the songs from the article above. All of the songs are very easy to listen and ear-catching. Every each of them is unique and having their own characteristics. From "Heathens" by Twenty One Pilots that having a rock genre but sad meaning, "Gold" by Kiiara that having a unique beat, "Don't Wanna Know" by Maroon 5 that is very ear-catching and easy to sing, and "Sit Still, Look Pretty" by Daya that having a strong meaning about self empowerment. If I have to pick one, my favorite song is "Sit Still, Look Pretty" by Daya because it tell us especially woman to stand by their own self and do what they want to do. This song is very good to empower someone to be a strong woman. Since music is a universal language, I believe that this songs could be a motivation for some woman out there that having a low self-esteem or problems to be more stronger and boost their confident to believe in their self.

  26. I have heard and really enjoy listening to all of the songs that were post above. They are all very good songs and very popular among kids and teenagers today. Each song was created in it’s own way by different artist, so then it would be difficult to compare between one another. But if I were to choose one out of all four songs, I would say that my favorite song is “Heathens” by twenty one pilots.

I remember the first time I heard this song, it was in 2016 when the movie “suicide squad” just came out. Suicide squad is a movie by dc about fictional villains being sent by the government to do a suicidal mission to save the world. I was so excited to watch this movie, I followed every update they had regarding this movie, including it’s soundtracks. One of their soundtracks is heathens by twenty one pilots.

  27. Finally, a four songs article that I can make comment on. Out of four of them, three were on my playlist. They were “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots, “Don’t Wanna Know” by Maroon 5, and “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya. But if I’ve got to make comment on just one of them, I would make comment on Maroon 5’s “Don’t Wanna Know”. I’ve always been a huge fan of Maroon 5 and also the vocalist Adam Levine; I listened to almost all of their songs; from the song “She Will Be Loved” released in 2002 when the music group first entered the music industry to this new released hit. “Don’t Wanna Know” is part of Maroon 5’s newest released album, “Red Pill Blues”. What I could say about this song is that it is quite easy to be sang during karaoke with its repetitive and easy-to-remember lyrics. Other than that, the music video is also one thing that should catch everyone’s attention.

  28. I have heard all four songs that are mentioned above. If I were told to choose one, I would probably choose Don't Wanna Know by Maroon 5. Adam Levine is one of my favorite singer. His unique voice and physical appearance is what attracts me the most. One of my favorite song is called Daylight. The song is about a couple experiencing long distance relationship and this song tells the very last night before they have to go their own separate ways. Because it is the last night they'll be together, none of them wanted to go to sleep making every minute out of it hoping the daylight wouldn't come so that they can stay like this forever. I just think it's a beautiful song even though I have never been in a long distance realtionship before and I'm sure it touched many people's heart including mine with the words in it.

  29. When I scrolled down the list, I was surprised that I know every song well not like usually. So, I want to comment on the second song that is “Don’t Wanna Know” by Maroon 5. I had heard this song a long time ago and I love it. I love how catchy it is and how the tune brings sense of joy to the listeners. But, I have not been fully mindful of what the song is about. After paying attention to the lyrics of the song, I realized that this is a song about moving on. The song tells about someone who loved the other one so much when they were together. The song implies that the singer is trying to move on from the other one although still thinking about the other one deeply. The song is really suitable for anyone who is trying to move on but still having hard times forgetting the other one. Moving on could be very hard and I think this song brings ease to it a little bit.

  30. Sit still look pretty by Daya is the kind of song that i would to listen on repeat. I have this song on my spotify playlist. This song was released on 7th of October 2016, the genre is Electro pop, dance pop, teen pop kind of thing. I’m very interested with the whole album as well especially the artist herself, Grace Martine Tandon or known as Daya. Listening to her leaves me with a happy feeling. ‘Could dress up To get love But guess what? I'm never gonna be that girl Who's living in a Barbie world’ the first line gives a lot of people attention especially teenagers. Sit Still, Look Pretty focuses on the concepts of Daya’s life living as a regular teenager, which a lot of us can relate too. I love how she’s embracing the message in society in a fun catchy way. The song’s title makes it so much more because of how accurate it is.

  31. The song ‘Gold’ is written and produced by the one and only Kiata saulster, or known as Kiiara. Sheis an American singer and songwriter from Wilmington, Illinois. She is currently signed to Atlantic Records. The song Gold by Kiiara has been listened to by everyone tuning into their radio for the last few months, this song is a hit in almost everywhere. I think the reason she wrote this song is hecause she has an interesting story behind it. She seems to be talking about a controlling boyfriend and how their relationship is about to fail. “And if you love me, love me but you never let me go,” describes that he did love her, but his love was controlling and he, “never let her go,” to be her own person. Listen to it and remember Kiiara’s message. You are strong on your own. You don’t need to deal with guys who treat you wrong, because there are plenty of others who will treat you right.

  32. Maroon 5 is one of my favorite American band since i was in middle school. The lead singer, Adam Levine has a unique voice that we all agree to enjoy. The song Dont Wanna Know was released two years ago on october 11. This song marks the first collaboration between Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar. According to guitarist James Valentine, this is a typical Maroon 5 song."'Don't Wanna Know' is such like a sorta summer, feel good, happy-sounding song," he told ABC Radio. "That's always kinda been our formula; happy music, sad lyrics or sad music, happy lyrics.” The music video for "Don't Wanna Know" parodies the game "Pokémon Go" with Adam Levine, Sarah Silverman, Ed Helms and Vince Vaughn being dressed as monsters. It has over 414 million views as of September 2018 which i think its a success. I dont really know the meaning to this song but the lyrics are innocent fun.

  33. I am going two talk about two songs on that list, "What Lovers Do" and "Heathens". Adam Levine (The frontman of Maroon 5) has a signature high-pitched voice that is unusual for male vocalists. I've been listening to Maroon 5 since I was a kid and watched The Voice USA (where he is a coach) since Season 1, so that summarize how I am quite entertained by his artistry. "What Lovers Do" may not be my favorite Maroon 5 songs of all time, not even on my top 3, but it is still quite good to be heard. Regarding "Heathens", I heard the song for the first time when the song was released simultaneously as other songs on the feature of the "Suicide Squad" movie album. The movie was quite a guilty pleasure for geeks and avid fanboys like myself, and the song was quite a catch in the ear, even though most listeners doesn't try to relate or comprehend the meaning of the lyrics, due to the song just served as a descriptive media of the movies' main characters.

  34. An article about songs would be an interesting one. I do like listen to music but apparently I don’t really get into know about it since I don’t play any music instruments. But one thing I know that every song should always has a story or meaning behind it, that’s the thing why I like about music. Sometimes, those story behind it can be happened directly to the singer or even to their close people. Though music, all the listeners can be truly inspired and get into the feel of the meaning or purpose of the song itself. Even some music able to touch someone’s feeling and lead them to an emotional reaction.

In my opinion, world would be nothing without music. Aside from an inspiration, sometimes music can also be use as a medicine. But how? Well, I have read an article about that and it says that by hearing music, our body seems to be able to absorb it and then relaxing our nerves. From there, it will then affect our inner body-system; or in other words music were able to improve our sickness through mental improvement.

  35. I would review the first song of this article. It is “Heathens” by twenty-one pilots. I would interpret this song by the rhythm and also the message that the writer wants to deliver to us. Firstly, I could say that this song is grouped on an indie song but some EDM instruments and rap are included in this song. Actually, in my opinion, this song is approaching into funk genre. I see it from the beats and the style that the singer brings it up. Talking about the chord progression, it is 6m-3-6m and 4-5-6m. the whole song just uses that chord. Basically, the minor chords are dominant in this song. However, “heathens” means someone that doesn’t have any religion in general. So, I predict that this song is about the allusion to the heathens. On the other way, see from the lyrics, He sings, “All my friend are heathens; take it slow.” It means that Heathens refer to a lot of different things. Right here, it could refer to people on the outside of a specific group (like Twenty One Pilots' core fan base), people who we think are morally weaker than us, or people who we don’t understand or think are odd. In conclusion, this song is not too complicated, even the rap, it is easy to understand and easy to listen.

  36. Songs in this list pretty much a well known songs, at least for me personally. The one that catch my attention is the first one “heathens” by twenty one pilots. I love their songs from their first iconic song that caught my attention at first, which that song called “car radio”. Their song pretty much telling the condition of real life events, how it can be so much depressing than what we thought it would be. Yet it is bot that typical depressing song which will make you even more depressed. Their songs will tell you how our life can be messed up at some point, they talked about anxiety, stress and lack of self-esteem. But their songs are categorised as an uplifting song due to the fact that it will bring up your spirit to cope up with the situation you are going through. It is very uplifting and it helped me to go through the hardest parts of my life.

  37. This is the first time I see some songs on this blog that I am really quite fond of, but of all the songs on the list my favorite is Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. I first heard that song from the movie Suicide Squad but at that time I didn’t know the name of the song and one day my sister played that song again and I asked what was the title, after I knew the title I started to like the song and soon become one of my favorite song of all time. Another song that I particularly like is Don’t wanna know by Maroon 5 I really like that song because it actually has some sad meaning but at the same time the beat is really catchy so it doesn’t really make us mellow or sad when hearing it. All in all, basically I like all of them and none of them are actually better than the other

  38. Out of all the songs above, I personally like the Heathens by Twenty One Pilot the most. It does not mean that the other songs are horrible, I just think that the Heathens song by Twenty One Pilot is better than the rest of the songs above. Actually, this is not the first time that I hear Heathens by Twenty One Pilot. The first time I heard Heathens by Twenty One Pilot is when the Suicide Squad movie released. I think that Heathens by Twenty One Pilot is the perfect song for the movie. Why? Because the song captured the essence from the movie perfectly. The lyric of Heathens by Twenty One Pilot is so scary and dark but there is something that makes me interested to understand and listen to the song. I also think that Suicide Squad would not be complete if this song was not in it.

  39. The songs above are the most played songs on the radio. I always hear one of them when I turn on the radio and in one day, they could be played more than once. The songs are very popular and I know that a lot of people know and like those songs. Personally, from the 4 songs above, my favorite is “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya. Daya stated that the song is about a girl that goes after her own dreams and really fights for what she wants, and not letting anyone get in the way of that. She feels like it’s important for young girls to know that they don't have to act a certain way or depend on someone for happiness. They can find all of that within themselves. I always loved Daya, her songs are very nice and it always inspires me. Furthermore, her songs make me feel confident and that I should just be myself.

  40. I really love Daya’s Sit Still, Look Pretty especially the lyrics, “This queen don't need a king” and “That Snow White; She did right; In her life; Had 7 men to do the chores; 'Cause that's not what a lady's for“. I might sound like a feminism activist but I agree that girls don’t exist to do household chores only. Girls and women are more than just to wash dishes and sweep the house floor—they are born having the same rights as their opposite gender do to achieve their respective goals and dreams. This song encourages the ladies not to be a barbie girl which is a term for girls who actually is pretty because of makeup and that calls attention for looking hot in a lot of pink clothes, heels and mini skirts and who is a bit silly sometimes because she cares more about her appearance and then it makes boys think she's incredibly easy to get.

  41. From these four songs, I have listened to the first one, the third one, and the fourth one which means I never heard the song “Gold” by Kiiara. Twenty One Pilots’ song “Heathens” got really famous since it is the official soundtrack of the movie “Suicide Squad” by DC. The movie became a big hit and since the song is featured in it, it also got very famous. The music video for this song shows the members of the band performing inside an underground prison. It also shows many clips from the movie. The song “Don’t Wanna Know” is performed by one of this generation’s best-known band, Maroon 5. Adam Levine as the band’s lead vocalist is one of the key to the group’s success. I think “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya is a good song to listen to. The lyrics really give us good message about being a girl that is not like society’s stereotype. The girl doesn’t want to be seen just as a pretty girl who act like a pretty doll that’s being controlled and she wants to be a powerful lady that could rule the world.

  42. The first song, “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots is one of my favorite song. Based on Wikipedia, “Heathens” released as the lead single for the motion picture soundtrack for the film Suicide Squad (2016) on June 16, 2016, through Atlantic Records and Warner Bros. Records.[2][3] The song was written by Tyler Joseph and produced by him along with Mike Elizondo. "Heathens" peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, tying with "Stressed Out" for the duo's highest charting single to date. "Heathens" was nominated for three Grammy Awards at the 59th annual awards ceremony. On June 15, 2016, the song was leaked through a Reddit post. Later that same day, Twenty One Pilots tweeted a message in Morse code which read "takeitslow", a lyric taken from the song "Heathens". The following day, June 16, it was revealed that the song would be featured on the motion picture soundtrack for the 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team Suicide Squad. The soundtrack was released on August 5, 2016. "Heathens" is a rap rock song. It is played in the key of E Minor. The vocals in the song span from E4 to G5.

  43. I watched DAYA’s concert in 2017, and fell for her right at the moment I heard her songs. This song is her second single from her debut. My favorite line is “could dress up to get love but guess what I’m never gonna be that girl who’s living in a Barbie world.” This song is telling us that girls don’t need man to capture their feelings. She explained to Entertainment Weekly that its about being a girl that goes after her own dreams and really fights for what she wants, not letting anyone get in the way of that. She also wants to deliver some perspectives that it is important for young girls to know that they don’t have to act a certain way or depend on someone for happiness. They can find all of that within themselves. This song also empowering message calling for gender equality.

    1. Heathens can mean a lot of different things. Right here, it could refer to people on the outside of a specific group or people who we think are morally weaker than us, or people who we don’t understand or think are odd. Alternatively, the song could be about outsiders being careful with the clique and not being too quick to judge them. This song is deep. And to be honest Tyler Jospeh (the lead singer of twenty one pilots) is my celebrity crush. I cant really tell why, but lets say its all because his voice and his song. I also like his personality, somehow I find it attractive. Oh also you guys need to listen to him covering Cant Help Falling In Love by Elvis. Please listen to it till the end, it is so beautiful, I have listened to many singers covering this song but I think Tyler Joseph did it better than anybody.

  44. Out of these four-song above, I don’t really like those songs. “heathens” by twenty-one pilots and “don’t wanna know” by Maroon 5 are the song that I'm familiar. I know “ heathens” when I watched suicide squad, this song appears and to be honest I didn’t like this song because of the beat itself. I like Maroon 5 only until the “overexposed” album, after that I just lost the taste of maroon 5 I don’t know why. So when “ I don’t wanna know” was released, I immediately listened to it because I was still curious about their song. After I heard the song, I didn’t like the song because the beat was different from the songs in “overexposed” album. I hope Maroon 5 make a song similar to payphone & daylight. The other 2 songs I ythink I never heard that. After Adrian posted it to the blog and I listened to them, It is not a bad song anyway.
