Four Songs No.12

Craig David
"Walking Away"

I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away

sometimes some people get me wrong
when it's something I've said or done
sometimes you feel there is no fun
that's why you turn and run
but now I truly realise
some people don't wanna compromise
well I saw them with my own eyes spreading those lies
and well I don't wanna live a lie, too many sleepless nights
not mentioning the fights, I'm sorry to say lady

I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away

Well I'm so tired baby
things you say you're driving me away
whispers in the powder room baby
don't listen to the games they play
girl I thought you'd realise
I'm not like them other guys
coz I saw them with my own eyes
you should've been more wise
and well I don't wanna live a lie, too many sleepless nights
not mentioning the fights, I'm sorry to say lady

I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away from the troubles in my life
I'm walking away oh to find a better day
I'm walking away

Bruno Mars
"Talking to the Moon"

I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away
I want you back
I want you back
My neighbors think I'm crazy
But they don't understand
You're all I had
You're all I had

[Chorus:]
At night when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself talking to the moon.
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too.
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?

Ohoooo...

I'm feeling like I'm famous
The talk of the town
They say I've gone mad
Yeah, I've gone mad
But they don't know what I know
Cause when the sun goes down
Someone's talking back
Yeah, they're talking back
Ohhh

[Chorus:]
At night when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself talking to the moon.
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too.
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?

Ahh... Ahh... Ahh...
Do you ever hear me calling?
(Ahh... Ahh... Ahh...)
Oh ohh oh oh ohhh
'Cause every night I'm talking to the moon

Still trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?

Ohoooo...

I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away

Avenged Sevenfold

"So Far Away"

Never feared for anything
Never shamed but never free
A life to heal the broken heart with all that it could

Lived a life so endlessly
Saw beyond what others see
I tried to heal your broken heart with all that I could

Will you stay?
Will you stay away forever?

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
I have so much to say but you're so far away

Plans of what our futures hold
Foolish lies of growing old
It seems we're so invincible
The truth is so cold

A final song, a last request
A perfect chapter laid to rest
Now and then I try to find
A place in my mind
Where you can stay
You can stay away forever

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
I have so much to say but you're so far away

Sleep tight, I'm not afraid (not afraid)
The ones that we love are here with me
Lay away a place for me (place for me)
'Cause as soon as I'm done I'll be on my way
To live eternally

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
And the light you left remains but it's so hard to stay
When I have so much to say and you're so far away

I love you, you were ready
The pain is strong and urges rise
But I'll see you, when He lets me
Your pain is gone, your hands untied

So far away (so far)
And I need you to know
So far away (so far)
And I need you to, need you to know

Jess Glynne
"Don't Be So Hard On Yourself"

I came here with a broken heart that no one else could see
I drew a smile on my face to paper over me
But wounds heal and tears dry and cracks they don't show
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

Let's go back to simplicity
I feel like I've been missing me
Was not who I'm supposed to be
I felt this darkness over me
We all get there eventually
I never knew where I belonged
But I was right and you were wrong
Been telling myself all along

Don't be so hard on yourself, no
Learn to forgive, learn to let go
Everyone trips, everyone falls
So don't be so hard on yourself, no
'Cause I'm just tired of marching on my own
Kind of frail, I feel it in my bones
Won't let my heart, my heart turn into stone
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

I'm standin' on top of the world, right where I wanna be
So how can this dark cloud be raining over me
But hearts break and hell's a place that everyone knows
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

Let's go back to simplicity
I feel like I've been missing me
Was not who I'm supposed to be
I felt this darkness over me
We all get there eventually
I never knew where I belonged
But I was right and you were wrong
Been telling myself all along

Don't be so hard on yourself, no
Learn to forgive, learn to let go
Everyone trips, everyone falls
So don't be so hard on yourself, no
'Cause I'm just tired of marching on my own
Kind of frail, I feel it in my bones
Won't let my heart, my heart turn into stone
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

Oh, oh, oh, I
I learned to wave goodbye
How not to see my life
Through someone else's eyes
It's not an easy road
But no I'm not alone
So I, I won't be so hard on myself no more

Don't be so hard on yourself, no
Learn to forgive, learn to let go
Everyone trips, everyone falls
So don't be so hard on yourself, no
'Cause I'm just tired of marching on my own
Kind of frail, I feel it in my bones
Won't let my heart, my heart turn into stone
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

'Cause I'm just tired of marching on my own
Kind of frail, I feel it in my bones
Won't let my heart, my heart turn into stone
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

  1. These songs are one of the good songs that I’ve heard so far, it’s one of the songs from the 2000-ish but still good to here even until now. I’m surprised that one of the songs came up in this list, which is “So Far Away” – Avenged Sevenfold. This band had created songs based on their feelings, like when they’re still young, they’ve produced so many hard rock types of songs. But they got into so many bad times which made those songs became slow-morally songs. Those tragedy made the band fell apart, but not separated. One of the tragedies that really structed them are the passed away of their original drummer. Which are related to this particular song. And what I’ve heard from the other three is, it told us about the life of others whom they’re close with, but left by their loved ones, so far, that they can’t even meet anymore.

  2. From all of the four songs above, “So Far Away” by Avenged Sevenfold got my attention, I really love the band, and this is my favourite song in “Nightmare” album. “So Far Away” made by Avenged Sevenfold to remembered the drummer James Owen Sullivan also known as “The Rev” who died on December 28, 2009, from an overdose of oxycodone. Since then Brooks Wackerman replaces “The Rev” as the drummer. I started to like Avenged Sevenfold when I was on 7 grade, with hard rock genre, this band compose great music with an excellent guitar solo. I watched Avenged Sevenfold concert on 2015, the concert was amazing, I got goosebumps almost the entire show because of the stage performance they played, plus there was a moshing scene, and I joined the moshing even though I was 15 years old that time. It was the first time I saw this band perform live and it was such a fantastic concert.

  3. Craig David’s song walking away is written by David and Mark Hill, released as the third single from his debut studio album, name “Born to Do It” back in the era of 2000. This song represents the debut of Craig David’s career as an R&B artist, “walking away” also got the notice from all over the world even It reaches number one in New Zealand where it became the number one song by the end of 2001, combining both sales and airplay. R&B back then was the popular song, it’s music will be always played on the radio, therefore this music is no longer a stranger to my ear. Beside Craig David’s song called “walking away”, Jess Glynne’s song called “Don’t be so hard on yourself” is also one of my favorite music back in 2015. This song has a wonderful meaning, as Its lyrics help a lot of people get through their hardest time.

  4. I’m going to talk about the second song by Bruno Mars. Peter Gene Hernandez, known professionally as Bruno Mars, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and dancer. The songs he created were very diverse and mostly successful. His songs are very popular among people, especially teenagers, his sweet voice beautifies his song. One of them was a song called 'talking to the moon', which was sung with a quiet and sad atmosphere. This song was produced in 2011, and was very popular when I was in high school. Actually, the beginning of his popularity began with his song entitled 'lazy song'. The song and music video are very unique. Since then, Bruno Mars has become popular and has become very popular with teenagers, coupled with his sweet voice, and his cool style in delivering songs. For me, this song called 'talking to the moon' is not my favorite song, I prefer ‘versace on the floor’ songs that are also sung by him.

  5. Oh I always love Jess Glynne since the first time she released her first single ‘Rather Be’ in January 2014. Not so long after her first song, she released her debut album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ in August 2015. The reason why I love her songs so much is because they are always written with feelings, as well as her brand new album, ‘Always In Between’, which highlights her journey to self-acceptance, struggle with heartbreak, and views on fame. There is always a meaningful message behind every song that she wrote. Like one of her song, “I’ll Be There”, the inspiration behind that song was her friends, which one of them was going through a pretty tough time. I think it was really emotional that she actually really cares about her friends, and the idea for her songs are always came from the words “Never feeling alone and always having someone there even though they might not be in the presence of you.” It’s a really beautiful message for me.

  6. The first time Craig David caught my attention was with his hit single ‘Insomnia‘. I reckon that if you ask anybody around my age about the song, they would recognise it instantly. I have watched Craig David performing live at the Java Jazz Festival in 2013, and was completely disappointed with his bang average performance. It really was a waste of time and money, as I was expecting much more from him. It turned out that man could not save himself without the aid of auto-tune. The other song that I would like to discuss is Avenged Sevenfold’s “So Far Away“, as I grew up listening to their songs. Other than that song, “Helena“ and “Seize The Day“ were my personal favourites. Avenged Sevenfold really motivated me to become a guitar player, with “Dear God“ being one of my very first songs that I learnt to play. I wonder what happens to the band right now.

  7. I know some of the songs above but my favourite is So Far away by Avenged Sevenfold. I really love the band as it is not like any other common rock bands. They take an unorthodox approach to rock, making their music unique. Unlike other rock bands, Synyster gates, the band’s lead guitarist likes to fuse several music styles into one hybrid style of rock. It usually consists of mainly rock, blues, country and even jazz. He’s also a hotshot at shredding ,playing solo and creating riffs. This song was created by avenged sevenfold inorder to honor their friend and colleague. His name was James Owen Sullivan but his stage name is The Rev. He was one hell of a drummer but unfortunately he died of drug abuse. Avenged sevenfold was the reason why i started playing guitar and my style of playing is mostly influenced by this band. This song was part of the nightmare album. There were many brilliant songs inthe album but the ones that stood out were So far away, God hates us, Nightmare, Danger line, Welcome to the family, Save me and Natural born killer. Even though they usually play metal and hardcore rock they did a marvellous job on SO far Away. It was full of emotions and Matt shadows successfully poured those using his lyrics and voice.

  8. Avenged Sevenfold has always been a quite popular band to people here in Indonesia. Back in the 2000s , it was the golden time for Avenged Sevenfold cruising all across the globe. Their songs were lit, the instruments were so fire, and the fan base itself was solid. I do not know much about the popularity of this band in recent times, but they are going to be in the hall of fame's lists of rock music. I grew up being so close with my oldest cousin. When i was 7, he used to play Avenged Sevenfold's songs everyday. I was not so into the music back then but i enjoyed it because seeing him jamming to those songs with pure excitement. As i got bigger i realized that the band's songs were real quality hits. And "So Far Away" is another outstanding song , along with "Dear God", those two are the songs that my friends and i like to sing. By the way, Avenged Sevenfold is usually called "A7X" here in Indonesia. It is pretty cool.

  9. From the list of songs that are stated above , the one song that straightly attracts my mind is Talking to the Moon - Bruno Mars. The reason why i chose this song is that back in the old days where Bruno Mars was a hit, i tend to follow his path by listening to all of his songs. Talking to the moon is one of the best mellow songs that Bruno Mars has ever released. The amazing thing about Bruno Mars is that whether he was making mellow songs or even other genres of song, it was still a hit and even making a success in the music industry. The song was a hit with Grenade and Gorilla and probably the songs that become the major breakthrough of Pop song and easy listening music. The other songs that has the same genre with Talking to the Moon and is able to become one of top billboards songs is When i was your Man. It was one of the best mellow songs in the time of the big hit of Bruno Mars.

  10. Bruno Mars has always been and will always be one of my favourite singers of all time. I think the main reason why is because in his songs, he represents the things that women wanted to hear from men. Most of his well know songs like "Talking to The Moon", "When I Was Your Man", and "Versace On The Floor" talks about his adoration and admiration towards women, so it's no surprise that most of his fans consist of mainly female. His unique voice and gorgeous physical features are also two other things that can be added to the list of why he is everyone's favourite singer. But of course he doesn't only sing sad and mellow songs, one of my favourite songs from him is actually "Billionaire" featuring Travie McCoy, mainly because of it's catchy beat and lyrics. He is also one of many singers that doesn't need auto-tune because he sing both live and the recorded version of his songs beautifully.

  11. I am glad to see Bruno Mars on the list. I am really a big fan of him since my elementary days. The song which is Talking to the moon was from the album Doo-Wops & Hooligans and was initially released on October 4, 2010. I call the songs in following album as Bruno Mars’ classics because it was really an original of him. The actual song that made me first look up to Bruno Mars is Just The Way You Are. About the ‘Talking to the moon’ song, it was also one of my favorite Bruno Mars songs and until this day the song is still enjoyable. The song actually has a deep meaning in my opinion, I believe it is about a girl who he loved and she meant everything to him. It may or may not have ended on a bad note, but she moved away, or they lost touch completely. He was the one to break up and it was a mistake and so he has been regretting it ever since. He never got the chance to say sorry for hurting her, and now lives everyday of his life hoping that somehow she could hear him.

    1. So Far away is Avenged Sevenfold's third single released without their former drummer The Rev, who died of a drug overdose on December 28, 2009. The single was released on April 5, 2011 by the Warner Bros.

So Far Away was a song I once listened a lot during my Junior High School times. Even though Avenged Seven Fold was already famous since my years at Elementary School, but I happened to like them and into their music when I was already at 7th grade. I played this song and also Dear God a lot until it stuck in my head. Actually, one of the reasons I faved this song in my Junior High School times was because of influence from my friends. Today, I do not listen much to any of their songs anymore because maybe the factor of innovative genre of music like EDM and stuff. However, I still keep in mind that Avenged Sevenfold is a marvellous band.

  12. It is definitely not a surprise that I am here commenting under the Four Songs article again. On this week’s Four Songs article, I only know 2 out of 4 of the songs mentioned in the article although I do know who Craig David and Avenged Sevenfold are. The song Talking To The Moon by Bruno Mars is definitely a classic one from Bruno Mars. The song was released back in 2010, which means I was in Elementary School when this song first came out. I remember being really obsessed with this song and I honestly still listen to this song once in a while. Bruno Mars is actually one of my favorite artist because his music is really unique and leaves you feeling really good. For the song Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself by Jess Glynne. It is a really motivational song that delivers a message that is positive and needs to be heard. I have always enjoyed Jess Glynne’s music because it is raw and genuine.

  13. First of all, I really like Talking To The Moon. I've heard it for quite some time and it was always easy to listen to and it has an enjoyable melody. I think the song is telling us a love story about someone (like almost all Bruno Mars's songs) but this is kind of the sad ones. It is like telling us a story about a guy who messed up a relationship that he had with his loved one and now he is really begging his loved one to come back. But because there were no one else to share his feelings to, he can only think alone while looking at the moon and telling himself all of his regrets (Talking to The Moon). For me personally, relationships can be hard sometimes and maybe at some point it could become "impossible" for us to continue. I just think that it is okay to have regrets about the past for you to improve in the future ahead.

  14. About So Far Away, it is really a unique song for me. At some point I can enjoy the music because it tells a story about a person that was separated from their loved one, but it also touched me because actually it is telling us the story of The Avenged Sevenfold's band members’ feelings of sadness, loss, and regrets due to the passing of their drummer, James “The Rev” Sullivan. I just can't imagine how it feels to lose a close friend who you can call as a family, whom you spent your time with together through the ups and the downs of the band's careers. I really do appreciate their dedication to their passed drummer by making a really nice song that could also touches their fans feeling towards James “The Rev” Sullivan. I just hope that Avenged Sevenfold could keep on improving in their band’s career so that James “The Rev” Sullivan can be proud of his legacy.

  15. I could enjoy the melody of all those four songs listed on this post. However, the one which I am more familiar with is the second song called Talking to the Moon. This song was officially released on 2011 as part of Bruno’s album: Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Do you know that this song was written by five people? Yep.. This song was actually a masterpiece of five talented people who worked together: Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Albert Winkler, and Jeff Bhasker. This song was ranked first in the list of Hot Pop Songs in Brazil on 2011, soon after the song was released. Even though it has been seven years since the year when this song was commercialized, I’m still enjoying it. It’s still played frequently on a radio station in Jogja too. I think Peter Gene Hernandez, the birth name of Bruno Mars, is indeed a one talented clever musician.

  16. For these songs I have only listened to two of them which are Talking to The Moon by Bruno Mars and So Far Away by Avenged Sevenfold, and I'd like to talk about the song So Far Away. The origin or I guess I should say the Inspiration for the song is one od the lead singers best friend and the bands former drummer called James Owen Sullivan or nicknamed 'The Rev' by his friends. While the song was originally written by The Rev and his friends it had a different meaning when they wrote it, when The Rev died on December of 2009 his friends went and published the song as a farewell to him and was dedicated to being their last song that they wrote together. It tells the story of how a man is in distress after a loved one dies and the lyrics tells about how the man is feeling 'So Far Away' from his friend and he is upset and confused on how to continue living his life without his friend by his side.

  17. Among the four songs mentioned above, I am most familiar with the song Bruno Mars’ Talking to the Moon. This song is from the album Doo-Wops and Hooligans; another famous songs of him coming from this album are Just The Way You Are and Grenade. I believe these two songs were the songs that made him popular. I remember when everyone was basically singing to these songs all the time. In fact, Just The Way You Are won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance back in 2010. In the following year, Grenade was nominated in three categories, which are: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance. At the same time, the album Doo-Wops and Hooligans was also nominated for Album of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. These are only some of the many nominations he was nominated for. It clearly shows how amazing Bruno Mars is as a singer and producer.

  18. Out of these four songs, the one that I do not know is the first one called walking away by Craig David. I have listened to the other three and the songs I very nice. These songs really sound catchy and the one that I liked the most is the one called don’t be so hard on yourself by Jess Glynne. The song is very motivational, and it Is really good and nice to hear these types of songs. After hearing the walking away I do not think that the song suits me very well. The second song that I like is the one called so far away by avenged sevenfold and then after that is obviously the one called walking away by Craig David. The other thing that I like about this article is that the song is not an “old song” and I really know most of them.

  19. From all the songs mentioned above, I recognized two: Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars and So Far Away by Avenged Sevenfold. But in this blog comment, I would like to discuss about Talking to the Moon only. This pop song is from the album Doo-Wops & Hooligans and it was released in 2010. Talking to the Moon is one of the many Bruno Mars’ popular songs. Other popular songs that come from the same album include Just the Way You Are and Grenade. Although Talking to the Moon is not as popular as the other two songs, the album’s third single topped the Billboard Brasil Hot Pop & Popular and the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay charts. It spent nine weeks at number one on the latter chart, and topped the former chart for 22 weeks. The song is praised for its slow pace and lyrics but there were some critics as well.

  20. I have all the songs above on my phone, but the top two are ‘Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself’ by Jess Glynne and ‘Talking to The Moon’ by Bruno Mars. ‘Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself’ is more like a motivation for yourself. The song tells us that almost everyone had gone through a rough patch, but we should keep moving on and continue our lives. I usually listened to this song when I need motivation or when I have a lot of things going on in my life. This song really makes me happy and never fails to brighten up my mood. As for ‘Talking to The Moon’, it’s more of a sad song and the one that you listened to when you feel down and very mellow. The song is about a girl who he loved and their relationship ended up badly, she moved away and they never spoke again. I always love Bruno Mars’s mellow songs because the lyrics really hits you and very suitable with the sad mellow mood.

  21. Out of all the songs mentioned in the article, the one that stands out the most to me is 'Talking to The Moon' by Bruno Mars. It is a song from his album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans", the album itself is such a classic; I love every single song from the album. Back in the day, Bruno Mars songs were an absolute joy to listen to, from the album I mentioned, I can hear a song for each of my moods. Talking to The Moon was that one song which, I almost listened to everyday. It is a slow song but very catchy and I think that every teenager can relate, when I was feeling down I listen to that song because it fits with the mood. The lyrics is very relatable somehow, eventhough I was in primary school when that song was booming; I didn't even have a proper relationship but I think it is suitable for everyone who enjoys that genre of music.

  22. From all of the four songs above, the one that is very familiar to me is Talking to The Moon by Bruno Mars. I think the lyrics is very deep and meaningful. The lyrics can tell how much the singer missing the girl and wondering whether the girl misses him too or is he the only one who misses the girl. I love most if Bruno Mars’ songs. The lyrics of his songs are mostly very deep and meaningful. It relates to what we feel about something. It feels like Bruno Mars knows us well what we feel through his lyrics. There are so many Bruno Mars songs that I like. Too many that I cannot mention it all here. My mom loves his songs too. Our all time favorite song of Bruno Mars is That’s What I Like and 24K Magic. We listen to that song very often in the car.

  23. I am going to give my thoughts on the second song by Bruno Mars which titled as “Talking to The Moon” This was a popular song several years ago. I personally like the character of Bruno Mars’s voice. He has a unique kind of voice and I read an article telling that he started to sing since he was very young. When he was younger, he used to be a backing vocal for popular singers. Now, he become one of the most favourite singers in this whole world. He wrote relatable lyrics and arrange beautiful rhythms to dance. The genre of his music is mostly R&B, I might say. He also made ballads song and one of them is this song. The lyrics of this song express the feeling of someone who is just seperated from someone he/she loves. But other than that, this song is a really nice song to sing.

    1. The next song I want to discuss is the fourth song of this list. A song by Jess Glynne which titled “Don't Be So Hard On Yourself” This song were on my high-school song playlist. This song is kind of motivational song to not be so hard on ourself. I finally understand that it is not healthy to demand ourself to be this and that. We sometimes have bad days and not-so-good situation, ofcourse, we do not want everyone to see it. We keep hiding and burying the feelings inside us. Little do we realize that we use to do this until it become unhealthy. It is our choice to show or keep it inside. It doesn’t really matter as long as you didn’t get too hard on yourself. The thing is do not lie to your own self. I think, it is better to feel the feelings we have.

  25. Bruno Mars is a modern day singer that sings with his heart, not to mention he’s also an eye candy. While a lot of artists make songs to sound like the latest greatest hit, Bruno Mars takes the artistic approach and creates original content for his fans. He's not new compared to a lot of the other big names out, but his songs are always on the radio. Bruno's sound is versatile and forever changing which makes him a possible artist that will be around for quite some time. "Talking To The Moon" is a song that really captures the essence of staring off into space thinking of that special someone. The production of the song isn't too overwhelming, all the right elements in place to drive the message home. My favorite line would be ‘Cause every night I'm talking to the moon Still trying to get to you.’

  26. "So Far Away" is a song by the American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released as the third single for their fifth studio album, Nightmare. The single was released on April 5, 2011 via Warner Bros. The song is a tribute to the band's original drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in December 2009. It is the band's third single released without former drummer The Rev, who died of a drug overdose on December 28, 2009. In late March All Access Music Group mentioned that the third single from the album Nightmare would be "So Far Away", scheduled to be played on the radio starting on April 5, 2011. (wikipedia) Im not really into heavy music but i do enjoy some of their songs especially “Dear God”. My favorite line would be "How do I live without the ones I love? Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned Place and time always on my mind I have so much to say but you're so far away."

  27. When at first I saw this list of songs, I stared at it for a while because in this list of songs there is a song which have a deep meaning in my life, which is the song from group named Avenged Sevenfold. Just for general overview of this band, this band have a strong relation with hard metal songs. This song called “So Far Away” is one of their song which a little bit toned down, in terms of genre and the melody. This history of this song made by this band because one of their family Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan which used to be one of the founder and also the drummer of this band passed away due to drug overdose on December 2009 if I am not mistaken, this is why this song is an emotional song. And this song also have a great meaning to me because I heard this song when my grandfather passed away 2 years ago.

  28. One of the songs that caught my attention was "So Far Away" which was composed by Avenged Sevenfold. This song is a memorable song about my elementary school. The first moment I heard this song was during the elementary farewell ceremony and this song is a legend in my life. Besides that, this song is a message to be conveyed by Avenged Sevenfold to remember their drummer who died on December 28, 2008. The Rev or his real name is James Owen Sullivan is the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold who died of a drug case. To remember his name Avenged Sevenfold created two songs, namely So Far Away and 4.00 AM. So Far Away told about the establishment of Avenged Sevenfold from the beginning until the death of The Rev. 4.00 AM is a song created to recognize the time when The Rev died. These two songs are the most meaningful songs A7X has ever created

  29. The song “don’t be so hard on yourself” by an English singer and songwriter, Jessica glynne, or also known as jess glynne is one of my favorite song to listen when I am not on my best mood because the song is all about moving on from hard times and to not be hard on yourself just like what the title said. Since she’s released her first song called ‘rather be’, I’ve been following her work and she’s such an amazing singer. Jess glynne told the story behind the song ‘don’t be so hard on yourself’ is about her having her heart broken but simultaneously achieving her dreams and the message is to not let sadness defeat you but to get up again and again every time you fall. For me this song is such a motivational song for people who need the push to never give up and keep trying.

  30. Well, to be honest, based on the songs represented in the article above, I am familiar with all the songs except for the song ‘Walking away’ by Craig David. As I have explained about Jess Glynne’s song, now I’d like to describe the song by Bruno mars. you can always find the song ‘talking to the moon’ by Bruno Mars in lists of favorite or most listened sad songs. It tells about a person that loses his or her partner and is very desperate to get him or her back. The person still has a very high hope for the other person to come back and he or she channels his or her sadness by spending the night talking to the moon, as how the lyrics described it. The song also describes the person to wonder whether the love of his or her is listening to his or her call. It’s actually a very sad song that you can relate whenever you’re feeling down or broken hearted for someone.

  31. Bruno Mars is one of my childhood favorite artists. His debut album, Doo-Wops and Hooligans, which was released in 2010 is the first reason why I love his music. It was still the era of CDs, not Spotify nor Apple Music. So, I was much hyped when I get the chance to firstly try to listen to the CD that I was going to buy on a CD store. I don’t know what thing that gets me liking his works, I guess it’s just from his physical appearance that is so attractive in my opinion, and also his voice is amazing. Talking to the Moon has a lot of different theories presumption. In my opinion, he is talking about a girl in his dream, that is so far away but he believes that when he looks into the sky, the moon, that girl would also looking at the moon, thinking about him conversely. It was a sad yet beautiful song by Bruno Mars. I would still love it when the whole album is played.

    1. Craig David is one of the most popular R&B singers in the 2000s era. “Walking Away” is from his debut album and it reached number one in New Zealand, even becoming number one song of 2001. The song tells the story that he is walking away from this bad relationship with this girl who took him for granted and just caused him too much trouble that she wasn't even worth. I love how he says "I'm walking away from the troubles in my life I'm walking away oh to find a better day ". So many times I've felt like I had too much going on and it was hurting me and I just needed to get it away from it all. There were two versions to this song. The video shows him walking from troubles in his life: it shows a fire in his car, a flooded apartment, electrical problems at the train station, and a tornado at the end of the video.

  32. Above all songs listed above, the only song that I familiar with is only Bruno Mars’s “Talking to the Moon”, if I’m not mistaken, I listened to it back when I was in primary school or the early years of Middle School, followed by his another hits which are “The Lazy Song”, “Billionaire” which I remembered that I, together with my fellow classmates are making the cover of the music video using our phone camera, remembering that epic fail attempt sometimes cringe myself due to how bad the video was taken and how badly edited that video is, since now I’m quite exposed to the art of video making which’s making me experience an absolute disappointment towards myself due to how incompetent and pathetic (haha It’s such an exaggeration is it?) I was back then. By the way sir, are you do listen to old school raps or any raps in particular? If you don’t, try it sometimes, yes the languages are too explicit sometimes but it’s quite something that can makes you feel relax in which some beats produced are able to release your tension and emotion sometimes.

  33. Look it’s another ‘four songs’ article. Well, I’m actually a little bit curious about why are the songs that are posted in this series becomes songs that are familiar to me. At the start of the semester, most of the songs posted in the ‘four songs’ article sounds peculiar to my ears. But probably that’s just me. But I’m here to talk about the four songs in this article, so let’s just begin. So, out of all the songs listed in this article, I’ve listened to all of them. However, there’s only one that’s in my all-time favourites. It is “Talking to the Moon” by Bruno Mars. Although this song was released back in 2010, It is still part of my playlist right now and I still play it quiet frequently. This is probably because Bruno Mars’ voice is so pleasing to my ears. In fact, my playlist is mostly filled with his songs. In my opinion, he is a very multitalented singer because his ability in singing mellow songs and songs with a lot of beats are equal; he is extraordinary at both.

  34. In this 12th article of songs, I would like to review and tell a lot about Talking to The Moon song by Bruno Mars. Everyone know who Bruno Mars is. I think he is the most famous artist in this article. Actually, I know Bruno Mars when I was in elementary school. The first song that I’d heard from his first album is Lazy Song and Just The Way You Are. what which be his characteristics is their high notes on all songs that he make until now. We all know that Bruno Mars has wide vocal ranges as an RnB, soul, Funk, and Pop singer. His vocal range is 2 octave 2 notes or if in Piano’s keys it is from E3-E6. Mostly, from music.stackexchange.com, he said that average tenor range is A2-C5(Eb5 Extreme), and Bruno Mars is above 1 octave than it. If we compare with the other male singer in the same of popularity in nowadays, for instance like Adam Levine, Bruno Mars still be the widest one.

    1. So it is not surprising if their song is difficult to sing by mostly male in this world. Actually, as a singer, he should low down the key to sing his song, because it is rare to find the male singer who has as wide as his vocal range. For instance, the Versace on the floor song has the highest note on D5, which is in that note is such a hard thing to sing with chest or even head voice for the male, but Bruno Mars beat it. I have tried to sing this song, but I have to transpose the key lower until 7 notes. However, I like the chord progression and the galaxy EP sound because it such a rare song to looking for in this generation. Although their lyrics are very sensually, the arrangement and music are really prissy. the other song like to good at goodbye has the same part on its high note, which is D5.

    2. Talking about his voice, besides on his vocal range, his sound is unique and this typical sound has a wide genre, it means that his voice is fine to sing a lot of genres. It will always comfy to hear his singing. However, these articles are talking about Talking to the moon song, since I know it when I was in junior high school, but I don’t know if this song is also produced in 2010. What I know that this song is quite new, maybe it is produced in 2014, but it was wrong. Nevertheless, I don’t really adore this song. I think because I’m not too comfortable with the music. this song has B4 as its highest notes, and its chord progression is 1-3-6-5-4-5 on its verse, for the bridge are 4-5-4-5, the refren have 4-5-6 as its progression chord, and its last bridge is 4-5-1-5/7-6-2-5-6. In summary, I would like to conclude that mostly Bruno Mars songs have a great musicality so you have to listen to it.

  35. Out of all, the songs that I am most familiar with are Avenged Sevenfold’s “So Far Away” and Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon”. I remember when the album Doo-Wops and Hooligans by Bruno Mars was out. I was in elementary school, around grade five or six. When I bought the CD, I could not stop listening to it in the car with my family. I can clearly remember how I always sing to every single one of the song in that album. I think all the songs in that album are really good and very catchy. My family and I went to Bandung for about a week during that time, and every time we were in the car the only songs we listen to is from that album. On the way from my house to Bandung, when we go visit places, and on our way back home, Doo-Wops and Hooligans is literally on repeat.

    1. My favourite songs from the album Doo-Wops and Hooligans would be Somewhere in Brooklyn, Runaway Baby, Grenade, and of course, Talking to the Moon. This song was very mainstream during that time, and I am sure it is because of how good the lyrics are and how it basically “hits” us when we listen to it. When I listen to it, I feel like Bruno Mars’s voice really shows deep feeling and meaning and 11 year old me find it very amazing. I was not even experiencing anything like the song but listening to it makes me feel like I am in some kind of a sappy, heartbreaking, drama-romance movie. I always admire that about Bruno Mars. His other song that I love which makes me feel something similar when I listen to it is “It Will Rain”. Listening to his voice in this song can make me sad even if I am in my happiest mood; that’s how much I feel like his voice shares the true meaning of the song to me.

  36. Jess Glynne is one of my favorite singer, she is beautiful, her red curly hair suits her pale skin and what is the most thing I like about her is that she is talented. I like almost all of her songs, the way she writes the songs somehow amazed me, I always try to find out behind the lyrics she wrote. The first time I know Jess Glynne is from the Rather Be by Clean Bandit featuring her. Jess Glynne wrote Don’t Be So Hard On yourself on August 2015 and succeed entered the UK Singles Chart at number 78 based on streams. It is a proof that she is good at writing songs. This song tells us about moving on hard times and not being hard on yourself. Other than that, her song called I’ll be there is became my favorite song, I am literarily obsessed with it. But I prefer the acoustic one, you guys should listen to it.

    1. And again Bruno Mars is in my favorite male singer list. No doubt, he is extremely talented. He writes songs, he sings, he dances, he produces his own songs and he plays five instruments. he has sold over 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has released seven number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since his career launched in 2010. I believe it is about a girl who he loved and she meant everything to him. It may or may not have ended on a bad note, but she moved away, or they lost touch completely. He was the one to break up and it was a mistake and so he has been regretting it ever since. He never got the chance to say sorry for hurting her, and now lives everyday of his life hoping that somehow she could hear him. Anyway, thats what I think of it, its truely a beautiful song, written from the heart. This is why Bruno Mars is different from many other Artists who write love songs.
